Jerry misrepresented his credentials stating that he was a Pergo certified installer, he has no verifiable certifications from Pergo. He stated that Pergo does not require the product to be acclimated (that is a period of time the product sits in the home to adjust to temperature and humidity before installation). He insisted on bringing the product and installing the same day. Fortunately, I verified this with Pergo, again FALSE. The acclimation period is mandatory and will VOID the lifetime warranty on the product if not performed before installation. We had purchased over $2,500 in Pergo flooring with a lifetime warranty, so that is important. The installation was delayed unexpectedly at least 3 times, which impacted our lives - work schedules, transportation for kids, etc. & remodeling project schedule dramatically. On the day installation took place he brought in laborers who were not flooring installers by trade, but family members. He had promised only he and his employee, Todd, would do the work. They left the job early uncompleted. That night we noticed several problems with the floor, gaps between boards, chips in the boards, etc. The next morning Jerry arrived to continue the install. I pointed out my concerns, and he said that he suspected that the material was defective & had filled in the defects with putty. He was planning to tear out the carpet in my living room and dining room and install those two rooms with the same product which he believed to be defective without ever letting us know the product was defective. He never communicated at any time that there were any problems or concerns during installation. By filling the defects with putty, glue, etc. that also VOIDS the warranty as the installation is not according to Pergo specifications. We called Pergo and they insisted that the work be stopped. An installer should never knowing install defective material. We filed a claim. Jerry never followed through to order replacement material or to schedule the completion of the work. After several calls & no progress we selected another installer. His credibility had also been compromised as he had told many lies. During our installation he destroyed our threshold for the rear door, by undercutting the threshold with a jam saw and stripping all nails from the threshold as well as the groove for the threshold to snap into. The door does not shut properly and the entire threshold and framing must be torn out and replaced. The Pergo boards were not given room to expand around perimeter & jammed into the drywall. He was also supposed to repair the half bathroom floor which he had installed earlier and was covered under his company's labor warranty, but each time he came out made an excuse why he could not repair the floor (forgot his tools, did not know the Pergo specifications for installing a bathroom, would prefer to do it later, etc.) The 1/2 bath floor was also installed improperly, and not according to Pergo specifications.
