We did not have a good experience with USA Insulation. We had the insulation installed a few years ago we wanted to give it a couple years/season cycles before we wrote our review. Unfortunately year after year we haven’t seen any savings on our energy bills. I called the company several times and never got the impression that our lack of energy savings was important to them. I think there are better companies out there that will treat you much better and will provide you with a much better experience. I’ve heard of other companies that will do a better job of analyzing your home and develop a comprehensive plan for what your house actually needs. With USA Insulation, I felt like I was a one-and-done customer and they don’t really care about our frustrations. They just wanted our money and to be in and out as fast as they could. You can do better.

The energy consultant showed up on time and explained to me the product and process. The install was done as they said it would and was done in one day.

We were renovating the house so it made sense to put in insulation prior to finishing the walls - my husband met with a sales guy Robert and was less-than-impressed with his sales tactics, very pushy, but after researching we decided foam was the best option for insulating well. We were pleased that they would send a crew over on a Saturday to insulate our roof because the drywall was going up on Monday and we could not do it after (I will note, though, that the sales guy gave me a hard time saying it was my house and I should tell my contractor to wait until they could get us in - he only agreed to get us in when I said forget it we'll go with someone else).

This was a disaster - they showed up and immediately one of the workers says to my husband "man, I don't feel like working today" - then proceeds to basically discount everything we had been told by the sales guy. He didn't have any knowledge on the product and was giving us wrong information on how much of the roof to insulate and where. I had to call the sales guy to get things straight. About two hours later my husband calls and says one of the workers is PASSED OUT in our neighbors yard and the other one is complaining about how he can't do the job by himself. Needless to say I called the sales guy and asked him to come over right away. He sent the guys home and when I asked the one who was previously passed out to be careful getting the equipment out he told me "I'm not a (r-word)" and then tried to explain he was a recovering alcoholic. Needless to say, I was NOT happy they sent this worker to my house.

We ended up having to push back the rest of our construction to get the work done, and the sales guy was very combative and defensive with me when I said that incident was unacceptable we expected some type of compensation for the absolute disaster. He said he "would rather just do a great job" to which I replied I expected that anyway and that if he wasn't going to compensate us he would not be doing any of the house. He knocked of a small amount of the price, but not without arguing and raising his voice at me several times during the conversation.

The overall product is very good, I will say. Our house is very comfortable, however, I would not recommend using this company if you can find another foam insulation company. The terrible customer service is not worth the product.

***Update: I recommended this company to a neighbor who only needed an addition insulated and she said the sales person gave her a hard time about doing her entire house and was not receptive to what she actually needed. I will not recommend them again.

Response from USA Insulation of Cincinnati
"I apologize for the bad experience you had with our crew on the day of your install. I understand why you would be frustrated. I can assure you this is not typical and we have turned over a few employees since this past summer to correct the problem. I'm glad you like the finished product. We stand by our product 100% and it comes with a lifetime warranty. In regards to your neighbor with the addition, there are several factors that must be considered when insulating only a portion of the home, and an addition at that. In the past we have seen more than one disappointed customer who thought insulating their one cold room would solve their problem, only to find that the energy is still escaping from elsewhere in the home. So while the room is insulated, the air flows out through the rest of the home and then leaves through the walls that were not insulated. Any area that is not insulated properly will act like a vacuum, sucking air out and blowing air in. This can make drafts that did not exist before. Furthermore, additions tend to be newer, giving the existing insulation little time to break down and deteriorate, which means there will not be much room in the wall cavity for our insulation. That answer does not satisfy everyone. We understand that. We do recommend insulating your entire home for best results and only in rare circumstances will we do a partial job. I hope that helps you understand why the salesmen may not have been quick to sell only an addition. Again, I apologize for your experience. Please contact us if there is anything else we can assist you with."

They installed insulation as promised.  However, a follow up electrical inspection determined that they illegally placed insulation on top of knob and tube wiring in the attic, which is a fire hazard.  I tried to contact them, but since they do not have a local office, they directed me to the national one.  I called, but was unable to get anyone at the number provided.  I ended up paying extra to have the knob and tube wiring removal in my attic because the electricians had to remove the insulation first.  What should have been a 1 day job ended up being a 3 day job, and much more money.

From first consult to the installation, the company was awesome. It was a no-brainer for us as it was extremely hot upstairs in the summer, and in the winter, we always had a dry roof within a few hours of it snowing. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who wants to lower their heating/cooling bills. Their 0% financing helped us make the decision as the savings will make up for the monthly payment. We have already started to see a reduction in our system turning on/off. Another awesome part of this is the house is a lot quieter as the walls are sealed. You can barely hear the emergency vehicles from the local fire station go by unless the windows are open. We are pretty much sitting at 72 degrees at all times now with minimal cooling/heating needed.

Great experience. Our salesman Roland was easy to work with.
The job was done exactly as scheduled. Dean called ahead to advise us he was on the way. He, and his crew, were here on time and finished in less than 3 hours. He took the time to show us exactly what he was going to do and then called us out to show us what he was actually doing.
Everything was cleaned up before he left. This morning, the mortar dried exactly the color of the original. You cant even tell he was here.
I couldn't even hear our neighbor's car starting. Can't wait to see what our Duke bill will be.
I highly recommend USA Insulation and our salesman Roland. He called yesterday to see how everything went

Two technicians came out and completed the job in about an hour. The pricing was competitive with 2 other estimates we received and they completed the job in a timely manner. I was satisfied with the product and they were good with the cleanup afterwards.

Went great. Crew called about 1/2 hour before they were scheduled to arrive, got there on time, explained what they needed, and went to work. Completed the work within one day, insulating the attic, side walls, and some rather difficult areas. Cleaned up and went away. Very courteous, professional work crew.

Insulation installation crew arrived in a USA Insulation truck as scheduled 9am, finished at 3pm. Polite, efficient, little intrusion, happy to answer questions, worked quickly. no visible evidence of injection work. I had to remind crew to clean up some insulation scraps on dimly lit basement floor and I had to sweep up some batting scraps from basement floor after crew left. House is more comfortable with uniform temperature and quieter as a result of the injected foam insulation. My wife who is recovering from stroke is sleeping better in the reduced noise and enhanced temperature environment.

Overall, this was not a pleasant experience.  My first clue that we shouldn't hire this company is that a gentleman was walking the neighborhood soliciting jobs, and our community does not allow soliciting, but my husband was outside working in the yard and set up an appointment for someone else to visit us a day or two later.  The gentleman who came to our home for that appointment was very pleasant and friendly, and my husband fell for the sales pitch, paid a deposit and signed a contract.  I was assured there would be no mess afterward - that turned out to be very untrue.  The four gentlemen who came to do the actual job were very nice, polite, and friendly men.  Unfortunately, they moved every piece of furniture and pot of flowers on our front porch, back patio, and underneath a back balcony, and did not put anything back in its place.  One item they moved was a large, heavy concrete planter which was in the middle of our patio, and therefore didn't need to have been moved at all, but they dragged it across the patio, which had a brand-new beautiful surface on it and scratched it badly.  There were large and small pieces of foam left in our front garden, side garden, back gardens and back yard, which took hours of clean-up on my part, and 10 weeks after the job was completed, am still finding these pieces everywhere.  Leftover mortar was poured into a side garden, which I didn't discover until 2 days later, and ruined a large section, plus 2 or 3 "glops" of mortar were spilled on our newly seeded (less than 1 year old) front yard, also discovered after the damage had been done.  Hoses in front and back yards were used, which would have been fine if they had been returned as found.  After this job was complete, I checked the company out on Angie's List and determined that the cost we paid for our job was higher than other comparable homes.  I sent an e-mail to the gentleman who had come to our home and taken our deposit, but received no response after 3 days.  I then sent an e-mail to the "customer service" person listed on the company's web site, and he returned my call the next day, at which time I received a return call from the first person to whom I had e-mailed.  I had asked for a $300.00 refund in my e-mail.  The first gentleman wanted to come back to our house to address my complaints, but I just don't have time to deal with another "appointment."  I just want a small refund, which won't even begin to cover repairing our patio.  We have received 2 Duke Energy statements since this work was completed, and although 1 of those statements included only part of the time since the completion of the insulation, both bills are higher than they were for the comparable months in 2012.  Since I did not have time to set up another appointment with the salesman, and I haven't heard from them since, I'm assuming they consider the case closed and they do not plan to send us a small, partial refund.  I don't want to talk to them anymore...I just want a $300.00 refund of the $5500.00 we paid them.  I would DEFINITELY NOT recommend USA Insulation.

I have a 2000 sq ft brick Ranch built in the mid 70's with minimal insulation in the walls.  It has always been cooler in the house during the winter months than I thought it should be.

I have not seen any cold weather yet but can only imagine I will have savings on my heat bill.  The walls don't feel as hot from the beating of the sun on the rear of my house as they have in the past.  So I am sure there will be savings on cooling also.

When I saw the 100's of holes that were drilled into the mortar joints of my house I was almost in panic mode wondering "what in the world have I just done?"  Much to my satisfaction the holes (injection sites) were plugged and I have to really search to see where they are now.

Very good job done very professionally.   I would highly recommend them.

A UC student was going door-to-door in my neighborhood advertising for a free estimate on insulation.  I haven't been in my home but almost a year and I knew it needed to have something done, as the home is old.  I requested my stepdad be present when the guy came.  Turns out my stepdad had used the same company a few weeks prior to have his and my mom's home insulated.  The man we met with was very friendly and personable.  The guys were done within 5 hours.  I don't notice a difference as far as how often the furnace kicks on, but I've never taken much notice of that sort of thing.  I guess we'll see if this makes a difference come wintertime and receiving the next Duke bill.  I would not want to have spent this much money otherwise and would regret doing so if it's not going to be as cost-effective as marketed to me.

The service technicians were prompt, professional and courteous. The workmanship was excellent. The cleanup was impeccable. As for the quality of the insulation, we instantly noticed that our heat is not kicking on as often and the thermostat is maintaining a consistent range. Our only regret is that we did not have the installation installed years ago. Great value, great investment!!
