Tarvin Plumbing

I initially called Tarvin Plumbing to get an estimate on replacing a failing basement sump pump. I talked with Mike (the owner), explained my situation and what wasn't working, and he gave me an estimate for the required work. I then scheduled an appointment for the following week, as it wasn't an emergency or anything. On the day of service, Jim arrived promptly, was professional, courteous and very informative. He explained what he was doing, and answered any questions that I had during the work. I was very satisfied with Jim's work, and the overall experience.

Tarvin was one of the only companies that I called that was able to quote the prices over the phone and was able to schedule a replacement water heater within a few days. On the day of the install, the plumbers called ahead as promised. They protected the stairs with tarps and removed the old water heater and installed the new heater and expansion tank in just a couple of hours. Overall, they were pleasant and efficient. After they left, I cleaned up the basement drain they used and repaired a paint ding in the woodwork that occurred when the old heater was removed. My biggest comment regarding quality is that they placed the new expansion tank so that it sticks out horizontally into the room and narrows the walkway into the storage area. It looks like it was "added on' rather than part of a new installation. I asked about it and they shrugged and explained this was the easiest for them, but I wish they would have pointed this out and given me options during the job.

It turned out fine. I believe we had to pay for some parts. I had to pay him to stay longer because that was just for an hour. He had to stay and do something, but then I didn't get the discounted rate. I paid for the full price. This was the first time I've used them. I think he was a little slow. The laundry sink that he installed and connected was leaking a bit but my husband was able to fix it. They weren't willing to come back out.

Replaced part of a drainage pipe that had been leaking for a while and added a piece that you can open and flush the drainage pipe. Excellent service.

The service provided was very good. He did a great job. I would recommend them. The price was reasonable but I did have a lot of things done. They were very punctual.

Used an angies list deal for $79 for an hour of plumbing services. Showed up on time and cleared the drain in slightly over an hour. Final charge was 129. Very happy with service, will use again.

Matt was very friendly and professional. We tried to locate the clean-out for the kitchen sink, but was unable to locate it. I bought this house 2 years ago and was unfamiliar with where the clean out may be. We did locate the main clean-out for the house. Matt was here for 1 hour. Had to go down the drain 48 ft. Once that was completed the sink drained normally. Have not had any further problems. Matt advised not using the garbage disposal, stating that the design of the house was such that the distance from the kitchen sink to the main sewer lines was quite a long way, greatly increasing the risk of food particles building up and getting stuck in the pipes. Also, the garbage disposal is quite small, contractor grade, and is more suited to a small apartment that for a house. I did think the charge of $210 was a little pricey since the snaking of the drain went very smoothly, but I don't have much experience with these types of services, so maybe that price is the norm. ( I did use a $25 coupon I got on Angie's List, so final charge was $185.

I thought it was a good experience. They seemed like they knew what they were doping and seemed to be informed. He did a great job. They got the job in the hour that the deal covered.

The service was fine. He could have been a bit more courteous and advantageous in his work, leaving us the impression that he didn't even want to provide us with a service at all. He wasn't very informative and rudely inquired about his pay as if he had no knowledge of the big deal we had purchased. After the inspection, the estimate given to us was astronomical, far more expensive than we anticipated.

We may need to take out stock in Tarvin plumbing, as often as we call them! What a truly wonderful business--from the scheduler to the plumber. This is the third time Brent's been out to our house and, once again, we were impressed by his knowledgeability, politeness, and conscientiousness (folding up bathroom rugs, cleaning up and debris, and wearing shoe covers). I'm grateful to have such a reliable local business to support.

Tarvin Plumbing provided great service. We called on a Tuesday with a leaky water heater and was able to get an appointment in just 2 days. They showed up on time and ended up doing more than was originally thought when we set up the job. They first removed the old water heater. Took it outside and drained it and hauled it for us. Next they Installed a new water heater and learned that we needed to get a expansion tank installed as well. Our installer was nice enough to go into our crawl space to install a expansion tank near the water line because there was not much room up by where the water heater was installed. Also nice enough to use a drop cloth sense it was muddy down there. After he was done installing water heater and expansion tank he made sure that all of the water supplies were working. When checking the toilet he saw that the shut off valve was not working because a washer had fell off. He offered to replace that as well and I had him do the work. Total cost seems like a really good deal to me. 40 gallon Water heater installed and we went ahead and got the warranty for an extra 4 years. So just water heater installed with 12 yr warranty was around 1180.00 and total bill came to 1590.00 with the extra stuff we had to have done. Looking around that seems like a good deal I would highly recommend Tarvin and will definitely use in the future.

We had purchased a big deal for the service, and it turned out great. I paid more because they also did another repair in the house. They completed the service the same day that I bought the deal. I was very happy with the service, and I will be calling them when I have future plumbing needs.

It was a small job, but very necessary, as the dripping had put a hole in my kitchen ceiling. Tarvin is a very good outfit. Punctual, professional and very cost effective, especially if you use an Angie's coupon. Well worth it in my book. If I have any other plumbing problems, these are my go-to-guys. Very pleased!

Went well. Clog pulled out with snake quickly and drain runs great now.

I purchased the big deal of one hour's worth of plumbing services for $54 on Tuesday September 3rd. I had managed to turn the water line off, so it wasn't an emergency--I didn't have water spraying all over, it was just the inconvenience of not being able to use the kitchen sink until they came. Mike at Tarvin was polite at all times, he explained that following the holiday weekend, they had a lot of service calls to make, so it would probably be sometime that week, but he couldn't guarantee it, and the plumber would call me half-hour before they would arrive. I explained that my job was more than 1/2 hour away, so I would prefer, if possible, to nail down a specific day even if it was further out, so that I could plan my work-day around the service call. His reply was that they would do the best they could--he could not give me a specific date, but they would try to come as soon as possible--it wouldn't be before Thursday, and might be as late as the following Tuesday. This was a bit frustrating--it felt like he was trying to placate someone who was trying to pressure him into more immediate service, when the reality was that I was willing to wait as look as it took, if he could give me a specific date. When I tried to explain my position again, I could sense his impatience, as he then kept repeating "we'll do the best we can". Clearly, he wasn't "getting" my point, and I decided that trying to press him further would not be productive. I received a call around 10am Thursday morning, and 2 men arrived about a half-hour later. They were polite and professional and went right to work, and resolved the plumbing issue in about 45 minutes. The plumbing service and price were excellent, as mentioned above, the only challenge was the communication breakdown in scheduling. This was not a deal-breaker, and I can understand that most people in need of plumbing services are desperate for service ASAP--it's understandable that Mike probably made that assumption about me.

The service was excellent. We ended up paying an additional $75 because the man who came out was here a little longer than what was stated on the big deal. We had an upstairs bathroom where the shower would not get hot so he fixed that. And then in our downstairs bathroom, we had a leaky valve that the back of the toilet would fill up with water and then drain a little bit and fill up again so we were losing water so he fixed that as well. We did not ask him to but he did check the pressure going out to the waterline and explained to us what it should be. He was excellent and very professional. He came when he said he was going to and he stayed to make sure that we understood the repairs he had done and if we had any other questions. We would definitely use him again. He also called us back right away.

They were immediately responsive, courteous, and prompt. They even checked in again 30 minutes prior to responding to my service call. Brent the plumber came in, quickly fixed the issue and looked at the other (not as time sensitive) issues I wanted addressed in the next 2 weeks. He was very honest about cost and work level to these repairs; very knowledgable.

The plumber was very professional, well spoken and easy to understand. We went over each item of work. Then we discussed which item he could do today based on the 1.5 hours he had left in his work day. I suggested one and he began. After a few minutes I realized he hadn't given me an estimate for the whole project. So I asked. He figured the number of hours and gave me a verbal estimate. When he was finished with the one task, I paid for the work that was completed and he said I should call the office to schedule the next work item. The workmanship was good. So I will likely call back and schedule the other items. Unfortunately, he didn't have a hand truck with him so he couln't take the water softener. I'll need to request that as part of the next service.

The technician arrived on time, was very professional, and fixed all the issues we had.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. They were great. They were very responsive. I have called them since and they were very helpful even though they didn't do any work and they have always called me back. I really did enjoy working with them. I went above the price of the Big Deal. I spent $400 because of what I had them do with that hole in the wall. They had to put a hole in the wall and had to fix a pipe and had to run a new pipe.

Very professional,on time,clean and the work was quickly done.

The plumber came out and was so professional and did a great job. They explained each step they performed and made it alot more painless than I imagined.
