Price gouging opportunists with poor customer service and I will not return. Save your money and go to someone you trust. While my daughter was quarantined, the screen of my brand new work laptop became irreparably scrambled. My husband took it right away to The Nerd Patrol. He had to pay $86.24 up front for the labor and was told the new screen had to be ordered from their supplier but would not cost more than $100. He was told that they could order the screen from Amazon, which would be faster, but probably more expensive. My husband said yes, please order the screen from Amazon as we wanted the work done as soon possible. He was told they were obligated to go through their supplier first. Fine. He was told the repair could be done in 7-10 days. Afterward, we looked up the brand new screen on Amazon. It was available for $60. Two weeks went by without a word from The Nerd Patrol. Finally my husband called to ask about my laptop. He was told it had been done "for some time". When he asked why we were never contacted, he was told that they "must have written down the wrong phone number". Even if I believed that, my receipt indicates that his name and address were correct, and we have a listed phone number. 15 seconds on Google would have led these computer experts right to a number to contact us if they had wanted to. Then my husband asked how much the repair would cost. $120.74. Minus the $86.24 initial payment, right? No, in addition to the $86.24. No attempt was made to call us when the repair cost more than the price originally quoted. $206.98 to replace a screen that should not have cost more than $60 and required an hour's worth of labor, plus the added inconvenience of being without my work device for weeks and having to chase them down when it had been done "for some time". Never again, Nerd Patrol.

They took a little bit longer, but the quality of the work was good. Sometimes they were hard to get a hold of.

The service person was prompt, professional, and knowledgeable. He was done in less than an hour. The price we paid included the hourly rate for one hour plus travel cost since he came to our house, and the cost of the router.

The tech wiped everything off the computer and reinstalled the operating system. He also rearranged my files without asking. After the computer was returned I had to reinstall all the software and there were a number of problems that I didn't have prior to taking the computer to them. When I talked to the tech he was very arrogant and said "well you had to have had that problem prior to me fixing it" which I didn't. I am still trying to work through all the issues. I won't so back there in the future

I have a HP Pavilion Slimline that was purchased in Aug 2008. As you would expect just passed the 1 year warranty period I started having trouble with the video display ( HP 19? flat panel) . It would intermittently go black. I tried the monitor with the old computer and it worked fine. After re-sitting the video display card (as HP suggest on its web site) with no success. I bought a replacement video card and installed it. This seemed to fix the problem but after a week or so ? same problem occurred. I found NerdPatrol on Angies? list and decided to take the computer in rather than have them come to my house. When I arrived I was met by a young man that was mono-syllabic and not very helpful. I had to fill out the paper work and was not given any kind of receipt for the computer I was leaving in their care. At this point I was having serious doubts about leaving it. Early the next day a Technician (Justin Fields) call to explain that the PCI-E port (whatever that is) on the motherboard was likely ?frying? the video cards. He explained that the motherboard had onboard video so that unless I was doing heavy gaming or graphic, I didn?t need a separate video card. Therefore, he could enable the onboard video which should fix the problem. He also had VERY negative things to say about the Norton anti-virus software that came with the computer and strongly recommended that we remove same and install Kaspersky anti-virus instead. He indicated the Kaspersky software was more complete and would enable the computer to run faster. The repairs were done (as indicated on the Invoice): 1. Disabled UAC 2. Updated OS (Vista) 3. Uninstalled Norton 4. Installed Kaspersky 2010, Logmein, Malware Bytes 5. Cleaned startup, temp files & programs 6. Ran ccleaner & smitfraudfix This was all done for about $189 including the $65 Kaspersky license. When I picked up the computer later in the day, Justin explained that the Kaspersky license allowed the software to be installed on 2 computers, therefore I could upgrade my old computer at no charge. He also told me that since my Norton license had automatically renewed less than 90 days ago I should be able to get my money back from Symantec. Justin offered to walk me through the Norton refund process (not easy to find on their web site), as well as, the removal of Norton and installation of Kaspersky on the old computer once I was home. All this was successfully done, with Justin?s help, later that day. One other point, the cable that came with the monitor was a HDMI and the connector from the motherboard was VGA. Unfortunately, I only had the original HDMI cable. Justin found a VGA cable in the shop and let me have it at no charge ? not an expense item but still! Other than the initial contact experience, I was very impressed with the service and follow on help ? again at no additional charge. I would recommend NerdPatrol and Justin to anyone.

A service person was able to come out the day after my initial call. In fact, he called and asked to come early. He set up the network which required finding a work around to accomplish a link between Windows XP and Vista. He was also very patient and knowledgeable in answering many basic questions regarding the operation of the network and laptop.

They did a great job. I called and told them the problem over the phone. From my description, it seemed obvious that it was a failing hard drive and my computer would not stay on long enough for me to back up recent work. They told me to bring it in that day and they would do their best to save my work but couldn't make any promises. In three hours, they saved all work, replaced the hard drive and re-installed the saved information on the new hard drive. I felt that they went beyond my expectation.

I actually took the laptop in for three things, the mouse was acting erratic, programs would open and close on their own, my wireless card was permanently disabled and my laptop had froze up and I could not unlock. They thought based on description that it might be the hard drive. They installed a new hard drive, which I authorized by phone. However there was no mention that they could not repair the mouse (I now must use an external mouse) and they also installed software I did not authorize. The original estimate was 2 days at cost of $250, when I picked it up the cost was $350. I had them remove the unauthorized software which decreased the cost to $290. It took 4 business days to complete instead of 2. I have used this company previously for desktop computers with very good success. I was not as happy this time and they mentioned many times that laptops were finicky, maybe that is why the results were not as good. Personally what bothered me most was the additional $49 for software I did not need or request. Second, no one mentioned the mouse could not be fixed, although I provided a detailed explanation what was wrong when I dropped the laptop off and the mouse was a major concern. Based on past service, I will give them the benefit of the doubt, just disappointed this time.

Very happy with them, the gentleman that came out was very polite, very informative, and a true gentleman. Only problem is I would have liked to have had an info document so I could learn to do this and that. Price was high but so worth it.

Had to pay 25 extra dollars since I was out of their area but it was worth it. The guy that helped me out was great and knew exactly what I needed. It would have been a 2 hour wait for the call back from the PC provider. He wrote out everything that I needed and what I should tell the provider. They were able to fix online once I told them this info.

I was convinced that my PC troubles were hardware related, but after being in the shop for only about half a day, the tech that worked on my machine reproduced the problem and tracked it down to a missing device driver. He explained the solution to me satisfactorily. He also installed a wireless networking card and driver. I arrived to pick up the PC at 2:05 on Saturday, just after NP closed, but the very nice woman on staff let me pick up my PC anyway, despite the fact that she was late to her own appointment (thank you for that!). The only problem was that by the time I got home (I'd packed the PC well in my car, being extra careful so that the antenna would not get jarred), the wireless card had become unseated. I just opened the case and re-seated it without any trouble, but I could see how that would be disconcerting to someone who doesn't feel comfortable putting a screwdriver to their computer. All in all, it was a good experience, and I'd go back.

Fairly well, they took off several virus but that is all they found. The computer is not shutting down anymore so I guess that was the problem. I thought $150 was a bit high to do what they did.

The technician ran into a recovery issue he'd never seen before, but he still was able to recover most of the data, including all our archived e-mail. After the crash and considering the age of our machine, we decided to get a new computer. Since the new machine would come with Windows Vista, the tech recommended getting the most RAM and CPU power possible; otherwise, Vista would be slow. I'm glad I took his advice, because following the manufacturer's recommendation would have probably resulted in performance issues. They even set up our new e-mail program. They did an excellent job keeping me up to date on how the recovery was progressing and they were conservative on the amount of time they charged. I recommend them to anyone on the East Side.

I called Nerd Patrol to report a problem with my wireless system. The person who answered asked some relevant questions, explained the fee structure and set up an appointment for AJ to come to the house. AJ arrived on time. He identified the problem & took the time to explain it to me in a way that I could understand. I appreciated that he suggested that I try the least expensive alternative to fix the problem. He could have pushed the solution that would have resulted in more income for Nerd Patrol. As an added bonus, he enjoyed interacting with my dogs. Later that day, AJ's instructions (and my teen-age son) helped me fix the problem myself.

I called them to replace my CD/DVD recorder and to replace two 120 gig hard drives with two 320 gigs. When I arrived at their shop their rep realized that all of the DVD recorders had been sold so they did not have one to replace mine. They proceeded with the hard drive exchange, including transferring my data files to the new drives, and charged me for the cost of the new drives only...no charge for labor. Their rep, Justin, indicated he would drop off and install the replacement DVD burner at my residence at no charge. I had them build me a new computer in November, 2006 and have been very happy with its performance. One of the advantages of doing this is that they handle any warranty problems right there, you don't need to ship any items back to the manufacturer yourself. Highly recommend these folks and I will most certainly be purchasing all future computer systems from them.
