Genesis Wholesale Kitchen & Bath

Purchased my house and knew from the signing that the kitchen would need the most work since it was the most neglected part of the house with a bad refrigerator, only a base 1950 era sink and no cabinets to work with.  Picked this contractor from internet since he had cabinets that were high quality and he was able to meet my needs for my kitchen since I'm no rehabber myself.  I didn't like the choices at Lowe's or Home Depot either.  Owner was a contractor and had access to a floor man to help me lay out new tile on the floor, a new sink with a plumber to do that work as well.  I paid for the gas/electric upgrades and the tile for the floor as well as redoing the walls since they were cracked vinyl coverings.  Was working with a seperate company to order all appliances, so sizes were not finalized at the time of the planning.  I was not sure if all of them would arrive prior to the cabinets arriving so did not pass this information on to him at the time.  Once payment was completed, cabinets were ordered and I believe it took 4-6 weeks since this was a custom job, not off the shelf stuff.  Installation took a good day for the cabinets, a second day for the counter top of granite to make sure all measurements were good and still had to grind down some of them around the stove since it was off by 1/4-1/2 inch I believe.  Plumber was day three since he could not come at the same time as the cabinet installer.  Owner kept up with the various parts of the project by email since he was in and out of the office on various jobs he had or I talked to his secretary.  Overall project looks great and many compliments from friends and family on the kitchen.

Tom B. was one of 5 contractor/designers that came to give us an
estimate on a total kitchen remodel.  We desperately wanted an island as
part of our remodel, but 4 of the designers took a look at our kitchen
and told us it was too small and couldn't be done.  Tom measured the kitchen and asked for
a day or two to mull it over. 
He came back to us within a few
days with a design that gave us a sizable island, and everything else we
wanted to boot, with plenty of space!  This required us to shift some appliances around, but no major reconstruction (in terms of tearing out walls or anything like that).
He gets an A+ for being creative and thoughtful and making it happen! 
The cabinets are also high quality and very beautiful.  The price was reasonable, too.

The main problem that I had with him is that he spent enough time taking measurements of the kitchen and the existing cabinets, but in spite of that he messed up the order, so when the cabinets came in some of them where bigger in size, some didn’t fit and they had to be resent for making. There was one cabinet over the fridge where he had to break the wall, though he had measured everything and then I had pay the contractor extra for him breaking the wall because he didn’t take the measurements properly. I initially liked his willingness, but I think he just does not know how to deal with his customers. I feel that all the faults and delays were on his side because he messed up the sizes and I paid him for all he had delivered, but at the end of it I still had one cabinet pending and a little bit of payment left to do and he started treating my husband say that there would be dire consequences if he didn’t pay. I think that he had very unprofessional behavior and then had the guts to come here and he picked a fight with my husband and had a lot of heated arguments around that. He just left me with a bad taste and he just did not hear and listen to what I wanted. I had told him that I wanted to keep a few feature of my old kitchen like the roll out draws and though I got some nice new feature with the new cabinets, I lost the old features like the roll of draws after he did his renovation. I was really very disappointed with his work and the cabinets. His price didn’t help me save a lot and I was left with a lot of bad feelings after going with him. He was very nice before I had signed the contract, but once that was done he was totally different and if he was in my business I would remove him from the list.

We found them on Angie's List. What stood out about them was the great design and great customer service.

Wonderfully.  Told time to expect cabinets and explained that he would have to build some items custom.

They did an excellent job. They were very professional. They cleaned up well and did their best to keep us from being annoyed by having workers in our house.

Our experience with Mr. Bove was an absolute nightmare. We did not trust him from the beginning and the only reason we ordered our cabinets through him was because we liked the design put together by the designer who was working with him at the time (she went to work elsewhere shortly after we received our cabinets). It would take a book to describe the entire horrific experience, so I will do my best to describe the key issues. After we paid for the correct number of trim pieces, he changed the order so that we would not have enough. He also changed the size of the cabinet that goes above the fridge because "he thought it would look nice to be the same height as the one above the microwave." This was discovered when our contractor installed all the cabinets and then found out that the fridge didn't fit because the cabinet above it was too big. When we brought these issues to Mr. Bove's attention, he offered to sell us the pieces we needed "at a great price." When we asked that he take care of it because it was his mistake, he accused us of changing our refrigerator after ordering our cabinets and insisted that we fax him proof that we had provided our appliance specifications prior to ordering our cabinets. We did fax proof, even though he could have looked in his file to find our appliance specs. He then avoided us for a few more days. We persisted and his next solution was to suggest that our contractor rehang ALL of the wall cabinets at a higher level in order to accommodate his mistake. He did not offer to compensate the contractor for all of this additional work and the contractor called him and explained why this wasn't a feasible solution. After avoiding us for several more days, he said he would take care of the cabinet IF we allowed him to come into our home and take pictures of our kitchen once complete. Since his behavior had been so erratic and he had used countless profanities and personal insults against us, we were not letting this man into our home. At this point we accepted that Mr. Bove was a truly dishonest, unethical individual who would not provide us with the correct pieces and we ordered them through another distributor at an additional cost of about $500. He made a large profit at our expense. Do not do business with this man or you will likely regret it.

Very poor experience overall. We took our time meeting with this company to discuss a new kitchen design and cabinetry. We then took time meeting with them at our house so they could take measurements to create a plan for our new kitchen. We were told to expect drawings in about a week. My husband contacted them a week and a half later and was told nothing had been done yet and we would hear back the following week. We haven't heard from the company since then. We were very disappointed in how the company wasted our time.

waiting until after the holiday to install the dishwasher and cabinet since holiday schedule was too close to do any work and my contractor was unable to fit me in to his work schedule.

He is very professional. The design was great and he came up with a very original design that utilized the space in the kitchen. The quality that we got for the price is amazing. We believe it is significantly less than if we used a bigger store like Lowe's. Definitely go to them to at least get a quote.

Tom ordered the cabinets, delivered on time, and made the job go smoothly.
