This was once a great shop -- my go-to place for repair and shining of shoes. But it has sharply declined, mainly in customer service. The service is often brusque or rude (particularly with the owner; some of his employees are far better). They have missed promised-by dates and times with little apology and more gruffness. I don't pay money to be treated like that -- so now I take my business elsewhere. It's a shame; I used them for years.

I brought in the sandals one day. He asked me when I wanted them. I jokingly said, tomorrow. He said, ok, they would be ready tomorrow after 4:30. I came in the next day about 4:00 because I was in the neighborhood. He said, wait a minute because they were just finishing them up. He gave them to me a couple minutes later and they fit like a glove. It was about as good an experience as it gets.

They not only repair shoes, they will repair anything with leather. And they do an excellent job. My husband has a favorite pair of slippers that he's had for ten years, they keep repairing those and making them look like the day I gave them to him, 'cause they're just really a nice leather. I just took a purse down to them and they repaired the handle and made it look like it was brand new. They even put a new metal buckle on it so it matched the other buckle. I took my Uggs to them; they cleaned the Uggs, made them look fresh and new. They just do anything and everything. They can do some things while you wait; sometimes it's something you just have to leave for a few days and come back and get, depending on what they have to repair. But they do quality work and they're very friendly. Extremely good! That's hard to find, a shoe repair place. They can stretch your shoes if you have a pair of shoes that pinch in one place. You can have them stretch them out in that spot and then they feel comfortable. They do all kinds of things. I refer everybody to them if they have any leather issues. I see people take coats in there; I've seen them repair zippers in people's coats. They will do anything with a piece of leather.

They replaced it within the two week period they said it would take do it in. I received a call when it was ready to be picked up. Nice convenient hours on the weekend. Looked like there were some restaurants and shops in the area to investigate later.

Always used MTLSR and liked them, as they are only a block from my house. But the last time will in fact be the last.
They had a person working there who apparently knew nothing about the shoe business. I dropped off my shoes for their quarterly cleaning and she asked if I wanted some basic repair services. I've had them do this before and it cost ten bucks or so, so I said "Go ahead and do whatever to make them fixed and nice.'
Shame on me for not asking the cost, but I never suspected she'd put them in for a complete resoling (not what I wanted) and that it would take 10 days. Then I get them and they tell me it will be a hundred bucks! When what I really wanted was a cleaning.
Then to top it off my black pair of shoes fell apart - apparently the glue they used was wrong or did not set properly. A complete swindle. Apparently that employee was fired, but it's too late, will never use them or recommend them again. Shoddy work, shoddy sales process, shoddy follow up.

Response from Mt Lookout Shoe Repair
"I'd like some more information into this matter. I would be happy to try and get a happy resolution and restore the shoes to working order. I know it is a lot to ask, but I would like to have another shot at making the customer happy. My dad is the owner and I use to run the front full time and could control more of the flow, but due to such high volumes we have had to hire new employees that have had, unfortunetly similiar problems. If you ask for Mike Jr. I guarantee 110% customer satisfaction, or at least I give it my all to achieve customer happiness! Best I can do is to try and make a peaceful resolution with any unhappy customers and I would appreciate anyone who comes to me directly with any problems."

The shoes were ready on time, the new heels were better quality than the originals, and the shoes were nicely polished. I also got a 10% discount for paying in advance. I would recommend them.

The nylon zipper on my cordura musical instrument case broke. The repairman was able to replace the slides and get it to work without the cost of replacing the whole zipper. Repair took less than a week and was ready when promised.

It was great, I dropped off my shoes and they offered to do the job while I waited, even though it was about 15 minutes before closing. I didn't take advantage of their "while you wait service", but when I came to pick the shoes up, they were ready and waiting. The repairs look great, and they even polished them for me!

Very well. Ready when promised. Both pairs look good. Cleaning bucks really improved their appearance. Discount received for paying in advance.

I had a pair of Cole Hahn's with a unique sole I couldn't get anyone else to touch. They said "no-problem, we'll make them look brand new" and they did. The only reason I even gave them a call is that they were featured in a recent edition.

They did an excellent job and even polished the shoes. The repair store I had been going to for years did not do as thorough a job and charged 24.99. I had called Angie's before going, since I was unhappy with my previous shoe repair. I dropped off the shoes Friday at 2pm and was asked when I wanted them (which was nice). I picked them up Saturday at 12:00.

They ultimately did a very good job -- my only complaint is that it took a while to get it done; it was promised on the 18th, and not finished until the 30th. (In addition -- they didn't call to tell me it was ready, although I had been calling every few days to check on status).

They did the work quickly. The repair work was so good. I could hardly tell where the repair had been. I will trust all my shoes to them from now on!

Wonderful. He did the heels, polished the boots -- all while I was waiting -- about 10 minutes.

THEY WERE PROMPT, COURTEOUS, AND MANAGED TO FINISH THE JOB IN LESS THAN -24- HOURS, RIGHT BEFORE A HOLIDAY! FANTASTIC.
