I requested a bid to replace 3 sunked concrete front porch stairs.  He suggested a composite wood deck / stairs as a less expensive alternative to concrete.  I asked for a quote - never heard from him again.  He told me that he also transports wind turbine / wind mill blades via flatbed truck and that was easier and more lucrative

It was really a big job but the price was reasonable. He also cleared some debris from my daughter’s yard.

Mike was easy to talk with, but had to wait a long time to get the estimate.  Like the fact he was close to my residence and willing to do the work.     While waiting, another vendor came back with competitive price and was prompt in responding to my calls.  Decided not to use Papner although his work appears to be quite good.

Michael dug 5 feet into the ground and put all new drainage tile down.  Then he put 3 rods on my wall and cranked it up, and then left it.  He did this twice more, in order to keep the brick on my house.  Even though it took him three days to do it, I appreciate the time put into it.  He also built two walls and put in drainage tiles in my backyard, and he hand-carried each piece of stone to the back.  I have a beautiful yard, and Michael made sure it was nicer than when he started.  My neighbor who has been in construction his whole life said that Michael did a wonderful job.  Michael is very down to earth, and he was friendly.  He treated me with respect, and never talked down to me and was able to explain everything in a way I was able to understand.

It went flawlessly.  Mr. Papner took two loads of debris in his truck.  The yard never looked so good.  We are very pleased.

I found Mike via an ad on Craigslist; there isn't a category on Angie's List for residential debris removal. Mike Papner came out within 24 hours, quoted me $1,800 - which seemed a little high, but reasonable considering the wind storm damage and demand on contractors. Mike and an employee came by in the evening two or three times. They removed the tree, the shed, its contents and a nearby wooden compost bin too. They put down top soil where the shed once was.
