KATHRYN MECKLER DESIGN

We got KM's contact info from a neighbor who had used KM to decorate several rooms. We hired her to help decorate several of our rooms, but the client service was terrible from the outset. She had no sense of urgency, rarely communicated, missed appointments, and when she finally came over, she was ill prepared. She also lied repeatedly about a number of items, including the status of project or the prices on materials. We made a deposit on some drapes in Nov 2006 with the understanding it might take until March to get them since the material was supposedly coming from Thailand. March came, and no drapes. I called her many times trying to get a status update and she did not respond for the longest time. I still haven't heard from her and still don't have any drapes. I have gotten my attorney involved. She was also so lax in finding an installer for some tile in our kitchen that I had to take over the project, re-draw the design, hire the installer, and execute the project.

Remember reading an article in the Cincinnati Enquirer a couple of years ago and was impressed by what was presented. When it came time to redesign and make improvements to my home I contacted Kathryn. She came to the house and had some really great ideas. She presented us a contract and required a down payment to begin work. Back in March of 2006, we signed the contract and wrote her a check for $15,000 (1/2 the amount of the total job cost). Months went by and nothing. We tried contacting her on a number of occasions with no response. Finally when we did make contact, she had no concrete answers on the status of our order. Then she asked us for another $5500.00 deposit for the window treatments we ordered in May (again, 1/2 the amount of total due when completed). It is now February - back in December we did receive a few of the pieces ordered, along with her word that the rest of the work would be completed by the end of December. It never transpired. Probably won't.
