Probably the worst experience ever. I was given two quotes over the phone by both owners. They included moving my console piano and understood that the new apartment would be on the second floor. Both people provided an estimate of between $400.00-$500.00 total. When the movers arrived, I took the main person all around the apt including storage, & requested that only the boxes that were already packed and the heavy items be loaded. The men came in like gang-busters & grabbed everything in sight. I couldn't be in every room at once, and I later found my lamp in a garbage can. Turned out that they had to make a second trip and I was told that the estimate wasn't even close to what it was going to cost. Mitzi showed up with a "compromise:" pay all of it, which was nearly double, or they would just stop there. Mitzi was very insulting and threatened to sue me saying I only complained because I couldn't afford to pay. In the end she accepted $620 but it was much more than the estimate.

"The member called our company and gave us an idea over the phone of what she had to move. We quoted her a rough idea of the cost based on normal circumstances. We do give free estimates and if she had requested an on site estimate they are guaranteed within 10%%. The member did not have a normal 5 room move. When my men arrived they were faced with numerous piles of papers, dog hair scattered all around, boxes and unpacked items with only a path to walk through her apartment. The men had to move items off the bed, dresser and other pieces of furniture in order to get to them. The member was clearly not prepared to move. My men were concerned at the amount of items she had and I told her it was going to take longer to move. She explained she was a single parent so I told her we would bill her for the rest and take payments until she paid it off. I felt this was a good solution to her problem but she was adamant about only paying $620 and then became aggravated and angry when I told her then we could only move the amount of furniture to which she had money for. In the end I did move everything she wanted and only took the amount of money she had, $620, which left me out of the balance due of $233. The bottom portion of the desk was put together and the top part does just sit on top. Screws to her hutch were returned to her by mail. I selected Schaefer based on their great Angie's List record. Mitzi Hackworth with Schaefer was so easy to deal with from start to finish, as was the moving crew. They were expert packers, worked well together, and had a sense of humor. Mitzi's estimate was accurate. They did not break a thing, nor did they lose anything or damage either residence. They completed this small but complicated move in five hours. The men were efficient, left everything cleaned up, and were very respectful of my uncle, aunt, and me. All of whom moved more slowly than they did! My relatives and I would use them again with no hesitation.

The men arrived on time but were not friendly. While backing into the driveway, they knocked down a flag the city had hanging on the street light pole. A neighbor was very offended and yelled to them to put it back up. I have three dogs in crates and an old futon mattress for a large dog bed. I tried to explain I would like them to take the crates and dog bed but I would load up the dogs in my car. They were not approachable at all. They loaded up the truck quickly with everything BUT the crates and dog bed. They announced completion and I reminded them of the dog bed and crates. One man walked back into the house and looked at the mattress saying, "We can't take that". I over-heard another man complain to a co-worker, "I ain't touching that mattress." I agree the mattress was not attractive, old stains and ugly, however, clean, dry and no odor. Three burly sweaty men refused to pick it up. I reminded them of the flag and they rolled it up leaving it on ground.

WHEN THE MEN HAD TO BACK INTO THIS DRIVEWAY THE FIRST CONCERN IS ALWAYS TO GET INTO THE DRIVEWAY AND OUT OF THE BUSY STREET MAKING SURE WE DO NOT HARM ANY LAWNS. THE AMERICAN FLAG THAT WAS HUNG BY THE COMMUNITY DID NOT HANG HIGH ENOUGH TO CLEAR THE ENTRANCE INTO THE DRIVEWAY. THE MEMBER'S NEIGHBOR APPROACHED THE MEN VERY ANGRY AND TO AVOID ANY CONFLICT THEY CALLED ME. MY MEN HAD NO WAY OF FIXING THIS ON THE SPOT, SO THEY LAID THE FLAG NEXT TO THE POLE AND WENT ABOUT THEIR JOB. I RECEIVED A CALL FROM A NEIGHBOR AND TOLD HER TO HAVE A REPRESENTATIVE FROM HER COMMUNITY CALL ME SO THAT WE CAN REPLACE THE AMERICAN FLAG WHICH IS SO IMPORTANT NOT ONLY TO HER COMMUNITY BUT TO US AS WELL. THE DOG BED OR MATTRESS REALLY IS A HEALTH ISSUE FOR THE MANY OTHER CUSTOMERS THAT FOLLOW THE MEMBER. MY MEN DID NOT FEEL THAT IT WOULD BE APPROPRIATE TO HANDLE A PET MATTRESS THAT WAS STAINED AND LOOKED DIRTY. THEY FELT THAT IT SHOULD NOT COME IN CONTACT WITH OUR FURNITURE PADS THAT WE USE FOR MOVING. THESE PADS ARE HEAVY AND ARE USED ON ALL TYPES OF STUFFED FURNITURE AND WOOD FURNITURE AND THEY FELT IT WOULD NOT BE APPROPRIATE TO RISK THE CLEANLINESS OF OUR PADS. WE ARE VERY SORRY SHE WAS UNHAPPY WITH HER MOVE. WE HAVE AN EXCELLENT REPUTATION AND REALLY DO TRY TO MAKE SURE OUR CUSTOMERS ARE HAPPY. SINCERELY, MITZI"

Lead driver ran a tight crew, no time lost, no damage, polite, efficient, humorous, flexible, undaunted by various difficult situations, particularly in having to clear half the garage to get workbenches and freezer in place, and having to carry heavy furniture/appliances around the house, down a hill through a basement entrance. Co flexible in changing schedule due to rain, showed up on time, hit the ground running, although I was still packing. Free wardrobe boxes for Angie's List. Very cooperative. Could not ask for a better move!

The best movers I have ever used. They were professional and respectful. They worked harder and faster than any movers I have used. The person I scheduled the job with had told them there would be less to move than there actually was, but the guys handled it so well and worked late so that I could have everything moved that day.

I was very pleased with the company, especially in the initially contacts and getting back to me making the arrangements. It was a difficult time as a big snow was predicted that afternoon so they agreed to come early and got it all done before the 'blizzard'. I was pleased with their work.

ALL THREE MEN, AND I WISH I HAD THEIR NAMES, WERE STUPENDOUS. AFTER WE ARRIVED AT MY NEW PLACE, THEY WERE WILLING TO MOVE A FEW PIECES OF FURNITURE AGAIN BECAUSE WE CHANGED OUR MIND ON WHERE WE WANTED THEM. THEY WERE PROFESSIONAL, YET FUN.

THIS COMPANY WAS THE BEST MOVING COMPANY I'VE EVER DEALT WITH. I HAD CERTAIN TIME LIMITATIONS FOR THE UNLOADING, AND THEY WERE VERY ACCOMMODATING IN SCHEDULING AROUND THEM. THEY WERE VERY RESPONSIVE WHEN I CALLED THEM AND REALLY MADE AN EFFORT TO MEET MY NEEDS. THE WOMAN I TALKED TO AT THE OFFICE WAS VERY, VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. THEY ALSO HAPPILY ACCOMODATED A CHANGE IN MY MOVE DATE. ALTHOUGH THEY WERE QUICK AND THOROUGH, THE MOVERS WERE A LITTLE SURLY AND DID NOT HANDLE THE FURNITURE AS CAREFULLY AS I WOULD HAVE LIKED (ONE ITEM WAS SLIGHTLY DAMAGED). THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE USED MOVERS AND DO NOT HAVE ANY PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE TO COMPARE THEIR PERFORMANCE OR PRICE.

WE MOVED A LOT OF OUR BOXES AND CLOTHES. THEY HAD THREE FLOORS AND A VERY SMALL STAIRWELL TO NAVIGATE AND DID A GREAT JOB WITH NO DAMAGE. THEY BROUGHT FOUR GUYS, WORKED QUICKLY AND WERE VERY FRIENDLY. THEIR WEEKDAY RATES WERE ABOUT THE SAME AS THE COMPETITION. FOR LOCAL MOVES, SCHEDULE THEM FOR A FRIDAY AFTERNOON SESSION- THE GUYS WERE PRETTY MOTIVATED TO GET US MOVED EXPEDITIOUSLY WITH THE WEEKEND UPON THEM. THIS IS A HIGH QUALITY FAMILY RUN OPERATION THAT TAKES GREAT PRIDE IN DOING THINGS RIGHT.
