"Thanks so much {Member name removed}...it was a pleasure working for you! Im sorry the work took a little longer than expected, however, I believe there was a bad windstorm in between time with lots of emergencies. Look forward to serving you again! Nikki St Clair"
"Mr. [Member Name Removed]: I am very sorry that you had an unpleasant experience with my estimator. We have done many jobs for you over the years and I did not know there was a problem at all! The last job we completed was a new roof and gutters on your garage which totaled $2,358.00. That was on the written proposal/contract and that is what was invoiced and paid. You called afterwards having trouble with your main house chimney. My estimator needed assistance to access your roof since it is extremely high and steep. That is when he was informed that you had hired another company to perform the repairs. If there is a warranty stated on our contract, we will honor that! Not one time did you call me to discuss your concerns. We have not been in business for all these years by having unhappy customers like yourself. If there is anything I may do to rectify your concerns, feel free to contact me. Thank you, Nikki St Clair"
In early May, when I asked about getting a work permit, I was told none was required by the Village of Mariemont.
When I learned that a work permit IS necessary, I was told Gary St Clair would get one.
When I returned from being out of the country for seven weeks, I discovered the permit had NOT been obtained by Gary St Clair, and I had been been cited by the Village of Mariemont for failure to obtain the permit and would be fined $160.
When I protested to Gary St Clair, I was assured they had paid for the permit, their check had cleared, and the Village of Mariemont was to blame.
The Village denied that they had received payment.
I called Gary St Clair every day for more than a week to produce the allegedly cleared check, only to receive an answering machine message each time. No one replied.
To avoid further penalties from the Village, I paid the $160 fine myself.
Meanwhile I discovered that the $2,250 deposit I paid to Gary St Clair by VISA before work began in May, was charged to my VISA account a second time while I was out of the country. The second charge threw my VISA account into debit that resulted in penalty charges and interest. I immediately contacted VISA's fraud unit and had the second $2,250 charge reversed.
Gary St Clair said "so sorry, that happened once before because of our 'merchant' account'."
About ten days ago, Gary St Clair reimbursed me $140 for the work permit fine, but wrote the check to the wrong party. I had to write them yet another letter, remind them that the fine was $160, and return the check. Two days ago I received a $160 refund.
Day after tomorrow I'm summoned to Mariemont's Mayor's Court to face additional fines that resulted in part because of the Village's exasperation with St Clair's 90-day failure to obtain the original work permit (mid-May to mid-August).
The actual shingling was done by a crew of five(?) illegal(?) underfed, Mexicans(?) who did apparently competent work under the supervision of a Kentuckian(?) who sat in the cab of his pickup truck.
Cleanup was so-so.
A gate was left damaged, which I repaired myself.
It took St Clair three months to mail me a warranty from the shingle manufacturer.
I have waited until now (Aug 26, 2013) to write this review when I could be certained that I was repeatedly lied to about payment of the work permit.
Do not patronize this company.
