I had Dayton / Cincy USA Insulation insulate my house for a cost of $6100 in 2016. I paid extra to have them insulate the garage ceiling below my master bath. Two weeks ago I had a pipe burst in that space and had to tear it out and repair. When I did, I could clearly see that they did not insulate the full space and in fact there was a clear path to uninsulated space in my attic! Pictures are attached... please dont use them

My house had no insulation.  Seeing them advertise on television and also listed on Angie's List I called USA Insulation.  Emmett was very polite and professional.  He spent over an hour going around my home indicating where insulation would be put and answered any question I had.  There was no pressure to "sign up" and I indicated that I would speak with my wife.  A couple days went by and we decided to have the insulation installed.

Do to a cancellation I was offered an immediate installation date.  The installers called prior to their arrival and were on time.  The installation took 2 1/2 hours.  The installers were very polite and didn't mind me observing the complete installation.  They also showed me in my walls were there was no insulation.

When done everything was put pack on my house and holes were filled.  The installers cleaned up everything and were careful of my wife's flowers.

I was very pleased with my experience with USA Insulation and would recommend their services.

One inside wall "blew out" when drywall screws pulled out of studs that suffered from unknown termite damage.  USA promptly sent drywall repair man to assess and fix damage.  Since the wall was wallpapered and severely damaged, repair man thought it best to completely replace the entire wall.  Wallpaper pattern no longer available, so USA agreed to pay to have all the wall paper removed and that we would pay to have the painting done.  Since there was previous termite damage, that was 100% agreeable with us.  We were extremely pleased with the crew, the work, the outcome and would most certainly use USA again if the need presented itself.

The process from the first call to finishing the job went very smoothly.  The way this process works is that foam is
injected into the wall cavity as a liquid. What happens is any ?leaks?, mainly
wall plates, the foam comes into the house.
The good news is that everywhere this happened, it meant that the house
was now sealed from the outside air. Of course, the bad news is that there was
foam to clean up.

As I said earlier, I had been looking at doing this for several years,
and now, looking back, I wish I done this sooner.    This is an unusual product, it?s not cheap
to do, and when it?s done, you don?t see any real change.

But this is one of those products that does what it?s advertised to do
and does it well.  The oddest thing is
that, now that it?s done, the house is quieter, which is a side effect of the
process.

But what I think most people want to know is: did it help reduce our
heating bill?  The answer is ?yes?.  Again, as said earlier,  I?m DIYer,
and since we moved into this house I?ve been working on reducing our
utility bill,  but I didn?t want to just
do something and not be able to  measure
how well it had worked.   I also wanted
to measure the changes against units of energy.   I know this is starting to sound like it was
really complicated, but it?s not; it?s like calculating mpg for our house.

To do the calculation, you need to know Kw per month of electricity, and
CCF of gas per month. The final element is degree day value for the month.   I use the NORA web site to get that value
for my city (http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/analysis_monitoring/cdus/degree_days/)

Just like mpg, the calculation is (degree days for month)/(KW + CCP).

The reason this calculation is important is because it measures weather
condition over energy used; this handles issues such as mild winters or a
really hot summers.

So with that explanation of the numbers, here is a comparison of last
year without the insulation against this year with it.

For the period from Oct 2012 to Jan 2013, the difference has been 15%
reduction in energy usage.  You?ll notice
that I have not said ?a 15% difference in utility bills?.  The bills are down, but the cost per unit is
more this year, so the dollar savings is about $25.00 per month so far.

This is a product that does not cost anything once it?s done; there is no
maintenance cost.    I think this product
will really provide the greatest benefit on houses built before 1970. My house
was built in 1960, and we use both gas and electric heat, so this made a big
difference, even in how the house feels.

Would I do this again? Yes!

Two-man crew arrived at appointed time. After attaching an electric cable to our 220v dryer outlet they proceeded to drill holes between the bricks of the exterior walls about every two feet horizontally and three feet vertically. Most of the walls consist of three 8-foot windows. The foam mixture was injected into the wall cavity under 300 lbs. of pressure until the cavity was filled to just overflowing around outlets. The drilling/injection process took about 3 hours. The holes were filled with mortar and the overflow was cleaned up with a detergent. The excess mortar dust was swept away. So far the room (which has been unusable during the winter and summer) is maintaining the same temperature as the rest of the house. This is also due to the replacement of the 58 year-old wooden windows. The winter temperatures will be a good test of the insulating abilties of the foam. I plan to scan the walls with an infrared thermometer. Traffic noise from the street seems to be much reduced.
