Although I had used this company successfully once before for a family member's laptop, this was the first time I had mine worked on and I was most disappointed.  My experience required more than one trip for the same issue and ultimately most of the issues were not resolved, leaving me frustrated with my laptop and dealing with ongoing issues.
For example, while using Internet Explorer, I suddenly encountered problems with the Calendar function.  When opened, it would flash repeatedly and could not be read or updated.  In the end, CCC did not know why it did that and could not correct it.  Their solution was to switch over to Goggle Chrome when I needed my Calendar.  I was already doing that when I brought the laptop in and did not want to have to change between the two every time I needed my Calendar.  It created numerous problems.  Bing had become a default over Google for searching and CCC made the easy adjustment in one place and not the other.  Having to switch between IE and Chrome created several other inconsistencies as well and required me to re-do favorites, logons, etc. so that I could use both.  Basically, it has made Calendar very hard to use and sync with my phone.  In the clean up process, my toolbars changed and now it is harder for me to navigate in both IE and Chrome without taking extra steps.  Running both IE and Chrome is not a viable solution.
Another issue I had been having involved the fingerprint logon.  After I had tried to add a family member, it worked for some programs but not others.  Since I was bringing the laptop in, it seemed like a good time to correct that.  CCC seemed unfamiliar with the feature and despite a lot of trial and error, the situation remains unresolved.
One of the more important issues that I had was that when I backed up my laptop to my external hard drive, I received a message indicating an error had been encountered.  I saw message logs that said zero files had been copied.  This represented a critical concern because I use the hard drive to ensure irreplaceable digital photos aren't lost.  The CCC tech turned off my Norton backup, which did not have adequate storage space anyway, made a onetime backup to Windows, and said everything was working with my hard drive.  However, I tried to back-up to my hard drive today for the first time since the repair and got the identical error message.  I looked at the error log and it was 32 pages long.  I have no comfort level that my files are being backed up fully and correctly.
Although I paid in full for the repair service, I still have the most pressing issues and will have to take the laptop somewhere else shortly.  This is very disappointing and frustrating.  In looking for a new service provider, I am going to try to find a place that has more techs so that if one is unfamiliar with something or cannot resolve an issue, perhaps another can.  At CCC, I only observed and interacted with 1 repair person.

Greater Cincinnati Computer took an old computer, an old Gateway and they were able to get all my files off the hardrive, it was a Gateway system we purchased in 1998. And the separation with Y2K I thought that I had done the right thing by downloading the hardrive files onto a disk, but as the people told me even the disc at this late stage probably deteriorated. The Hewlitt Packard system that we got in 2008 was not able to accept or read the floppies that we had prepared off the Gateway System. Fortunately that's what they were able to do. They were honest up front by saying this was dicey they couldn't give me guarantee that they could get anything off the hard drive. When they gave me the flash drive and I plugged it in in my Hewlitt Packard, it looked like everything that I ever put on that hard drive was on that flash drive. So that was like a miracle.  Also they were able to recycle old office equipment that was the other service that I was looking for.  The were able to recycle the old Gateway.  This was all done for under $100.

They will come to your home, which is great for me. Jim spent a couple of hours cleaning up the computer and removing un-needed items. He advised the new parts I needed, which he went to get for me. He came back installed and I was up and running again and it is working great now. He was very patient and answered any questions I had. He called prior to let me know when he would arrive. I couldn't have asked for more.

ALSO, I GET THE IDEA THAT FRED WAS NOT AS HELPFUL AND GAVE ME THE RUNAROUND WHEN I CALLED HIM AND ASKED HIM ABOUT TESTING THE FAXING CAPABILITIES OF THE PRINTER. I HAVE CALLED SEVERAL TIMES TO TRY TO DETERMINE IF THE FAXING CAPABILITY IS WORKING PROPERLY. THE LAST CONVERSATION THAT I HAD WITH I.A.P. WAS ON MARCH 12. WHEN I TALKED TO FRED & TOLD HIM THE FAXING CAPABILITY DID NOT WORK-HE COULD NOT RECEIVE A FAX MESSAGE FROM ME-HE SAID HE WOULD HAVE A SERVICE TECHNICIAN CALL ME WHICH HAS NOT HAPPENED AS OF THIS DATE. HP, WHO I HAD TO CALL LONG DISTANCE, TOLD ME TO CALL MY TELEPHONE CO. REGARDING MY TELEPHONE CONNECTIONS. WHEN I CALLED CINCINNATI BELL, THEY TOLD ME THE FAX CORD WAS CONNECTED TO A DEAD JACK. WHEN THE I.A.P. SERVICE TECHNICIAN CONNECTED THE FAX CORD, I TOLD HIM AT ONE TIME I HAD AN EXTRA PHONE LINE BY THE COMPUTER, BUT THE PHONE LINE HAD BEEN DISCONNECTED. THEREFORE, THE FAXING CAPABILITY WAS INSTALLED TO A DEAD JACK AND WAS NOT PROPERLY INSTALLED.
