The problem I had occurred on Sept. 12. I tried to put the top up and it was stuck half way up in the air. I got out and looked at the top and two brackets one on each side were sticking our preventing the top from closing. These two brackets had holes at the end of them where screws were put in to hold the convertible top in place, these screws were missing. (This is important, because later the Fisher Griffin misled me and said none of the screws were missing.) The brackets had to be pushed back in so the top could be closed. I closed the top and when I got home examined the damage. There were 5 place that screws were used to hold down the top to the lift. Of those five place screws were missing from the first spot on the bracket, See Photos. The second spot on the bracket is where the bracket bent as this spot was fastened by screws. I noticed some of the other screws had no lock washers on them. I summarized that the lack of lock washers on these screws is what caused the eventual loosening of the screws, which led to the bending of the bracket and cause for the top not to be able to close. There appeared to be some minor damage to the top that could be easily fixed. I called Fisher Griffin and Whit Griffin told me to bring the car down and they could probably fix it on the spot. I went in to Fisher Griffin Thursday 9/15 in the morning and after about an hour I was told that the assembly piece used to raise and lower the top had snapped and that it was going to cost approximately $1500 to replace and it had to be done at a dealership. I asked if the brackets that were sticking out could have caused the problem and was told by the service man that they were not sticking out??? I was completely taken back and replied, "Yes, they were!!" and asked the service manager (Whit Fisher who is also an owner) who was standing there if he remember this bracket sticking out when I brought the vehicle in, he looked nervous and corrected the service man, saying that they were sticking out. I looked inside and saw that the service man had taken screws from further up the bracket and used them to replace the missing ones that were at the end of the bracket to hold down the top. I said, "I see you used the other screws in place of the missing ones to hold down the top." The service man replied, "There were no screws missing." This was an obvious lie and I pointed to the screw holes where previously there had been screws and now there were none. I said, "Then where did the screws go that were in these holes?" More nervous looks from the service man and the service manager. I told them, ?I do not like to be lied to.? At this statement the service manager Whit Fisher, said that, "Whether or not the screws were there or not, I guarantee that the brackets sticking out did not cause the pop metal to break." The pop metal breaking is what caused the $1500 worth of damage to the vehicle. My friend who was with me is an engineer for Proctor and Gamble disagreed with Whit Fisher saying, ?The combination of the two brackets on each said stuck into the lift would, be enough to break pop metal." I said, "I will be talking to the dealer and to the manufacturer about the possibility of this causing the problem." After that Whit said, "Normally, this would not cause the pop metal to break." I replied, "First you guarantee and now you say normally it shouldn't break it doesn't sound that you know for sure at all." Whit replied that it didn't matter he was not responsible for this and that he would not be paying for any of the repairs. I believe that I was intentionally misled by the Fisher Griffin and by the owner Whit Fisher to cover up their poor workmanship and sloppy attention to detail. These misleading false statements are as follows: 1. The brackets were not sticking out 2. No screws were missing 3. I guarantee that the brackets sticking out did not cause the assembly to break The truth is that Fisher Griffins poor workmanship in not using washers to insure that the screws would not loosen and fall out caused the damage to my vehicle. The lies to cover up these facts are a strong indication that Fisher Griffin knows this could be the problem and they are trying to hide their mistakes by being dishonest. My principle in doing business with people is that if you cannot trust them do not do business with them. So on that principle I would not recommend Fisher Griffin to anyone. Since this occurred I have taken the vehicle to other establishments and they recognized the poor workmanship and specifically the lack of a new fastener package (Set of Screws) for correct installation. The expert upholstery person told me that the various screws that were used were not factory authorized and caused the $1500 damage. A number of other short cuts and poor workmanship pieces were pointed out to me as well.

I picked up my car and as I was driving away, I noticed numerous and obvious dirty spots that should have been cleaned.    Upon further inspection, much of the car was still dirty.    I took it back and was told that I should have ordered a more thorough type of cleaning which I was not made aware of at the time (and I'm still not sure what that means since I had already paid $295.00 for detailing).
I took the car back and they cleaned it again but it wasn't any better than a standard car wash a person can get for less than $20.00  In fact, I could have done a much better job cleaning the car in an hour.
I did not want to take it back again because I felt uncomfortable when I was there the second time.
Response from Fisher-Griffin Co
"I really don't know how to respond to this since we don't offer Auto Detailing."

Owners are friendly and knowledgeable. Matched leather seats with vinyl to save money. Did a nice job. Located 5 minutes north of downtown Cincinnati on William Howard Taft Road. One way streets make it hard to get to.

WHIT FISHER WAS EXTREMELY PATIENT. HE ANSWERED ALL MY QUESTIONS IN AN EASY TO UNDERSTAND AND UNHURRIED MANNER. HE TOOK THE TIME TO UNDERSTAND THAT THE CAR MEANS A LOT TO ME AND DID A METICULOUS JOB. HE WAS AS PROUD OF HIS WORK AS I WAS PLEASED WITH IT. I WOULD DEFINITELY USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN.

EXCELLENT SERVICE. THEY AGREED TO INSTALL A TOP I ORDERED FROM THE INTERNET (SOME OTHER DEALERS INSISTED I BUY THE TOP FROM THEM, EVEN THOUGH I FOUND A DEAL ON THE INTERNET THAT WAS BELOW WHOLESALE). THEY APPARENTLY, INITIALLY, GAVE ME A VERBAL QUOTE THAT WAS LOWER THAN THEIR NORMAL LABOR CHARGE, AND THEN THEY HONORED THAT VERBAL QUOTE, WITH NO HASSLES, WHEN I POINTED OUT THE DISCREPANCY. I ENDED UP SAVING A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF MONEY, BECAUSE THEY WERE SO ACCOMMODATING. I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY FOR THEIR SERVICE ALONE -- AND THE CAR LOOKS GREAT.

I HAVE AN 1989 PONTIAC BONNEVILLE. THE AVAILABLE COLORS HAVE CHANGED OVER TIME. I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT GETTING A GOOD MATCH. THE GUYS AT FISHER-GRIFFIN SPENT A LOT OF TIME ANSWERING MY QUESTIONS AND EXPLAINING THEIR METHODS. THAT WAS IMPORTANT TO ME AS I WANTED THE BEST COLOR MATCH AND WORK POSSIBLE. AT THE MAJORITY OF THE CHEAPER SHOPS THE UNIVERSAL COMMENT WAS ''MOST PEOPLE JUST WANT THE HEADLINER FIXED, THEY AREN'T FUSSY ABOUT AN EXACT COLOR MATCH. WE'LL GET IT CLOSE BUT WE CAN'T GUARANTEE AN EXACT MATCH.''
