If I could give them zero stars, I would... absolutely horrible company. They subcontract out the work (our installers spoke no English and could not communicate with us at all!) so they can blame it on the installers, then won't call you back when you have an issue with your floor. My issue was one broken board, they refuse to send someone out to even look at it and have determined that we broke it. It's Lvp flooring, supposed to be durable... it's only 2.5 years old and looks worn and broken. DON'T USE THEM!! Unprofessional, use subpar contractors, and low quality product that won't hold up!

The sales person was ok, but after it the whole process was a nightmare. Decided to go with Empire because they said they can do the installation the same week or next week. However the installation was scheduled for the same week, but when they called me in the morning they said that the carpet wasn't on the truck....fast forward 3 installation scheduled with no carpet on the truck. And after I made so many calls, they figured it out that the carpet was out of stock, so they scheduled my installation 10 day after it. Well, the carpet was on the truck the 4 th installation, but the installers didn't feel like doing the work. They said they will go to Home Depot to buy glue, and never came back. The fifth installation the carpet was installed. They are disorganized unethical and completely misleading, I will never use Empire Today or refer to any of my friends.

Salesman "Rob" came to my home to provide an estimate. I was on "high alert" due to what turned out to be a high pressure sales pitch and the potential for a salesman coming to your home to take advantage of you. I made a few minor attempts at checking out Empire (like searching Angieslist). I wish I'd have looked at the BBB reports, sooner (TONS of complaints about them there).
Rob seemed very nice. He had an answer for everything. Even though the sale was supposed to be 50 % off everything, the price turned out to be slightly higher than what I would have paid for a top of the line carpet at Home Depot. I liked Rob and he seemed sincere and he was there and my time is valuable, so I negotiated the price a little with him and signed the paperwork. Rob insisted on giving me his contact information and encouraged me to recommend him, text him and call him if I needed or wanted to.
Appointment day came and everything went as predicted. The installer was good and close to on-time. The installers had another job to finish so they dropped one guy off at 10am and came back with the rest of the crew at about noon. It took them until 6pm to finish 1000 sq. ft. (one large room and a straight flight of stairs). There was a small area at the top of the steps where two doors converged (about 3ft x 3ft). The carpet I selected was too tall to go in here without requiring the doors to be cut down and they were both exterior doors, so the jambs would have to be raised as well. The installer suggested that I choose a different flooring for that area. He left for the day and insisted I sign the paperwork. He told me I would be "high priority" and someone would contact me on Monday (this was Saturday).
The installation occurred on 5/16. I had not heard from anyone by 5/27. I corresponded with Rob, the sales person about 5 times until I finally got a call from dispatch on 5/29. Rob was responsive but I was not getting the call-back that he was promising me after the first contact. Dispatch set me up with an appt for 6/6 to finish the work. I didn't hear from anyone on 6/6, so I called the 800 number (at around 10am) and the staff there were responsive. They confirmed that I had an appt scheduled for that day. I still had not heard from anyone by around 4pm, so I called the 800 number again. They were responsive again and this time, told me that all of the detail for my appt. was blank and no installer was assigned. They told me again that I would be considered a high priority resolution and "dispatch" would contact me on Monday. 
I gave them until Tuesday morning and then I contacted Rob, the salesman again. He stopped responding to my text messages. I called the 800 number and was setup with another appt. for Wed. evening. Wednesday evening came and went. Called the 800 number again and they set me up with an appt for Thursday evening. Crystal "guaranteed me" someone would show up this time. They did not. I setup an appt. for Saturday. No show. This time, when I called the 800 number, they connected me directly to the Dayton office (dispatch). Dispatch told me how busy they were and they couldn't fit me in until  Tuesday evening.  Finally, they showed Tuesday evening and finished the job.
Ultimately, the salesperson became unresponsive. I found TONS of negative reviews on the BBB regarding Empire. While they did finally resolve the issues to my satisfaction, it took 4 broken appointments to get there. The disconnect between the "customer service department", the sales person, and dispatch is HUGE. While everyone was pleasant and professional when spoken to, there have to be a ton of better options available.
Avoid Empire Today. There are other providers on Angies List that, I'm sure, are better options.

The installation team was excellent. They drove up in an unmarked van so I was a little leery but they were fantastic to work with. They did a really good job. They followed up with me after the installation to make sure I was satisfied with work.

While we were looking at the carpeting he didn't ask about our budget or
anything around that, he just broke out the good, better and best
carpets and proceeded to tell us how great the best carpet was. When I
told him our budget he literally acted as if he had a heart attack! Then
told us that we were about to get real and that his quote would be much
higher then our budget, but no one would come in lower with similar products. He never even thought to ask if we wanted to see less expensive carpet. I've since called other carpet providers and realized that our budget (based on materials and labor we saw at Lowes) wasn't out of range. Our entire house is 1600 sq feet, his quote was about 8.43 a sq foot. We could have all hardwood at that point.
This quote was also including their buy 1 room get 2 free. We will not use them now or ever and encourage everyone we know to not use them.

I called the company to ask questions and get some information. When I finally got thru to a person who was apparently an operator it seemed as if she had a scripted response to set up an appointment. When I attempted to ask questions it threw her for a loop. After this phone call I checked with the BBB and decided not to pursue this company.

The installation process was a nightmare.   With the exception of the lead installer the rest of the installation team was incompetent.  They were unprofessional and lacked the equipment necessary to do the job in the proper manner.  Over the five day installation process we encountered late arrivals, equipment malfunctions, early exits, numerous promises that were not kept, and damage in our kitchen as a result of the poor training of the crew.

First off, the sales agent who was coming out to give the "in home estimate" called and explained that he had been overbooked for that day and wasn't sure when he would get to us.  He ended up getting there on a schedule between 9am to 11am around 10:55am.  Then he was very pushy on the phone and demanded that we be ready to do business.  Once he showed up he began measuring the house for carpet installation.  The house needed carpeted, the entire downstairs and upstairs excluding bathrooms.  He got halfway through measuring and mentioned "Are you guys ready to do business, ready to sign the check when I get done measuring?" We mentioned to him "No we are not ready to sign any checks we were just interested in the free in home estimate so we know how much we need to spend to get it carpeted".  Upon hearing this the salesman let his tape measure slam shut, picked up his writing tablet and said "that's all I needed to know, no need in you all wasting my time" and proceeded to exit the house with a negative attitude.  He got in his car and left without saying anything else.  Needless to say we did not get our free in home estimate.  As a result I would not recommend them for any type of flooring installation because you don't get a quote they want to pressure you into purchasing their services immediately or they are not worried about bothering with you or your quote.

They are awful. They don't have set price on anything, you have to bid, which I did not like. The carpet was not good quality, and I feel like I'm walking on the floor, you can't feel the padding. I don't recommend them to anyone.

I got a discount of $600 because the of the huge delay in getting my order delivered, twice. They were apologetic. We were able to speak with someone who was able to track the order and he insured that it would come, the third time. They were able to get the carpet and it took the crew of three only 3 hours to remove the carpet and furniture and install the new carpet. They do not call you to verify the installation date or time.

We were getting quotes from 3 companies. We have not chosen one yet but it would not be this one due to cost. When I called it was answered from a central site in Chicago. The receptionist was very polite and set up the appointment with one of their local offices. The sales representative arrived on time and brought samples in with him to show. He took measurements, discussed some concerns and gave me a verbal quote - nothing in writing. He said when we decide he would come back out and write a contract. I asked if he would be present when it would be installed. He said no, that a different crew took care of that. He did give me a card with his local phone number and local office on it. However, when compared to another company that we have used previously for floor refinishing, the quote was much higher.

Was told by salesman entire operation would take no longer than 8 hours. Apparently hours were not consecutive, possibly because the installers only worked until noon each day for three days. The installers were unprepared, lacked certain materials, and complained about the job site. Apparently there was miscommunication between sales and operations FOR THREE DAYS. The end result is rather shabby looking. I chose this company because I wanted a fast and tidy flooring solution. They did not deliver. Recommend AVOIDANCE. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
