After the main guy came back, he went over everything they did and explained what they did. He informed me that only 2 of my walls had insulation. The weather was about 55 degrees that day so we could not really judge any improvements.
FACTUAL COMPARISON....
My house was built in 1961. Insulation was only put in the attic and not in the house framing. In the late 70's, a 600 sq ft extension was added. They only put insulation in the walls on two of them, but it feels like no walls. The house was always cold. With the thermostat set on 70, the bedroom would still be below 60 degrees. At night we would use a space heater in the main bedroom and it would still be cold. For January 2016, our electric bill was $400 for a 1650 sq ft house. and we used 2990 kWh.
In the days since, we have even turned off the heat and the house still stays at 70. Last night it was about 40 degrees outside and I did not use the space heater. This morning it was about 65 degrees when I woke up. I cannot give a complete analysis on cost savings, but if your house is older, check and see if you have insulation. Mine did not, except for the attic.
Do your homework and see if this is for you. I also had 1 wall insulated between the master and the next bedroom. When I tap it, it has a big THUD instead of the hollow knock.
Cost... I will say that they can be confusing, but get your estimate in writing. There is a set price for insulating from the inside or outside. Mine was done from the outside which was cheaper. The walls done from the inside are $3/sq ft. So for 1650 of exterior walls and 240 sq ft of interior wall space, my cost was just under $5400. The credit promotion is thru Wells Fargo and is 0% for 5 years. Know what you want before calling the salesman so you will not be confused during the sales pitch. I had no sales pitch as I knew I was going to purchase. So far it is well worth it. My house feels a lot warmer all over.
We were renovating the house so it made sense to put in insulation prior to finishing the walls - my husband met with a sales guy Robert and was less-than-impressed with his sales tactics, very pushy, but after researching we decided foam was the best option for insulating well. We were pleased that they would send a crew over on a Saturday to insulate our roof because the drywall was going up on Monday and we could not do it after (I will note, though, that the sales guy gave me a hard time saying it was my house and I should tell my contractor to wait until they could get us in - he only agreed to get us in when I said forget it we'll go with someone else).
This was a disaster - they showed up and immediately one of the workers says to my husband "man, I don't feel like working today" - then proceeds to basically discount everything we had been told by the sales guy. He didn't have any knowledge on the product and was giving us wrong information on how much of the roof to insulate and where. I had to call the sales guy to get things straight. About two hours later my husband calls and says one of the workers is PASSED OUT in our neighbors yard and the other one is complaining about how he can't do the job by himself. Needless to say I called the sales guy and asked him to come over right away. He sent the guys home and when I asked the one who was previously passed out to be careful getting the equipment out he told me "I'm not a (r-word)" and then tried to explain he was a recovering alcoholic. Needless to say, I was NOT happy they sent this worker to my house.
We ended up having to push back the rest of our construction to get the work done, and the sales guy was very combative and defensive with me when I said that incident was unacceptable we expected some type of compensation for the absolute disaster. He said he "would rather just do a great job" to which I replied I expected that anyway and that if he wasn't going to compensate us he would not be doing any of the house. He knocked of a small amount of the price, but not without arguing and raising his voice at me several times during the conversation.
The overall product is very good, I will say. Our house is very comfortable, however, I would not recommend using this company if you can find another foam insulation company. The terrible customer service is not worth the product.
***Update: I recommended this company to a neighbor who only needed an addition insulated and she said the sales person gave her a hard time about doing her entire house and was not receptive to what she actually needed. I will not recommend them again.
"I apologize for the bad experience you had with our crew on the day of your install. I understand why you would be frustrated. I can assure you this is not typical and we have turned over a few employees since this past summer to correct the problem. I'm glad you like the finished product. We stand by our product 100% and it comes with a lifetime warranty. In regards to your neighbor with the addition, there are several factors that must be considered when insulating only a portion of the home, and an addition at that. In the past we have seen more than one disappointed customer who thought insulating their one cold room would solve their problem, only to find that the energy is still escaping from elsewhere in the home. So while the room is insulated, the air flows out through the rest of the home and then leaves through the walls that were not insulated. Any area that is not insulated properly will act like a vacuum, sucking air out and blowing air in. This can make drafts that did not exist before. Furthermore, additions tend to be newer, giving the existing insulation little time to break down and deteriorate, which means there will not be much room in the wall cavity for our insulation. That answer does not satisfy everyone. We understand that. We do recommend insulating your entire home for best results and only in rare circumstances will we do a partial job. I hope that helps you understand why the salesmen may not have been quick to sell only an addition. Again, I apologize for your experience. Please contact us if there is anything else we can assist you with."
The job was done exactly as scheduled. Dean called ahead to advise us he was on the way. He, and his crew, were here on time and finished in less than 3 hours. He took the time to show us exactly what he was going to do and then called us out to show us what he was actually doing.
Everything was cleaned up before he left. This morning, the mortar dried exactly the color of the original. You cant even tell he was here.
I couldn't even hear our neighbor's car starting. Can't wait to see what our Duke bill will be.
I highly recommend USA Insulation and our salesman Roland. He called yesterday to see how everything went
"Hi [member name removed], Thank you for your feedback. We are happy to hear that overall you are pleased with out work! In reference to your statement that some of the walls were not filled to 100%, we appreciate you letting us know, and we would like to schedule a thermal scan to identify any areas lacking. We will then come back to fill in any walls that are found to be missing foam. If you would like us to proceed with this, please give us a call at (614) 529-2440 and ask for Ashley. Thank you! USA Insulation"

I have not seen any cold weather yet but can only imagine I will have savings on my heat bill. The walls don't feel as hot from the beating of the sun on the rear of my house as they have in the past. So I am sure there will be savings on cooling also.
When I saw the 100's of holes that were drilled into the mortar joints of my house I was almost in panic mode wondering "what in the world have I just done?" Much to my satisfaction the holes (injection sites) were plugged and I have to really search to see where they are now.
Very good job done very professionally. I would highly recommend them.
