Merriman Tree'n Stump

The crew arrived on the day the owner stated. The crew called ahead to let us know the arrival time and efficiently removed two trees in our front yard and ground the stumps well below the ground level. Cleanup afterward was very good with no debris left on the grass or street. We would hire again.

I had 2 trees that needed to be removed. One was leaning towards my house, the other was leaning towards the power line from the street to my house. Although I tend to prefer doing things myself, this was a job that had significant risk of damage to my property. I requested quotes from 3 local tree service companies. With all requirements being equal, Merriman promptly responded with the most reasonable bid. Mary Ann was very prompt and flexible throughout the process. Her crew was punctual, respectful, and professional. All work was performed as agreed upon (trees and stumps were removed) without any damage to surrounding structures or landscaping. All debris was removed and the only evidence that work was done was the neat pile of wood chips left by the stump grinder. I would definitely recommend Merriman for any tree removal work and would not hesitate to work with them again. Do yourself a favor, get multiple bids but make sure to get one from Merriman.

This experience was exceptional. Mary Ann and her team are extremely professional, skilled and reliable. They were prompt in every way and although my job was not as large as some others might be, I was treated as though it was always a priority and I was updated continuously. Every effort was made to schedule and complete the work as quickly as possible in spite of challenging weather and I am grateful for a job well done. I would definitely recommend and use this company again.

I had another positive experience with Merriman Tree'n Stump. Yes, I am a repeat customer. I selected them because they were easy to communicate with and they promptly provided a quote that was reasonably priced. My positive experience continued when they gave me ample notice of the date that the work was to be performed, they arrived on time, and they did great work in a professional manner. The workers were friendly, courteous, and respectful, they took care to not disturb the existing vegetation, and they thoroughly cleaned up when they completed their work! Prior to using Merriman, I had a series of shaky and sometimes terrible experiences with other tree and stump removal contractors. But Merriman is top-notch and I will not hesitate to call them again.

We are very pleased with the job. Merriman Tree and Stump were quick to respond to our call and were responsive to our needs for removing the fallen branch which was blocking the front of our house, then they came back and removed the tree and did the rest of the work. The owner of the business was really nice and kept in contact with us. We will not hesitate to call them again for future needs. They did a great job of cleaning up, also.

I received a quote in a timely fashion via e-mail on July 19. I agreed the same day and was told I was on the schedule and they'd be out as soon as possible. The quote explicitly stated that the owner must be home during the work. My tree was brushing against my neighbor's house, and he had asked me to get it trimmed. At this point I had already called two other tree places (Scotty's and one I don't remember) and neither had returned my call or provided a quote. In my reply, I mentioned that I had two large dogs and would appreciate a call before the trimmers arrived so I could make sure the dogs weren't out in my backyard. I was told this wasn't a problem.
Several weeks go by, and my neighbor asks me again about the tree. I e-mail Merriman on 9/10 because I was leaving for vacation that weekend and wouldn't be back for a few weeks. Mary Ann said she'd make sure it was done before I left. Unfortunately, the men who worked on my tree didn't call me before they came out, so I wasn't home. They called me after the completion of work and I was still out. I happened to catch them as they were almost leaving. There were two men, only one really talked to me. If they had called prior to work, I definitely could have made it home.
The tree was definitely off my and my neighbor's houses, but in the past when I'd gotten it done it looked ... nicer (for lack of a better term). There was an odd branch hanging off to the side, which the man admitted they probably should have cut off (I got the impression that if they hadn't been already packed up he probably would have done it). My biggest concern was that the tree looked like it was going to touch my neighbor's house again next year. The first time I had the tree cut I was told I wouldn't need to trim again for another 2-5 years. The man assured it me that I wouldn't need to trim again for around the same amount of time. When I asked about the tree still not looking that great, he said the tree needed lateral thinning, that the tree had been topped before and that's why it looked so bad now. Positive: I definitely felt like he was an expert in tree work.
I asked how payment worked and whether I was to wait for an invoice. The man didn't really know and said to just wait.
When I got back from vacation I related all of this to Mary Ann and she sent me a prompt reply apologizing for not calling, explained that the work order needs to say I wanted the lateral thinning, and she doesn't include any additional work, with the initial proposal as not to try to and quot;selland quot; more services than one is asking for. Unfortunately, I'm certainly not a tree expert, all I knew is that I needed the tree off the house to make my neighbor happy.

Merriman did a great job grinding down our stumps. Their worker was courteous, conscientious and worked hard. He did the job very quickly and thoroughly, and cleaned up very well. Good work at a fair price. We'll use them again.

Each time they have done work for us we have been delighted with the service. They do the job with minimal fuss and mess. You would never even know they had been in your yard (except for our tree was gone!). They are also extremely reasonable with their prices. The time a huge limb fell in a storm we tried to get some local firms to come and take it away thinking it would not be expensive but we were quoted outrageous prices and I called Merriman again to see if they could do it. They came the very next day and were so reasonable. Mary Ann is a really nice lady to deal with too. Trees are expensive, but I would give the business to this company any day of the week. :)

they arrived when they said they would, very professional, they performed all the contracted services to my satisfaction and did a very nice job of cleaning up.

Service was provided on a reasonable schedule. Crew was very professional and equipment: crane, shredder and front loader all proper for the job and in good condition. Other than doing well what they were contracted to do, the best things I can say about them is how professional and COURTEOUS the foreman and crew were. They cleaned up better than I expected after finishing the job. They had proper insurance and references. Will definitely call them again for similar work.

They showed up on time, worked very hard all day and cleaned up the yard extremely well. It was a tough job that required a great deal of climbing work and a great deal of clean up work. They were great!

This is a very reliable, high quality contractor. I had a massive tree fall in a storm, blocking driveway. Mary Ann responded immediately to have a crew clear access, then followed up to remove the tree and clean up like the incident never happened.
I asked for more proposals for tree trimming, and she responded professionally and promptly, and again did excellent work. I highly recommend Merriman.

The work went well. The tree won't need trimming again for a long time...they trimmed it up quite high. They did an excellent clean-up job afterwards.
The only glitch with this provider was that we weren't sent an estimate when we were told we would receive it. The owner of the company apologized...she thought she'd sent it but hadn't. We received the estimate the night before the work was to be done...it was part of a much larger job for our next door neighbor...they were having more trees trimmed and two removed. That large job was scheduled, and we were told the night before. We weren't entirely happy with the situation because we had been told our driveway would be needed for the crane. As it turned out, our driveway was not needed. All went well and we were happy with the final job and clean-up. We would call this company again.
The men who did the work were professional and polite.

They did a great job! We had a very large dead ash tree about 8 feet from the house. Workers trimmed the tree and dropped the trunk into the nearby woods. They later returned and grinded up the very large trunk. Workers did a great job of cleaning up and they were very professional. They showed up on the day promised. Mary Ann communicated with us in a timely fashion. They had a very reasonable and fair price.

The company showed up on time and completed the job in a professional manner. The employees were very courteous and answered all of my questions and didn't seem to mind that I watch them do their acrobatic work for over an hour. An interesting aspect of their service is the removal and reintroduction of nest of birds and other animals (I actually had none and I don't know how they would have dealt with something like a raccoon nest).
I think the tell tale sign of a good company is when they run into unexpected costs but still honor the original contract. This happened on the job that they did at my personal residence. The original quote did not contemplate the use of a crane but I suppose with the wind gusts on the day of the removal, they felt that the safe thing to do was to bring in a crane. I was impressed.

Very professional people from quoting to clean-up. 3 men were supposed to arrive, but only 2 showed. Both men worked very hard to complete the job in less than 2 days. One was in the trees trimming and the other, on the ground, removed the cuttings and hauled them to be grinder. Most of the debris had to be hand carried from the back of the house to the front. The trimmer climbed the trees, to be trimmed, without spikes so as to not damage them. At times he looked like a circus performer and gymnast. He only used spikes on the trees to be removed. One of the trees, to be removed, was very large and at the far back of the yard. Others who quoted the job wanted to use mechanical equipment to remove the large pieces which would have damaged the yard during the removal. These 2 men removed all without damage to my lawn. The clean-up was excellent and the yard was cleaner than before they started.
Merriman quoted the job about $1000 lower than the others.

Looked up the website and emailed Mary Ann about the work we wanted done. Received a written estimate by email within a few days. Very reasonable estimate. We made some minor changes to the contract. Despite cold wet weather the crew showed up within a few days and completed the work. As the ground was wet and soft they parked their equipment truck on the driveway in front. After trimming the very big tree in the backyard they took all the limbs and brush around by hand. The tree is huge and so were the limbs so this was no quick, easy job. They did a great job and cleaned up everything, even the sawdust! They are all very friendly and helpful. We have used this company in the past. They are always very reasonable and very considerate. Always do very good work! We would definitely recommend them. I don't think you will find a better crew or a more reasonable charge for this kind of work.

Merriman Tree'n Stump's price was by far the best of the quotes we got. We had a 95 year old tree cut down. They had to get it down with a crane, cut it up and haul it away. It was a pretty big job.
