Maury showed up early, explained what service he was going to provide, asked if I had any questions.  He made several passes through the condo going from room to room inspecting different systems as a group (e.g. electical) to make sure he was comprehensive.  Once he was finished, he took me on a tour show me each issue that he found, explaining what the problems were, whether they serious or minor, and what action would be needed to resolve the issue (licensed electrician, plumber etc. etc.)  At every point he asked if I had any questions and spent as long as needed to explain things to myself and my family who were also present at the inspection.  He delivered the inspection report as promised the next day.
Overall, I would say that Maury was prompt, professional, extremely competent, reasonably priced, communicated clearly and was trustworthy.  He found a number of issues that both I and my very experienced real estate agent missed - one of which was a faulty electrical panel that was a fire hazard and would cost $2000 to repair.  Because he caught it, the seller agreed to pay the cost of the repair.
I would recommend him without hesitation.

He was fantastic and we were so happy with that. He was very thorough. The made a point of making sure that I could come out to the house and see the walk through with him. He explains everything he is looking at to me and whether I should bring somebody else to look at things that are potentially huge. He found black mold in the attic of the house we were looking at and he was actually able to turn around a mold inspector who we were happy with. He gave us a good recommendation. He was actually very responsive when I called him a couple of times with followup questions. He gave a wonderful report with pictures attached and every comment he made and we were able to share that with the contractors. We haven't had anything go wrong that he did point out to us.

I have a big house and he went through everything meticulously. All the findings that he found, I took care of, and some of the findings he told me he said not to do the repairs unless the homeowners say they want them done because it might not be a move point with them and they might not be interested in getting it done. It saved me a lot of money. The new homeowners had a home inspection done on our house and they found nothing. He was extremely good. If anybody needs an inspector to sell or buy a house, get him. I was really pleased with him. I like the details that he gave. I like his professionalism, he was detailed, and he took a lot of time to go over everything, and then he sat down and explained everything to me in details as to whether I should or should not fix it. Somebody can use him even if they own their home and had it for quite a while, and needed to know what kind of repairs were needed. You have repair people come to your house all the time who would say, "You need this done. You need that done." They are just trying to drum up business. He would evaluate and say there is nothing wrong with your roof, you just need maybe a little maintenance done on it, you don't need a new roof. It can save people a lot of money. If people think that what you have to pay him is a lot of money, you actually save a lot of money by having him do that, and tell you what you need to repair and what you don't. I have already recommended him to people.

Mr. Drummey inspected the entire house and we were able to receive his report that evening.  We have used him in the past and think he is wonderful.  Very thorough report with pictures to explain defects.

Two home inspections
Response from Greater Cincinnati Housing Evaluation Service

"I first received notification of [member name removed] complaint regarding the retaining wall problem when Angies List contacted me, by email, regarding a recent posting on Angie’s list. I contacted [member name removed] regarding this issue the same day. With her permission, I returned to her home to view the wall and discuss the problem with her the same day. At the home [member name removed] and I viewed the retaining wall. The wall has experienced movement resulting in a crack of about one inch in width with vertical displacement of not greater than one inch. In spite of this movement the wall is plumb. I explained the [member name removed] that the wall had not failed structurally and required a repair to the crack not re-building of the entire wall. [member name removed] indicated that she had hired an engineer to evaluate the wall and that (her) engineer indicated that the wall required re-building. [member name removed] stated that (her) engineer had provided a verbal report and that she had no written report from (her) engineer. I asked [member name removed] permission to bring an engineer with experience in residential and commercial structural repair to view the wall and she agreed. The following day I met the engineer and [member name removed] at the property . The engineer agreed with my conclusion regarding the condition of the wall and discussed his findings with [member name removed] The “fix” of the wall noted in [member name removed] complaint in the amount of “upwards of $20,000” would entail the re-building of the entire wall not a repair to the cracked section (of the wall) which is located in the middle third of the wall. It is my opinion and that of the engineer (I brought to the property) that the retaining wall requires repair of the crack and not the re-building of the entire thirty plus foot wall. The home inspection I provide is both through and well documented. A retaining wall crack of that size would have been very obvious at the time of the inspection. Had a crack of that size existed at the time of the inspection I would have reported the crack, documented it with a picture and taken the position that the crack required repair. The inspection I provide is based on observations of conditions which existed at the time of the inspection and not any future condition which may occur. I think the situation regarding the retaining wall is unfortunate for [member name removed] I wish she would have contacted me directly regarding the problem prior to taking her complaint to Angie’s List. I believe that the information she received from her engineer is incorrect regarding the resolution of this issue. Maury Drummey February 17, 2013"

Maury was great. He agreed to inspect the interior of the house that I just purchased in the coldest day of January and provided a precise, detailed report of interior (excludes mold/ termite/ lead testing). As soon as weather improved he inspected the exterior of the house and provided a finalized report the next day. I appreciate his advice on how to keep my costs low during renovation. Easy going, to the point, punctual.

Maury Drummey was great. A ideal professional and very good home inspector. He went floor to floor and looked at everything and let us ask questions and explained everything. He saved us what would have been over $25,000 in repairs and replacement costs. The inspection he let us be there thru the whole process. Very workmanlike. Excellent report emailed to us the same evening. The inspection was about three hours and went over everything inside and out. I would highly recommend  Maury and use him again in the future.

FABULOUS!!!  I only had 5 days to get the inspection scheduled and done... Maury was able to fit me in and he arranged for the termite and radon to be completed also.  Maury was very patient, paid attention to details and pointed out things I can see now, but hadn't seen before, even being at the house more than a dozen times previous.  He spent time and did walk thru verbal report with me on site, in addition to the written detailed report.  I felt very confident in his knowledge, ability and thoroughness.  I feel very confident in the information I now have because of the walk thru with Maury to negotiate some costly repairs before closing on this house.  He is truly a homebuyers "gem" in the Queen City. Thanks again.  I will definitely refer Maury to anyone and if this house doesn't work out, I will use him for the next house I buy!

We called Mr. Drummey on short notice needing a whole house inspection for a 3-level condominium we had contracted to buy.  He responded immediately and agreed to work within our tight schedule.  The inspection was thorough (3 hours) and systematic.  He probed every space from roof to basement and documented all of his findings with digital photographs.  He shared these findings in clear language on-site, and in a written (and again, extremely detailed) report within 24 hours of the inspection.  Thanks to him, this aspect of our move was smooth and stress-free.

I was with Maury during the inspection and he was very patient to answer all of my questions and to explain the nuances to me. The inspection was incredibly thorough and after two years in the house has proven to be very accurate. The issues he pointed out are the ones we have had to deal with since moving in. We have not run into unexpected issues. Maury also stands behind his work and was able to help us sort out a question we ran into while having a plumber perform work for us which was covered under the home warranty after we moved in.
I would and do highly recommend Maury Drummey for home inspections.

- The radon and termite inspections could not be performed the same day we had the home inspection, but Maury insured both were performed prior to the home inspection. He also confirmed that we had received both reports.
- Maury had already arrived when my husband and I got to the house. He performed a thorough inspection of the outside of the house (about 45 minutes), then explained what he had found and walked us around the home, pointing out his observations. He then did the same for each part of the inside of the house (1st floor, 2nd floor, and basement).
- Maury remained neutral throughout, giving us clear explanations of the defects he found, why they were defective, and what steps would be necessary to correct the damages.
- The entire inspection took a little less than 3 hours.
- That evening, Maury sent us a thorough report of all his observations. All observations were clearly stated and accompanied by detailed photographs with each item clearly labeled. I appreciated that the photos were not only of damages but of items we might need to identify in the future (e.g. pointing out the water shut off valve in the basement, etc.).
- My only recommendation would be about timing. Our appointment was at 9am, but since Maury does his full outside inspection outside before going over the results with the buyers (which makes sense), my husband and I sat around the house, doing nothing, until 9:45. It would have been helpful to have been asked to come slightly later (maybe 9:30) so weren't sitting around needlessly.

Maury Drummy is a Godsend!  Angie's List and Maury Drummy (of G. C. Housing Evaluation Service) saved me from making the biggest financial mistake of my life.
I telephoned Maury because a friend of mine in Taylor Mill, KY wanted to sell me his house of ten years.  I've just retired and have decided to move away from a high cost of living metropolitan area on the east coast and move to the friendly midwest - northern Kentucky or Ohio.  Before signing a Sales Agreement with my friend based on the valuation of the VA appraiser, I checked Angie's List and contacted Maury based on the excellent reviews.  As others have written, Maury is professional, courteous, very patient, and extremely detailed.
Among other things, he house the house had mold, burnt electric wiring, loose roof shingles (on a "new roof put in four years ago"), a foundation wall had moved in the basement, both the wooden front porch and back deck had untreated wood which was cracked, warped, and loose (I would essentially have to tear down the 20x12 front porch and pay for a new one), vinyl siding needing repairs, missing fencing which might allow neighborhood children to drown in the pool, and on and on and on.
The cost to bring the house up to code and make it a safe, healthy and livable home would have been -at the very least - half the asking price.  Based on the valuation in the VA appraisal, I believe the person did not bother to walk downstairs or go on the roof, but simply did comparisons of housing in the area.  But trusting my friend, I was ready to pay that amount.  In reality, the house is worth 75% of the VA appraisal.
Thanks to Maury, I now realize I would have had to spend at least $175,000 to buy and repair the house which I could then resell for  approximately $85,000.
One last note:  I do not live in Ohio or Kentucky, and transacted all business with Maury over the telephone and via the Internet.  He went to the house, spent approx. two and a half hours on a cold January afternoon inspecting the property from the fence to the street and from the top of the chimney (which needs repairs) to the basement floor (which has mold), came home and wrote up
an extremely detailed 28 page report with photographs containing arrows, and sent me both the report and an invoice.  He did not ask for payment up front; he trusted me to pay him.  This is an example of why I want to retire to this area - people like Maury!  I will continue looking for a house in the area, and I will engage Maury in inspect them before making a purchase decision.
Thank you Angie's List, and thank you Maury Drummy of Greater Cincinnati Housing Evaluation Service.  Maury represents what is great about this country!

I called to arrange a whole home inspection with additional Termite and Radon inspections on a home my wife and I are buying.  Mr. Drummey answered promptly, gave me a quick estimate of the cost of the Whole Home Inspection and the additional services, which he arranged with another contractor.  We settled on a date and time, he informed me of what to expect and requested that my wife or myself (or both of us) be present to go over items as he performed the inspection so that we would be sure to have a full understanding of his findings.  By the time we arrived, Mr. Drummey had already begun the inspection and he informed us of everything he had found up to that point, then continued on.  The inspection was very thorough and the report was sent promptly via email in an easy to read format with color coding for items that were of critical importance vs. moderate importance or maintenance items.
After we received the report, I received a call from Mr. Drummey letting me know that he was available to us for any questions we might have or to go over any specifics in the report.  Once the WDI and Radon inspections were completed by the other contractor and we received the reports, Mr. Drummey also called again to ensure that we understood the results of those reports and the ramifications of the findings.
Overall, we are VERY happy with the service we were provided and would not hesitate to recommend Mr. Drummey to our friends, family and neighbors.

Maury did an extremely thorough and professional inspection, finding a serious structural flaw in the foundation of the home I intended to purchase.  He also pinpointed other issues, less serious but important.  I've purchased properties in the past and have never had a better inspector.  I'd recommend Maury to everyone needing home inspection services and will use him every time such services are needed in the future.

My wife and I recently put in a purchase offer for a home in our neighborhood.  Needing a home inspection, we turned to Angie's List which lead us to Greater Cincinnati Housing Evaluation Service through the many positive reviews.  After Maury completed the detailed and professional inspection of the home, I concur with the other reviewers of the service -- I wouldn't hesitate to call Maury again for any applicable consultation.   He was comprehensive in his work and answered all questions, even making himself available for any follow-ups we might have.

Full home inspection.  Each phase of the inspection was done meticulously and after each phase we would go through and review each of his findings in great detail.  Overall he spent about 4 hours inspecting a 2088sqft ranch with a full unfinished basement.  The provided report was very detailed and included pictures where necessary.  I would definitely recommend to a friend and I recommend anyone on Angie's List to use this company.
