Called Jeff Lawwill and he responded quickly by sending someone to check out the job. Steve Fischer came out and working with Jeff got me a quote immediately. We agreed one the price and Steve started that day. I had two porch fans to install (there was nothing there previously) and a small fan over my upstairs ceiling.
I had other bids on this job and I couldn't believe how they wanted to install. Most saying the wiring to the fan would show on the porch. I didn't want that. One just told me his price per hour and that he could do it (without even coming out). Another wanted a payment to come out and quote.
Steve was wonderful. He check out exactly where he could run wires and did a beautiful job on the porch fans. One was on the front porch with a beadboard ceiling and you would have no idea it hadn't been there all along. Absolutely no wiring showed anywhere. The second was on a side porch with a raftered ceiling and while some wiring shows it too looks great.
My fan at the center of the stairs inside the house, I don't know how he got it up there over the railing, works great. Not once did Steve tell me he couldn't make it look the way I wanted. He was very professional and courteous. He even fixed some safety issues he found while wiring.
I would recommend OHI to everyone. I will certainly give them a call if I need any more electrical done. They gave 110%.
"OHI Electric takes a lot of pride in leaving an environment safe. We do not believe in band-aiding something that may affect the integrity of the home or the people inside it. As the member states in her response, we did recommend replacing her panel. Rust was found, which means water was getting into the panel. WATER AND ELECTRIC DO NOT MAKE A SAFE COMBINATION. It is true, someone can come out and make something work, but it doesn’t necessarily mean it is safe. And I worry about the integrity of the electrician that came out, because rust means the panel was already damaged and just turning a blind eye like that isn’t a good idea. What I would have recommended for her is, if the prices were that different, get a third quote. Then, you should have an idea of what is really going on, and what is right and wrong. I am confident that the consensus would come back it is not a good idea to have a water damaged electric panel, with burn marks. That way she would know that our intention was to keep her safe, which is how we like to leave all our customers."
"I should of saw red from the beginning of this job. When we first met this client she had no clue how they wanted this project done. I felt this was a good challenge and wanted to be involved! When I found another electrician's name on the wall project, I realized I was not the first electrician to try to work with this lady. I called him and he told me to get out while I still could. I was already into it, and thought I would be different. She stated we put electric switches and boxes in wrong locations. We can only put boxes where they will fit and by National Electric Code (NEC). She failed to state that we told her why we put them there and gave her options. She also said we where going to charge her more to move them. We told her and her husband we are going to charge more to run phones and cables. This was because she did not ask for it in the original bid, so there was no charge for the material or time. She also failed to state she tried to rewrite are terms and timelines. She gave us a dead line to meet and we met it. She then came out and wanted to change major things due to other things that had changed for her in the meantime, and thought we should do them for free. We collected our first payment from her and never heard from her. I tried a couple of times to follow up with her to complete the finish. No reply back from her. At a later time, I was working in the area and saw a electrical truck in driveway. This was one of the first jobs I did as a new business owner, and I learned a lot about character of people and when to say "no" to a job. I should have listened to the other electrician, but I didn't and that was my first mistake. The work was to code and passed all inspections done. However, sometimes you cannot please everyone, especially when someone does not know what they want or how it is going to be done. As you can see from the other ratings, we do meet our customer's expectations, and take our reputation very seriously."
