I've used Bob Zahtilla/A Thru Z for all our piano needs since 1993. That includes moving pianos, repairing & restoring an antique grand, installing Dampp Chaser systems in each of the two grands I've owned, and tuning/maintaining them. He's professional, knowledgeable, reliable and friendly. Bob always does what he says he will, and WHEN he says he'll do it.
A year or so ago when I needed an appraisal for insurance purposes, he was extremely responsive and helpful. Bob's a treasure!
Most recently he moved an upright piano we sold to a buyer in western Pennsylvania. He did an excellent job moving the piano and both the buyer and I were completely satisfied with the transaction.
He also inspected a used grand piano we were interested in purchasing. His inspection was thorough and his review was detailed and honest, covering both the positives and negatives of this particular piano.
Finally, once we moved forward with the piano purchase. Bob tuned the piano and made other adjustments to improve the sound of the piano in its new home.
I highly recommend Bob for tuning, inspection and moving of pianos.
up piano from our house and deliver to the theirs. From the time Bob entered
the house it seemed that he only cares how to get our old piano out of the house
as fast as he could with no consideration of the owner?s wishes. He walked in
to the house like he owned the place, he did not ask which way we would prefer
the piano to be moved out, walked over our hardwood floor with his dirty shoes.
When he stepped over our daughters notes book and my wife asked him to lift his
foot of, he pretended that he did not hear the question. Given that they have
been doing this for a while and they know better how to do business we wanted
to give Bob another chance. We scheduled
an appointment to come back to tune and repair our current piano that we own
now. Appointment was scheduled 4 weeks in advance claiming that Bob is ?very busy?. A lot of things could happen in 4 weeks. We had
to travel during the day of our scheduled appointment and when Bob called day
prior to confirm that he is coming to our place, we apologized and politely
explained that we might have to reschedule our appointment. Bob recommended to ?never
calling him again?. That was the last straw. I have never heard a small
business owner disrespecting his feature customers this much. I had no words to
reply to his rudeness, I simple hang up the phone. I just want everyone to be
aware of true Bobs intentions, he will respond, come and take your money, but
after that do not expect much from him. If he was so impolite, rude and
careless with someone that he could have had long business relationship, just
imagine what he thinks and most importantly how he acts if you are just one of
those customers that will use his service only once.
"I'm very sorry you feel this way. The day of the move we had to walk piano around home in grass that was very soggy. Your piano came out of a basement with stairs out back over a long yard and yes we may of had some dirt on our shoes. We always try to clean our feet the best we can and 99% of people are very understanding. As far as telling you to call someone else for service you booked a very long service project. It was just past Easter and I'm always very busy this time a year. The day before appointment I called to remind you and I felt very disrespected when you said you were on vacation. I understand last minute stuff happens, but I think a vacation warrants maybe a call on your part to reschedule. Yes I said call someone else when you laughed and said you were on vacation. Thanks, Bob Zahtilla"
"Sorry you feel this way [removed members name], but I can't be responsible for a piano that hasn't been maintained on a regular basis. Your piano was over a 1/2 step flat and I raised it up to concert pitch with 2 tuning. When you raise pitch on a piano sometimes they just don't hold. Also sometime pianos won't hold up in older homes due to the heating and cooling systems. I know you travel a lot and adjusting your thermostat back sometimes keeps piano very unstable. I'm not making excuses for my work but as you can see 99% of my reviews on the internet are positive. I take pride in every job I do, so if you want a Full Refund I will mail you a check, just ask. Thanks, Bob Zahtilla"
The only bad thing was, the ramp they used to get the piano up the steps at the front of our house took two small chips out of the edge of the limestone step. I didn't notice it until after they left. It is a disappointment but it isn't really a big deal.
Bob was there when he said he would be and he had a crew with him (two additional guys) along everything they might need to make the move possible (ramps, blankets, etc.). They have a moving truck so they can fit several pianos in a the same time. When they arrived here, they got right to work moving the piano into the house and placing it exactly where I wanted it. Bob really knows pianos. I was a little weary buying a piano from craigslist, so he took a little extra time to take off the top and look it over. He's completely honest and down to earth. There's nothing salesy about Bob and I really appreciate that.
I should mention that we also had Bob move a piano a few years ago and the price was a little less then because it was an easier move. We live at the top of a steep hill now and we knew it would be a bigger job so we expected a higher price. It all depends on the scope of your move.
Called and made the appointment. He arrived on time and tuned the piano for the price quoted. It hadn't been tuned for many years so I had thought it might cost more than quoted, but it didn't. I would use them again.
