Hartman Painting did a lovely job with the painting. They patiently worked with me to arrive at a contract that addressed all of the specific concerns I had with such a comprehensive painting job. They were attentive to detail in all areas of the home, including the trim around windows, and preparation of walls for painting. They are careful to use a high quality of paint, to finish rooms with sufficient coats of paint, and to use a gloss that will look attractive in that area of the home. They made suggestions for what would work well in various rooms regarding the type of paint, gloss levels etc. They marked the walls and areas so that my color choices for specific parts of the home were followed; although my color scheme was a two-tone approach (one trim color and one wall color) throughout the house and not complicated, they did everything accurately. They have good light carpentry skills, of the type required as part of painting work - e.g. sanding down doors and making adjustments to trim areas, hardware catch plates and hinges. They were respectful about protecting the floors and other protective measures I requested for covering areas of the home during the work. There was one small area where I wish they had covered more fully when sanding, but that was the exception. The results have the beautiful, finished look of professional painting and the work was completed within a reasonable time frame. In addition, they replaced door hardware for me - knobs and hinges. They spent some time working out an adjustment to the hinges so that the doors would close properly and not bind, a problem created by newer hinges not being made with metal/construction that is as thick as the originals; they arrived at a creative solution for shimming the hinges so that the doors would move and shut freely. They also are willing to return and touch-up the painting after I have some additional work done in the home that could lead to some knicks and 'dings' on the walls. They are very busy, but have been considerate in trying to accommodate my scheduling needs as well. The painting crews are unusually well-organized so that a senior crew members is there in a supervisory capacity with your job at all times, and one feels that everything is being handled in a trustworthy and responsible manner. I was impressed that they never leave waste at your job site, but have an environmentally sound site where they dispose of all painting-related materials and waste. They are EPA- Certified to handle lead paint, although that was not an issue in my home. No one attempted to send any undesired materials or waste down my toilets or utility sink drains. The work crews that have been there thus far have all been respectful and trustworthy persons to have in my home: along with the quality of their work, Wayne Hartman seems to emphasize this aspect of his business, which I think is as important to many homeowners as the quality of the work itself. I found Wayne and his crew leaders to be very responsive and available for communication about matters large and small during the painting and hardware work. I would highly recommend them and plan to work with them in the future.

It went extremely well. Tony's crew was awesome. This is the 3rd time we have used Hartman and have never been disappointed and will not hesitate to use them again. You may find less expensive painters but none as good. Much of the cost of this job went to the outdoor gazebo which was sanded, rust spots cleaned, primed and 2 coated with a high grade industrial enamel. Inside, patching nail holes and "dings" was well done and even included repairing loosened drywall corner bead. You will have to remove fragile items from the room and move smaller furniture items to the center of the room. They will move heavier items away from the walls.

They were very professional, the work was completed with the quality and care expected. There were some unexpected "extras" which we felt were included in our original quote, but those issues were resolved through conversation and communication to our satisfaction.

Work was good. When I was in the house, watching the work, the work was very good but halfway through my mother was hospitalized and I was no longer in the house. The work done after that was not as good. So my message, be available to supervise

The cost was one of the more expensive quotes I had received, however when he came to look and give a quote, they were the only people to hand me a packet of info with all their information and certificates inside. Very professional and knew what they were doing. Very friendly and they even had no problem fixing an area of the house they had already painted that I wanted changed to the other color. Definitely would use again!

This review has been 2 years in the making, so I will try to be concise. First, I want to be fair by saying we selected Hartman for our exterior painting due to the quality of several jobs the company did in our neighborhood, so we know they do very good work, unfortunately, this was not our experience. 
We had three areas of wood siding on our 1937 home that needed to be painted so we contacted Hartman Painting for an estimate in the summer of 2013.  They were prompt and came out to give the estimate in a timely fashion.  At the time of the estimate, the area in the front of the house had pretty significant cracking, lifting and peeling of the paint, however this was never noted by the rep from Hartman as being an issue.  They suggested pressure washing and scraping, sanding and priming the affected areas prior to painting.  We decided to go with Hartman and a start date was set and the work was completed.  
Initially, the work looked fine, however within approximately 1 month of completion, we started to notice light spots and some peeling of the paint.  We contacted Hartman and was told it was too late in the season to do any additional work, but to monitor and contact them in the spring for warranty work.  Fast forward to spring 2014, we contacted Hartman as instructed to arrange for someone to come out for warranty work and after multiple emails and a couple months, someone came out to look at the issues.  Warranty work was completed and again within weeks of completion, we could see light spots and there was additional peeling and cracking in the paint.  I again contacted Hartman by email and was told repeatedly someone would be out.  Finally, in October 2014 I was given an explanation as to why no one had been by yet, which I completely understood, so I said no problem, I'll touch base in the spring.  Fast forward to Spring 2015.  I sent emails to Hartman Painting on 4/3, 6/8 and 7/1 and finally got a reply saying there had been a mix up in the office as the cause for the lack of response.  At any rate, we set a day for Wayne to come by the house.  I was unable to be there but was supposed to receive a call or email with the results of the inspection, never happened.  On 7/19 I followed up by email and received the reply that Wayne had stopped by on 7/9 and the issues with the paint are related to the old paint lifting off the wood and therefore not covered under the warranty.  Based on this response I questioned why we were never advised that the paint would unlikely hold another coat of paint or that more extensive prep work might be needed to prevent failure of the paint job and quite frankly, why they agreed to do the job given the paint looked just like it does now at the time of the estimate and never received a response. 
At this point, we have decided not to follow this up any further with Hartman Painting and my husband is planning to rent scaffolding and correct the issue with the paint job himself.  As I said in opening of this review, I do think Hartman does good work.  I question why the condition of the original paint was not brought up at the time of the initial estimate and why we were lead to believe basic prep would be adequate. We were not looking for cheap, we were looking for right and we got neither.  I'm rating quality as fair because the paint on the sides of the house has been fine.  Overall, really disappointing as we were super excited to be working with this company.

I am very pleased with the quality of the service, the walls and deck look fantastic!  The team was professional, prompt and easy to deal with.  They even let my dog out while I was at work for the day.  The only thing that could have gone a little better with the crew was communication while on the job.  I thought they were done with the deck so I moved everything back onto it, only to find out they still needed to come out for the 2nd coat...so then had to move everything again. There was a bit of a wait to schedule the work, however I know the weather has not been super cooperative and I wasn't in a hurry, so this was not a big deal for me.  They kept me informed of the expected date and held to it when it came around.  The dry wall repairs and deck repairs I requested were extra and charged by the man hour.  The labor charges that came in at the end of the project were higher than expected, but the quality of the work was very good.  Overall I'm happy and would use them again.

They're a professional company and have always done a good job. The two techs showed up on time and it took the whole day to do.

Reasonably priced. I got 3 quotes and Hartman was the best, 2 coast at a reasonable price. Panting very good. All employees friendly and worker kept work area neat and clean. On time.

The Hartman Painting Co. painted the exterior of our house a couple weeks ago. They met our expectations, and the house looks great. I enjoyed working with Wayne Hartman, and we would use their company again.

Very pleased  with the exterior paint work.  Due to a very busy schedule and summer rain, the work began two months after the initial estimate, however when the work commenced it was done in a organized and timly manner.   Very happy with the professional job done by all the crew.  In light of the winter we are having, grateful the job was complete in the Fall.  Thank you Hartman!

Everyone associated with Hartman Painting Company was completely professional from Scott who gave us the estimate to Jana the colorist to Tony the foreman and his entire crew.  We would absolutely recommend them.

It went great. They showed up in the morning, repaired a few areas of drywall, then applied the paint. Everything was done perfectly. There was nothing for them to come back and fix.

I called them two days ago, saying I needed the spot and crack fixed right away because we were having important people over. He and one of his painters showed up today at 8:15 a.m. They got to work right away. I didn't even have the original paint, but they used what they had. I had to leave for an appointment and they finished up. The painter left for another job and to give the first coat time to dry. Then, he came back and finished up. They were careful to cover my computer area with plastic to avoid drips. I got home in late afternoon and was sitting there, working away. I had forgotten they had come over in the morning. Sudddenly, I remembers and looked up. The repair job was flawless. This is really a classy company, by the way. Wayne, the owner, has a bachelor's degree in accounting and finance from UC, but he doesn't like the corporate life so many years ago he went back to what had been his summer job, painting interiors and exteriors. So, he's a professional-type person doing work he enjoys doing. Oh, about the price. We didn't know how much it would cost, because we were unsure whether we would need paint, so we went on an hourly rate. The prices was very reasonable. I am absolutely delighted!

I left an after hours message on 6/1/2011 for someone to call me the next day. Scott called me on 6/2/2011 and we scheduled an appt for 6/3/2011. Scott was very prompt and looked very professional. I showed him around my main floor that I wanted painted and trim work. Scott took down all the necessary information and gave my quote to me at that time.

I asked for a couple of references and even checked with the BBB. Everything checked out. Later the same day, I called Scott to see when I could schedule to have my home painted.
Scott mentioned a couple of dates, which 6/7/2011 worked out best for me.

The crew showed up as planned, were very professional, extremely detailed and cleaned up nicely when finished!

Hartman painting did an excellent job working with me to choose just the right color for the exterior and trim on my house. They kept working until I was completly satisfied. They showed up when they said they were going to and finished the job on time.
