My wife was not satisfied with the commercial doilies available to put under some antique lamps we had purchased, and so after reading Angie's List reviews for Dao's alterations, I visited the shop and explained what I was looking for. She helped me to know what fabric to purchase and how much to obtain. She was at first reluctant because she had never done a project like this and also I needed some cotton fabric for the backing that I had not bought yet (just some crushed velvet).  We mapped out the size my wife wanted for the various pieces.  A week earlier than her estimated date, Ms. Dao called us and let us know the items were done. When I showed up, I was very impressed that they were even nicer than we had hoped and very professionally done.  She said she put a lot of effort into it because she knew that each time we saw the doilies on our tables, we would think of her work on the project.  She has a lot of pride in what she does and is a real old-school professional - and I mean that as a major compliment.

Kim took in all the dresses, pants and tops so they fit perfectly. She took her time in having me try on each piece and measuring how much needed altering. Every piece turned out exactly as I wanted.

I met with Kim at her shop and she measured the dress and jacket for lengths to my designation. She had the outfits ready for fitting within a few days and we had an appointment for fitting. They were done perfectly. The hems looked professional. You could not tell they had been altered. I am headed back there now to get another jacket altered. I recommend her highly.

Kim was able to get us in when all others were booked full. She did a great job and it looked great. I couldn't believe how quickly she had it back to us as well. I will definitely go back to her for any other alterations I need done.

It was a wonderful experience even from the first contact. I had called another service who were abrupt with me. My experience with her was the opposite, she was gracious on the phone, gave me prices, did great work, is honest about doing the work. I have recommended her and plan to use her again.

The owner is very friendly and experienced. She was very fair, too. She was not sure that she could repair the coat and was honest with me about it but she promised to try. The service was performed in a timely manner and the price was unbeatable.

See above. A coworker told me about Kim. She had not used her services but she had heard about her and told me that she used to work in the Reading bridal district and for Parisian years ago. (I assumed if she had experience doing bridal alterations, she could most likely handle working on a silk dress.)
