Bob Zahtilla tuned my piano which hadn't been tuned in 30 years. He did the best he could with a piano that long between tunings! I was very satisfied with the job he did. The piano sounds 100% better, even though he couldn't get it to be perfect because of the untuned time period.

I've used Bob Zahtilla/A Thru Z for all our piano needs since 1993. That includes moving pianos, repairing & restoring an antique grand, installing Dampp Chaser systems in each of the two grands I've owned, and tuning/maintaining them. He's professional, knowledgeable, reliable and friendly. Bob always does what he says he will, and WHEN he says he'll do it.

A year or so ago when I needed an appraisal for insurance purposes, he was extremely responsive and helpful. Bob's a treasure!

Bob has helped us purchase three pianos over the last five years, performed multiple deliveries both to and from our house and regularly tunes our pianos.  Beyond that, if I have a simple question, I know I can call Bob and he will always provide advice to me over the phone or via email.  His service is excellent!
Most recently he moved an upright piano we sold to a buyer in western Pennsylvania.  He did an excellent job moving the piano and both the buyer and I were completely satisfied with the transaction.
He also inspected a used grand piano we were interested in purchasing.  His inspection was thorough and his review was detailed and honest, covering both the positives and negatives of this particular piano.
Finally, once we moved forward with the piano purchase.  Bob tuned the piano and made other adjustments to improve the sound of the piano in its new home.
I highly recommend Bob for tuning, inspection and moving of pianos.

We sold our piano and A THRU Z?s was our buyer?s choice to pick
up piano from our house and deliver to the theirs. From the time Bob entered
the house it seemed that he only cares how to get our old piano out of the house
as fast as he could with no consideration of the owner?s wishes. He walked in
to the house like he owned the place, he did not ask which way we would prefer
the piano to be moved out, walked over our hardwood floor with his dirty shoes.
When he stepped over our daughters notes book and my wife asked him to lift his
foot of, he pretended that he did not hear the question. Given that they have
been doing this for a while and they know better how to do business we wanted
to give Bob another chance.  We scheduled
an appointment to come back to tune and repair our current piano that we own
now. Appointment was scheduled 4 weeks in advance claiming that Bob is ?very busy?.  A lot of things could happen in 4 weeks. We had
to travel during the day of our scheduled appointment and when Bob called day
prior to confirm that he is coming to our place, we apologized and politely
explained that we might have to reschedule our appointment. Bob recommended to ?never
calling him again?. That was the last straw. I have never heard a small
business owner disrespecting his feature customers this much. I had no words to
reply to his rudeness, I simple hang up the phone. I just want everyone to be
aware of true Bobs intentions, he will respond, come and take your money, but
after that do not expect much from him. If he was so impolite, rude and
careless with someone that he could have had long business relationship, just
imagine what he thinks and most importantly how he acts if you are just one of
those customers that will use his service only once.

"I'm very sorry you feel this way. The day of the move we had to walk piano around home in grass that was very soggy. Your piano came out of a basement with stairs out back over a long yard and yes we may of had some dirt on our shoes. We always try to clean our feet the best we can and 99% of people are very understanding. As far as telling you to call someone else for service you booked a very long service project. It was just past Easter and I'm always very busy this time a year. The day before appointment I called to remind you and I felt very disrespected when you said you were on vacation. I understand last minute stuff happens, but I think a vacation warrants maybe a call on your part to reschedule. Yes I said call someone else when you laughed and said you were on vacation. Thanks, Bob Zahtilla"

Immediately after the piano was tuned, we noticed that it didn't sound on key. When we phoned the owner/tuner within 2 weeks later, he said that he couldn't be responsible for our piano. He was very dismissive.  As a result, this is not someone whom I'd recommend nor do business with again.
Response from A THRU Z'S COMPLETE PIANO SERVICE
"Sorry you feel this way [removed members name], but I can't be responsible for a piano that hasn't been maintained on a regular basis. Your piano was over a 1/2 step flat and I raised it up to concert pitch with 2 tuning. When you raise pitch on a piano sometimes they just don't hold. Also sometime pianos won't hold up in older homes due to the heating and cooling systems. I know you travel a lot and adjusting your thermostat back sometimes keeps piano very unstable. I'm not making excuses for my work but as you can see 99% of my reviews on the internet are positive. I take pride in every job I do, so if you want a Full Refund I will mail you a check, just ask. Thanks, Bob Zahtilla"

Bob responded to my emails and calls quickly. He gave me a quote by email based on an online form I filled out. He communicated well and was accommodating with the piano seller in terms of setting up a time that the seller could open up the storage unit. He was punctual on the day of the move. He and an assistant picked up the piano from the storage unit and moved it to our house. Once it was in place, Bob looked it over inside and played it, and gave me his assessment. He told me I overpaid for it, and that it was out of tune, and he didn't recommend tuning it because strings may break. I appreciated his honesty.

The only bad thing was, the ramp they used to get the piano up the steps at the front of our house took two small chips out of the edge of the limestone step. I didn't notice it until after they left. It is a disappointment but it isn't really a big deal.

I left a message for A Thru Z and Bob called me back within the hour. He explained that they do paino moves on Thursdays and Saturdays and we set up a time that worked well for both the piano seller and me. They called the night before to give a 2-hour window of time when he expected to be there to pick it up.
Bob was there when he said he would be and he had a crew with him (two additional guys) along everything they might need to make the move possible (ramps, blankets, etc.). They have a moving truck so they can fit several pianos in a the same time. When they arrived here, they got right to work moving the piano into the house and placing it exactly where I wanted it. Bob really knows pianos. I was a little weary buying a piano from craigslist, so he took a little extra time to take off the top and look it over. He's completely honest and down to earth. There's nothing salesy about Bob and I really appreciate that.
I should mention that we also had Bob move a piano a few years ago and the price was a little less then because it was an easier move. We live at the top of a steep hill now and we knew it would be a bigger job so we expected a higher price. It all depends on the scope of your move.

This is the second annual piano tuning Bob has performed for us.  His work is excellent.  He addressed particular concerns (vague as I may have expressed them) about specific notes/keys.  He was punctual and thorough.  We are pleased with his work and will call him for our future needs.

Called and made the appointment.  He arrived on time and tuned the piano for the price quoted.  It hadn't been tuned for many years so I had thought it might cost more than quoted, but it didn't.  I would use them again.

He picked up the piano at the guy's house and brought it to my house. He was on time and moved it in no problem. Put it right where we requested and was in and out in like 10 minutes. Would use him again.

I wasn't here when they did the job. My husband was here. From what he said, they did a great job. They were very knowledgeable about pianos in general, which was very helpful. They gave us some advice about when to tune it. I'm sure the price was average.

The man who used to tune our piano postponed twice -- once for car trouble and once because he was sick. He is an old man and so by mutual agreement, he recommended A Thru Z. Bob Zahtilla arrived at our house on time. He found that the piano needed more work than he expected. The piano is 50 years old. He discovered that some of the pins are loose which makes it difficult to keep some of the keys in tune --- especially the keys at the extreme high and low ends of the keyboard. He also mentioned that having the piano near a window also caused a piano to go out of tune because of the changes in temperature. Humidity was another factor. Bob worked hard and got the piano sounding a lot better. I was impressed with his knowledge and appreciated his explanations for factors that made the instrument go out of tune sooner that it usually does.

I scheduled an appointment with Tom. He called the day before to confirm the appt. He showed promptly and got right to work. We purchased our piano on craigs list and found out it was a good quality piano but had not been tuned for A very long time. Tom said he'd do his best. After 1 hr and 15 minutes he had performed a "double shock" and got the pitch to almost perfect. He was careful and was able to tune a very old piano without damaging the strings etc. He was very knowledgeable and I felt he was honest and fair in diagnosing and pricing.

Bob moved this piano for us a couple of weeks before the tuning, and just as with the move, he did an exceptional job. He confirmed the appointment, arrived promptly, explained the work, and charged us per his original estimate. The newly tuned piano has excellent sound and Bob's information on upkeep, as well as his list of certified teachers are invaluable. We look forward to seeing him again in six months!

Of all the piano moves I have had, this was the most professional and careful. Bob and the crew were on time, got right to work and were gone in 45 minutes. They were very careful with the piano, the removed it's legs and wheels and soundboard and wrapped the keyboard.

They were professional and on time (even a little early). He also worked with my schedule to time the move. I thought it would take much longer than it did but with the right equipment and 2 strong guys, moving the piano was a snap.
