1. I was bid for 2 coats of paint and then informed after all walls of the entry level and basement were covered, that my place was taking 3 coats of paint to cover the walls for the entry level . However, the story kept evolving, to where they mentioned that 4 coats of paint were needed for the basement and 5 coats of paint for the first bedroom. Keep in mind that the number of coats of paint kept increasing despite the underlying paint and color being the same throughout 2. They did not paint one bedroom which was part of the initial contract, as "compensation" for the extra coats of paint that they needed in other levels 3. They put painters tape on the trim and crown molding. when this was removed parts of the crown molding and trim paint peeled off. First the painter tried to imply that these defects were there before the tape ripped any of this out. Then he wanted an additional $3,000 to paint the entire trim of the house instead of just attempting to rectify the defects. Finally, I had to enlist the help of the person who referred this company to me, to get the peeling areas fixed for free. Despite this, they did not fix all the peeling areas. 4. The painter said they would show up to my place on one weekday but didn't . Then he showed up bright and early the following day without warning. This was especially scary as they had the key to my apartment and I live alone. 5. the painter mentioned that my walls had an oil based paint used previously which is why he needed so many extra coats of paint, but I have obtained a second opinion and reviewed all the paint cans that were left behind from previous owners of the house who had used these paints, and none of them are oil based . All are latex based. 6. No primer was used which is why they had to use additional coats of paint. When I asked the painter why he didn't use a primer he told me that he uses a coat of paint as a primer . I then called him out and said that it appeared that he then anticipated using 3 coats of paint in my place, to which he said yes.
