In the beginning all was good. Work started on time. The tearout of the old retaining wall & steps went quickly. When the construction phase started & Craig was asked a question about the work he became very defensive & argumentative. I left him unattended 1 afternoon & returned home to find the caps for the various levels of the retaining wall had been cut into odd sections. Example: if the top of the retaining wall was a 6 ft length he had glued together a 2 ft & a 4 ft section instead of using 1 full top for each section. It looked hideous. I made him take the caps off and redo the majority of them. Craig was complaining the entire time as he said he had another job to go to. If he had done it right in the first place he would not have had to redo it. He didn't order the correct # of steps so there was a 2 day delay waiting for the delivery. The lighting fixtures to go under the caps were not ordered in time so that was another delay. Our deck was under construction at the time the steps & wall were being installed. We left the transformer & wire for the lights loose so we could mount the transformer once the deck was finished. We were about 2 ft short of wire to mount the transformer in the right location. I contacted Craig several times asking him to provide just 2 more ft of wire. He said he would provide the extra wire but never did. In the end the retaining wall & new steps turned out nice but only because I made him redo several things with the actual wall construction.
