MFI Construction LLC

The City of Cincinnati was requiring my entire neighborhood to replace sidewalk blocks. Rather than hire the city at a higher price, I hired MFI. Just walk through my neighborhood in Oakley and you'll know where I live, the house with the worse looking two sidewalk blocks out front. Seriously.

Overall it went well.  From the flyer he put on my door, I knew no grass would be planted and from emails (answered within a few days which IMO isn't bad for contractors) I knew it would be done on his schedule but before the city's due date.

It was done on time and is of good quality.  The dirt was left higher than the hole to allow for settling which I appreciated.  I stamped it down myself and planted grass and it looks good now.  I'm happy with MFI's performance.

I received an unsolicited estimate in the mail. After receiving other bids, we decided on MFI Construction because they were the cheapest. I mailed back the agreement to have MFI do the work, however, it took them WEEKS to respond to me. They never gave me a specific work date, they just showed up. Their work is good. The blocks that they replaced are fine.
My biggest complaint is that it took WEEKS to receive a confirmation that they would be doing the work. The owner was very difficult to get ahold of and did not give me an actual work date, just an approximation. My concern was that one of the blocks was in our driveway, so we needed to know ahead of time to make sure we did not have our car in the garage.
An invoice was emailed to me on a Thursday, however, I wanted to confirm that the city signed off on the work, which took a couple of days. I received confirmation from the city on Tuesday (5 days later) and was about to put a check in the mail, but the owner was upset that I did not mail the check sooner and came by to pick up the check in person the next day. This last interaction left me feeling very annoyed because the company was not very quick in their responses to my inquiries during the scheduling process, however, they were very quick to be upset that it took a couple of days for the city to confirm with me that the work passed inspection. I have mixed feelings about whether or not we would use this company again.

Mike did all four jobs and it looks great. The porch had a lot of loose stones that were ready to fall out and now it is nice and snug. He is very quick to respond. His prices are great. I would definitely use him again.

The service turned out fine, I wouldn't say excellent. We did have a problem, but they fixed it.

He gave me a quote approximately half of what the other people were coming through and quoting. They have done the work and they have done an excellent job. In fact, they are doing multiple houses in my neighborhood because of the work they do and also their pricing. The owner's name is Mike. I just enjoyed the quality of the work. They were very fast in what they did. They were very detailed oriented. Mike is that kind of person, and even though, he is hyper kinetic. Of course, it had to comply with the code requirements for the City of Cincinnati, so it does get inspected. I like the way they approached me with the fairest amount. I was very much impressed with the price and the quality of the work was great. I have had several other people come through doing the same work and quoting me as much as $1200 for the same job. This guy came out with $465. The only thing is that the city Cincinnati sends out these listings of contractors that are available. It was surprising how a few of them weren't on Angie's List. MFI wasn't even on city listings. When I was looking for concrete contractors, there wasn't much information about them. They know what they are doing. They know their stuff. They were within a week out here to do the job.
