 + -1 moreThey were great! They were able to get my great-grandfather's 100+ year old mantel clock in excellent working order again. They were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. They had a pretty long backlog of work, so we did have to wait about 5 months. However, that to be is just a sign of HOW GOOD they are. When I picked up the clock they took the time to explain how to work it, how to keep it going, etc. Highly recommend.

 + -1 moreDropped off first week in Sept. Repaired, tested and picked up mid-December. Service: I delivered clock to their store and briefly discussed what the problem was, since we felt it was broken main spring. Clock was ticketed and I was told it would be evaluated for a possible repair, this would take a couple of weeks due to the work load. I was contacted by them that it was repairable and an approximate price of repair. Gave the go-ahead. (Service to repair antique clocks is expensive.) Called once around Thanksgiving to find out it if clock was in being repaired. Due to family health matters, their schedule had been set back. Since they had been highly recommended by a clock collector, I am more than willing to work within their schedule. I had just moved art work around on the wall and added a digital clock for time reference in the room. This will all revert back with the return of the clock. I found their service professional, courteous and friendly.
Description of Work: Main spring of old wall clock broke.

 + -1 moreRepair was not complete and clock chain patina was removed. Coo-Coo door hinge was not properly repaired. Was not at all pleased with the end product. Complaints were met with uncaring attitude. Will never return.

 + -1 moreHe took the entire click apart and used the correct expensive oil . Definitely experienced. I did need to provide a towel for the cleaning and a step stool for him to reach the clock, which surprised me. If I did not have one would he have been able to do the job that day?

Description of Work: I brought in my antique wall block for repairs. After 7 months of no contact, I called and he said his repairer had died and to give him more time to find someone else. After another 4 months I called and complained and said I wanted my clock back. He said it would be ready in a few weeks. When I went to pick it up, the price was overr 2/12 times the original estimate and he wouldn't let me have my clock until I fully paid for it. He was extremely argumentative and very rude. I paid for my clock and took it home. After 3 months, my clock will not run. I don't know what they did to it, but I had the clock for 35 years before they touched it. I am so disappointed and angry I want everyone to know how incompetent and unprofessional this organization is.

Description of Work: I took my mantel clock in for service. It took them forever to fix it and finally call me to tell me it was ready. When I went to pick it up, it took them forever to find it while I waited and waited. The first clock they brought out wasn't even mine, so he looked some more and finally found it. I got charged $250-odd dollars. When i went to wind it, I realized that the works had been placed back into the clock in such a way that they were out of alignment with the holes where you put in the key to wind it! I had to maneuver the key around to be able to wind it. When i called to complain, they said it was no big deal as long as I was, in fact, able to rewind it. I took it to Ken-Hav, they put the inner workers back into the correct position for next to nothing (about $10.00), got it back to me later that same week. I will NEVER use this service again! A complete rip-off. I think they did way more than was necessary in the first place and I got the clock back in worse shape than I turned it over to them!!! Do yourself a favor !!! Go to Ken-Hav if you need work on a clock.

 + -1 moreVin Acco lost my mother's gold wrist watch. They offered no recompense and only excuses. For the repair of our clock, Vin Acco, although recommended by Old World Restorations (a very reputable company), not only charged us an outrageous price for the simple work performed, but stated that they were incapable of completing the restoration. I would not recommend them for repair or purchase of services or goods under any circumstance. Definitely an "F" operation, dispite the number of years they've been in business.
Description of Work: We brought in an antique clock for restoration. A small broken piece was brazed consisting of a small counterweight support. For this 10 minutes of work Vin Acco charged 154.00, and we picked up the clock since we have no confidence that Vin Acco is capable of the total restoration. Additionally, several years ago, we gave Vin Acco an womans gold heirloom wrist watch for repair. When we brought in our ticket to pick up the watch, Vin Acco had "lost" the watch.

 + -1 moreThey were incorrect in researching the clock. He had the incorrect maker of the clock on the appraisal. He also was incorrect in researching where it was made. The bill neglected to include the appraisal information. I had to contact him several times regarding this. Overall, it was an unsatisfactory experience. Several months later he inquired to whether I paid the bill.
