Tarvin Plumbing

My gas water heater developed a significant leak, which I noticed on a Friday afternoon before expecting company later in the weekend. Called Tarvin Plumbing after reviewing Angie's list and after calling a couple of other providers and being dissatisfied with their receptivity to my request. Ellis from Tarvin returned my call promptly on Friday, gave me a rough estimate over the phone for an equivalent heater replacement + install, and offered to come out and replace my heater the next morning at 8:30 AM - which was much sooner than I thought possible! Ellis arrived on time, was very pleasant, efficient, did great work, and cleaned up everything well. He was done in less than 2 hours, so overall I had hot water again in less than 24 hours! I'd highly recommend Tarvin, and would consider using again for an urgent repair. My only gripe is that the prices were significantly higher than what I'd expect (the non-commercial version of this water heater goes for about $750 at home stores, the drip pan, expansion tank, and copper fittings cost less than $100 together, and it's not a complex installation - so we're talking about $700 of labor above market cost of the components). That said, I was willing to pay extra for the 'emergency, weekend service' as didn't have the time to do the installation myself, needed it done quickly, and wanted it done well.

Excellent! We only thought he was going to do the plumbing (we didn't have a dishwasher before) but he fully hooked up our dishwasher and got it running

The guy who came was very pleasant, cooperative and efficient. He explained everything. I was very pleased that they came so promptly. Their response was very fast.

The plumber entered the house and immediately began commenting on how nice the house was- that he sees many...after having spent a few minutes looking at the water heater, he concluded that it would need to be replaced, that they no longer made the unit, that the only type available now was in the $800+ range -and some type of additional unit would need to also be installed and that would be additional expense. I had a hard time believing anything he said and immediately went online only to find similar replacement units for a fraction of the cost of the unit he referred to while making his pitch for a new expensive replacement. I had a second plumber/company complete the work in a timely and professional manner at a reasonable cost.

The plumber was Ellis, he gave me accurate estimates of the cost of the work to be done, and did it all in timely fashion, even pointed out a drain that needed slope correction. The only part I did not like was that he proceeded to install the water line for the refrigerator thru the floor instead of the wall. I wish he would have asked before he drilled the floor. When I pointed it out to him, he said that it is typical to do the install that way, since it hides behind the fridge. If he had asked, I would have preferred the wall, even if it would have been pricier.

Arrived on time. Looked at what I wanted and looked a possible ways to get it done- I decided it was more work and more money than I wanted to spend. They are always reliable and professional. Have used them many times and will use in the future

Dave was the plumber that came and he was extremely friendly, very helpful and got the problem fixed very quickly. He even showed my husband where the blockage was and put a special piece of the pipe on it so if it gets blocked up again, my husband can just take the piece off and fix it himself. Before he left, we had him look at our hose spigot in front and we will be getting with them to set up a time to have it fixed as well. We'll definitely be a repeat customer.

Called Tarvin based on the high number of reviews on Angie's List, all mostly positive. My gas was turned off on Friday after discovering several leaks. Called Tarvin Monday morning since they're closed weekends and I decided not to page them as an emergency. They put me on the service call list. My schedule didn't allow for a visit Monday, but first thing Tuesday, the office called to let me know the tech was on his way. Then the tech called me right after to confirm as well. I'd had another plumbing company come by during the weekend to quote, but I didn't feel confident in their capability. Dave from Tarvin left me feeling confident and he basically fixed the leaks as he encountered them throughout my system. I think he even found one Duke hadn't mentioned. The repairs passed Duke's inspection and I have hot water again! So thankful for the painless resolution, after a weekend of uncertainty and cold showers. He also offered me the Angie's List discount off of my bill, even though I hadn't even noticed it on the page since I was so focused on the reviews. Earlier in our conversation i had only mentioned that I found them via Angie's list. Their hourly rate was lower than the other plumber. I rated it only "good" because, in general all companies' hourly rates are significant amounts of money. I gladly paid it though. Will definitely utilize Tarvin again.

Arrived when scheduled. Repair done in 3/4 of an hour.

PROFESSIONAL, FRIENDLY, HELPFUL AND UNDERSTANDING OF MY NEEDS. BRENT WAS VERY CAPABLE AND EXPLAINED EACH STEP OF WHAT HE WAS DOING. I WOULD NOT HESITATE TO CALL ON TARVIN AGAIN AND WILL LOOK FOR OPPORTUNITIES TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THEIR OTHER AREAS OF EXPERTISE. We ended u spending $600 which was a little bit of a surprise for us. He was here a long time and the hourly rate just added up. We were shocked at hoe expensive it was. One of the things he fixed is not working again. He tightened something that is now lose again. I didn't really get a quote. I would have liked to know in advance how much time he was going to take, how much it was going to cost and as far as what needed to be done exactly.

Very well. All items are on their website so all you have to do is order them and they show up with the fixtures to install. Excellent tile work!

Duke Energy shut off our gas the night before due to 3 gas leaks they found -- so no heat and hot water on a 30 degree day. First thing in the morning I called our usual plumber of 20 years, and they said they couldn't guarantee a plumber today, but they would put me on the "extra board," and if a plumber got done with his work early that day, he may pick this up. What?!! It was freezing in here!! So I found Tarvin Plumbing on Angie's list and gave them a call. The phone rep took my info, said they would mark this job as high priority, and it would be assigned to the next crew available in the area. Sure enough, less than an hour later, a plumber arrived. Dave was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. He took time to assess the 3 leaks and explain the options for repairing them. This wasn't very easy, as we are dealing with a 150 year old home that had been added onto multiple times. There were gas lines of all different ages going every which way. Some of the lines were no longer within code and some were no longer in use, adding to the confusion. Anyway, he came up with a solution to fix the leaks, fix the area that was out of code, and cap off and get rid of old lines. The project took about 7 hours, but from what i observed I felt like Dave was efficient and conscientious of quality. And he left the work areas cleaner than he found them. When he was done I had to call Duke to come restore the gas service. They inspected all the work and tested the full system and everything worked out great. Our gas is back on and the heat is cranking. Thanks Dave and Tarvin Plumbing for the great customer service! You've won the top spot as our preferred plumbing service!

I removed my bathroom sink and vanity so that I could lay ceramic tile. The cabinet was on legs, not flush with the floor, so it was necessary to remove the cabinet (unless I cut the tile all kinds of ways to fit around the legs which seemed to be a pain and less attractive in the end). The cement board under the tile and the tile itself raised the vanity 1/2", so I had to purchase an extender for the pipe, but I was unsure how much to cut off of the extender and was pretty much unsure of how to put the sink and vanity back so that the pipes under the sink didn't leak. Dave came out to look over the existing pipes and the vanity to see if the project could be done. The vanity is from IKEA, and is has two large drawers instead of an open cabinet, so the pipe needed to be closer to the wall than with normal cabinets. Dave was skeptical of IKEA cabinets (rightfully so, since their furniture is very different than what you get at Home Depot or Lowe's and you can only get replacement parts from IKEA). We made an appointment for him to come back the next week to do the install. He brought another gentleman, Mark, who was his apprentice. They were both very polite and professional and got the sink and vanity installed properly in about an hour. They didn't leave a mess and the sink doesn't leak, so I am very pleased. I will use this company in the future.

The office was quick to respond to scheduling an appointment and the plumber arrived right on time. He fixed the leaking pipe and cleaned out the drains in a timely manner. The pipe began to leak again the following day and they promptly sent out a plumber to remedy the issue. They were all very friendly and professional.

They did exactly what we asked them to do. The best part about Tarvin was their communication. They called us immediately when a plumber was available. The showed up when they were suppose to, completed their job. Explained to us exactly what need to be done and the exact cost. Job well done.

My mother's kitchen sink was leaking and needed a plumber. I found Tarvin Plumbing on Angie's List and called them at 10:00am. they said there were seven calls before me so they might not get to her today. They called back at 11:40am and said they had a truck in the area. The young man was very courteous and quickly discovered the problem and replaced the broken part. The job only took fifteen minutes. Great job and great customer service! I will definitely use Tarvin Plumbing in the future!

Brent did a great job installing the new toilet. He cleaned up after the work was done and disposed of the old toilet. He also advised me on some other work that needs to be done. I've already contacted Tarvin again about installing a new bathroom faucet as well as running a water line to my new refrigerator. I'm very satisfied with Tarvin and am looking forward to hiring them again soon.

The service was excellent. Work performed in an hour and the problem hasn't re-occurred.

It went very well. The whole service call took about 3 hours. After completion, we saw an $80+ reduction in our water bill each month! I highly recommend Tarvin.

Brent was great. Tarvin Plumbing is very professional and timely in addition to doing great work. Brent consistently made sure his feet were covered when walking around the house and completed all of the tasks in a timely fashion. He was very knowledgeable and was able to answer and questions I had in regards to the work being done. I highly recommend Tarvin plumbing to everyone. You won't be disappointed. Working with Tarvin was excellent from the very beginning. Their design person came out and listened carefully to our concerns about what didn't work with the existing kitchen, what we wanted, and our budgetary constraints. He provided us with several designs that met all of those and walked us through the selection process. We found Tarvin's people to be very helpful in answering questions about every detail concerning the kitchen design and which of our selections would work best aesthetically and as a matter of function. Mike Tarvin gave us a realistic timeline for getting things done-- he said four weeks. One of my friends suggested we be prepared for delays, but none occurred. Everything was done on schedule-- and this was during the period between Thanksgiving and Christmas. They completed the job as promised on Dec. 21. The finished product is fabulous! We love our new kitchen. The layout works better than we even imagined. The materials they used were terrific. Everything works well and looks lovely. We couldn't be happier with the finished product. We highly recommend Tarvin for remodeling kitchens. We're even considering hiring them for future projects.

They were able to come on the day I called. Unfortunately the clog was down pretty far in the pipe and they had to use the snake in the pipe in the basement to get to it. It was a messy job, but they cleaned everything up before they left. Both of the technicians were very nice and helpful and courteous. They stuck with the job until they got it done. I'm very satisfied with their services.
