I did not use Rineair through Angie's List. They nicked the line for the HVAC unit and then they came multiple times and were not able to catch the issue. The interaction with them was not good. I had to call another service company to come and fix it. I would tell them to get knowledgeable staff. The cost was free to me because they were having issues with the builder and then the builder paid them. I would not use them again.

Ron and his crew did an excellent job of listening to our remodel plan and offered helpful suggestions to bring our project to reality. Their work was completed skillfully and in a timely manner. We were also advised on needed servicing of our HVAC units and the cleaning of our existing ducts.

I needed someone to honestly tell me if I needed a new furnace and I trusted Ron completely. He is very professional and explained everything to me. I am in my late eighties and appreciate not being taken advantage of. They gave me great advice and my system is working great.

They were reasonable and I was very pleased with their service. I like that my air conditioner works and it cost under 500 dollars. They did make me wait a little bit.

Excellent. I've used this company several times, each time for something different and I've always been extremely satisfied.

The technician, Guy-later confirmed by RhineAir owner to be just out of school-despite being told the fan relay was the suspected problem, didn't check the relay. He had difficulty following the furnace wiring diagram; seemed to have little idea what to do. After about an hour, another technician called, first coaching Guy by phone, then arriving to help. He, after another hour of electrical checks, checked the relay finding contact visibly burned. The following Monday, same technician returned with a replacement relay, connected it without consulting the factory wiring diagram. When motor did not come on, he began random switching connection wires ending saying Guy had ordered the "wrong relay". He returned hours later with another relay, which required replacing the original connectors to install. When this relay did not work, Bill, the service manager, came to help. An hour later, the fan motor on, they told me the problem was when the heat pump had been replaced the thermostat and relay were changed from 12 volt to 110 volt and the furnace improperly rewired. Invoiced @ $475 for 4.75 hrs; description: "Put in new relay and had to rewire to make relay work properly. System is now running". In fact, the original and replacement thermostat, and burned out relay are 12 volt-there had been no change, rewiring or need to rewire. The next morning I contacted RineAir because the motor wouldn't turn off. Technician and Service Manger returned. The motor was running on the 110 volt relay only through chance improper connection. Accepting the system was 12 volt, they removed the 110 volt relay replacing it with the 1st (wrong) replacement relay, requiring cut-off replacing of the replaced connectors with connectors identical to those initially removed, re-installed the 12 volt relay connecting it following the factory wiring diagram, after which the motor turned on and ran. Leaving, technician and Service Manager apologized for their mistakes, the Service Manager saying that if he had been wearing his glasses, he would have caught the error. The problem was the fan relay-as suggested. 220 volts was metered to the relay but only 110 from relay to motor, which should have pinpointed the relay but only confused both technicians. The problem finally identified, the replacement relay was improperly connected due to not consulting the wiring diagram; because of this error, the technician concluded (wrongly) the at the relay was wrong, leading to unnecessary time and labor of obtaining another relay and replacing connectors. Completed of a repair as simple as this should have taken no more than 1-1/2 hrs, and would have except for technician inexperience, incompetence, and error, not the 4 3/4 hrs for which I was charged. Admission of error and apology isn't sufficient. For $100 hr, one is entitled to knowledgeable, competent technicians and work completion within a reasonable time, not to have to pay for inexperience, incompetence, and error.
Response from Rineair Heating & Air Conditioning
"I had over 200 new customers in 2008 and this is the only complaint I have had. We at Rinair are nothing less than professional and we do take care of our customers. As for his letter, he is correct in the turn of events, it is very easy to criticize and to analyze how quick this repair should have taken after the fact. Although he fails to acknowledge we spent approximately 8 hrs total in identifying, picking up pat and replacing part and completing operation. However, we only charged the actual time that would normally taken. Our rate is within industry standards. He stood over top of each technician causing anxiety and not leaving the technician to focus on this unusual problem. Ron Rineair-President"
