Merry Maids of West Cincinnati, OH

They charged almost $500.00, which is unbelievably high. They did an okay job. But they don't do background checks, and I had some narcotic medication that was stolen. It wasn't the entire bottom, it was just pills taken out of the bottom. I had the police involved and filed a police report. But I couldn't prove it. I got absolutely no response about this from Merry Maids. I got no reply or apology or whatever from them. It was a no-brainer. I just had it filled and there were pills missing. The only person here was my mother and I, and we were outside doing yard work. Lesson learned, you know? I knew what happened. Pharmacies usually count narcotics about three times, so I know it didn't happen at the pharmacy. They didn't return my calls or the calls from the police. I knew she did it and she knew she did it. It was a very, very bad experience.

The first visit which was the "spring" cleaning was completed by 2 women in 1 1/2 hrs.
The second cleaning which was the first bi-weekly visit was completed by 2 women in 1 hour
The third cleaning which was the second bi-weekly visit was completed by 1 woman in 1 hour
AND
The fourth cleaning which was the third bi-weekly there were two women. While they were
here they lightly dusted, hit the spots that looked dusty, did the toilets, the sinks, lightly
vacuumed the wall to tall carpet throughout, paid no special attention to any room. The kitchen
was one of the special attention rooms and they wiped the counter tops, emptied the waste
basket, dry dusted the floor, but paid no special attention and did not scrub the floor.
The same women were here to clean for 3 of the four visits. On one visit only one person was here.
 
They were here for exactly  28 minutes flat, and were "done" and gone. They were obviously
in a hurry, sloppy and careless during this visit. 
 One of the women who seemed in a particular hurry, dropped two crystal lids from decorative jars onto the top of
an antique table, and when I commented to her she said "Well they were loose".  I asked her
to slow down and be more careful with the items she was handling.  
  
The cost per bi-weekly visit was $88.18 (including tax).  I felt that would be extremely
expensive for a 28 minutes hit and miss bi-weekly visit for cleaning.
What had started out as a reasonably good cleaning decreased in time and scope of cleaning
over the course of 4 total cleaning visits to poorly done and careless.
I decided to discontinued using Merry Maids

I had requested verification of their insurance, workers comp and bonding of their employees
from the manager. The manager indicated he had never been asked for that information before and it took him
several days to provide the workers comp and liability insurance information.  He never
did provide bonding information or proof even after a second request. 

Everything has gone great!

Merry Maids did a good job of cleaning the surfaces they did clean, but they seem to classify a lot of what I consider to be basic cleaning to be extra services.  I don't know how this compares to other services, however, as I used Merry Maids exclusively for several years. Obvious surfaces are cleaned well, and floors are done especially well, but things I myself had considered biweekly cleaning chores apparently were not considered as such by Merry Maids.  They always seem to be in a hurry to get your house done.   Another problem is that some of the staff are a bit careless when they are rushing around , occasionally breaking or dinging furniture and belongings. They are good about acknowledging resposibility and paying for repairs/replacement of things they break, but some things are irreplaceable, so I would advise putting treasured items away before they arrive.  The damaging, which for some reason seemed to become more frequent toward the end of the time I used them, and the fact that I was retiring and had the time to do my own cleaning prompted my decision to discontinue their services.  I might use them again if I did not have time to clean myself, but I would be careful to put away treasured items and/or instruct them not to clean areas/shelves where these items are located.

We stopped using them because the company couldn't seem to keep people working. The girls we had were very good, but they said they were quitting because they weren't happy. They were unhappy with the way they were being treated. They were very good cleaners.

The girls are always on time and do a great job. The cost is worth the service. The girls are very nice and trustworthy. I really don't like people in my home but these girls are just really nice and very professional. They are in and out as quick as they can be.

I don't get the same crew every time but they are pretty good. They are thorough and they don't rush. It always looks good when they are done. I am always satisfied.

I think that they did a good job. I had them come out twice a month, however the charge was per visit. I think that their prices were to high for the quality of the cleaning that I was receiving. I think that they did an okay job, but nothing outstanding. They would tell me what day they were coming out, but they could not give me a time. Whenever I needed to change something they seemed to be okay with that.

I like Merry Maids because they are very dependable. They have never missed a time when they said they were going to come. It is not always the same team. There is always 2 of them, sometimes 3. They are just very pleasant young women, who like to work very efficiently. They do a really good job.

Originally I posted a comment that I felt Merry Maids had done a pretty good job even though they had to come back to finish some areas that were neglected. However, after we moved into our new home I discovered so many places our home had not been cleaned which were contracted to be done. The pantry had dried food on the shelves, the toilet had urine running down the base and that's only the beginning. I will not hire Merry Maids again!

They cleaned for hours and did a good job. They were very personable and friendly.

They came and estimate the cost and size of the job. They gave a price and I accepted. I gave them a key and they cleaned the condo. The work was completed and I went to the office, paid them and picked up the key.

They are personable, polite, well-groomed, and responsible workers. They clean thoroughly and carefully. Each week, they give extra attention to one or two rooms, such as cleaning baseboards, ceiling fans, and blinds. Sometimes we wish they would do a better job of putting items back in place, but they do try. The people in the office are professional and follow up promptly on any questions or problems. They ask us to fill out questionnaires about their performance on a regular basis and even call us to be sure we are happy. We are very satisfied with this cleaning company.

Merry Maids does a satisfactory basic job of surface cleaning the house. The vacuuming or mopping floors, dusting, & sanitizing kitchen & baths are handled efficiently. The thing I wish they would do is wipe down light switches & around the door knobs. Those areas of the house can get grubby & are simply not covered under Merry Maids general services.

THEY'VE CLEANED MY HOUSE FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS. I'VE NOT BEEN HAPPY WITH SOME THINGS AND I WOULD COMPLAIN AND THEY'D FIX THEM FOR A LITTLE WHILE AND THEN IT WOULD GO DOWN HILL AGAIN. WHEN I CALLED TO TELL THEM I WAS GOING TO CANCEL THEIR SERVICE, THEY DIDN'T EVEN TRY TO MAKE THINGS BETTER, THEY JUST SAID OK.
