I had a contract with Dale Terry, owner of Heritage Home Remodeling, to remodel my master bathroom including a steam shower, heated floors and new cabinets. He told me the job would be complete in 4 weeks. Almost 4 months later, the work was not complete and he subsequently walked off the job. I tried calling, texting and emailing and I never received a response. Several times during the 4 months he would not show up for days with no communication. After he walked off the job, the upstairs toilet he installed leaked, causing damage to the ceiling I just had painted. The electrical work for the steam shower was done incorrectly, which could have resulted in a fire. The heated floors were installed incorrectly, which also could be a fire hazard. The cabinets were not level and the drawers were installed on the wrong side. The tile in the shower was not laid and sealed properly, resulting in standing water. He left trash everywhere, including the garage and the attached bedroom. Before I signed the contract, he told me a licensed plumber and electrician would work with him to complete the job and their fees were included in the contract. He never had a plumber or electrician come to my house. When I inquired about that, he told me he wanted to ?keep costs down?. He said he had consulted with a plumber on several occasions regarding the steam shower installation. After Dale walked off the job, I called the plumber and he said he hadn?t talked to Dale in months and he also was owed money from a previous job he worked with Dale. I paid Dale several thousand dollars in advance to purchase materials that I never received. He did not pay a sub contractor, which resulted in the sub contractor threatening to put a lien on my house. He left a wet saw in my garage that he rented from Home Depot. I called Home Depot and was told Dale rented it months ago and his account was in collections.

The project started fine with Dale Terry doing as he was supposed to. He would occasionally call off for a day to go hunting, but we did not make a big deal of this. Eventually the project dragged on and on, months longer than it was supposed to. Then, after we made payments on schedule for the full project, he left and would not return numerous attempts at correspondence to complete the project. After investigating the situation, we learned he had lied to us on multiple instances, including saying the vanity was messed up by the manufacturer and that's why it was not in on time. In truth, the vanity was never ordered by Dale. He simply took our money and ran, never to be heard from again. Through the Clermont Civil Court system we received judgment for our complaint in our favor and Dale is due to pay us almost $15,000 for his breach of contract. I would STRONGLY recommend no one use his services. This is not the first time a similar case has been brought up against Dale Terry and Quality Home Services as we have to get in line behind at least one other party before we can collect on our judgment.
Description of Work: Dale Terry of Quality Home Services was to remodel our master bathroom from start and demolition until its conclusion. The job was to include demolition of our previous bathroom, installation of new vanity, countertop, shower fixtures, glass shower door, sink fixtures, and tiling. Dale performed most of this work, but left WITH OUR FULL PAYMENT before it was completed. He did most of the tiling and shower, but did not supply or install the vanity and countertop for which we had paid him.
