Have had Culligan System for nearly 30 years. Had a scheduled service call today and technician was to arrive between 1-3. At 3, they called and said they could not come today. Wanted to reschedule for tomorrow. We canceled and will be calling different company.

Be wary of the "water test" information they give to justify their systems and make sure to verify their results with your county water department. After the sales rep informed me of the hardness level of my water and contaminants I called my county water department. The department head told me the figures I was told by Culligan were nearly impossible. The county informed me that the raw water entering the treatment plant is not even that high.

We ended up not having the water softener installed by them, because the communication was with us was terrible, changing installation times, etc. Would recommend going with another company for a water softener.

Six months ago we moved into new house and were told there would be no installation charges to move our water purifier. Upon install they charged us $350 we asked the installer to follow up per our being told no cost. He said he would. We heard nothing, and I called the office, where a woman promised to look into it. Never heard from her either. Two months later we got the bill for $320. Beware, they charge for new installation without quoting a price.

I had the high efficient water softener with the Blue Blue sediment filter installed in my home around five months ago. I live in a rural area and use a well. We have a high natural concentration of iron in our water. With the new Culligan system, the quality of our water is much better than it was before. I'm also very impressed with the service. In particular, Scott has done a great job. He made a good recommendation, provided a good install, came out for service at my wife's request, and - most recently - Scott helped get my system up and running again with new filters after I had to replace my well water pump and tank. Thank you. I couldn't be happier with Culligan.

1.) A water softener was installed in my home by Culligan in 2010 as a rental. In 6 years no one ever came to my house or contacted me again. When a new softener was installed in November 2016, the new company asked when the last time the Culligan filter had been changed. I was surprised to hear that there was a filter that should have been changed at least annually although I had never been contacted by Culligan again and they had not serviced the unit since 2010. 2.) When the unit was rented in 2010, I had explicitly expressed a desire to purchase the unit through Culligan as I had done previously. I was told that Culligan did not offer that option. The unit had to be rented or paid in full. After 6 years of renting the unit and $74 monthly, I called Culligan and expressed an interest in purchasing a unit as it was not economical for me to continue renting. The office staff indicated that they have always had a purchase option available and they don’t know why I had been told otherwise. The office staff indicated that would have a sales rep contact me to provide a cost for a new unit and a buy-out cost of the unit I had since I had already paid on the unit several years. 3.) After several days, a sales rep still had not contacted me. I called the office again and indicated that I will need to go with a company other than Culligan if I could not get a call back. 4.) When I did receive a call from the sales rep, Todd Newton he indicated the cost of a new unit would be between $1700 and $3500. I told him that was a wide range and I wanted to know a cost based on the unit I currently had. He said he didn’t know what kind of unit I had. I asked him about the buy-out option and he said “The buy-out cost is $400”. I asked him how he could give me a buyout if he didn’t even know the unit I currently had. He said that after customers rent a unit for 2-3 years, Culligan just sells the unit at the buy-out cost of $400. I asked him if he could reduce the buy-out from $400 to $200 since I had been renting the unit for 6 years. He said No. Since I felt like he was a bit rude, condescending and uninterested in working with me, I requested the district manager call me. 5.) The Culligan district manager, Scott called me promptly. He indicated that it is not Culligan’s policy to allow customers to buy-out their units and the request was unusual. I believe I mentioned, that I didn’t even know this was an option but his office staff are the ones who told me about it. He asked me if he could see what he could see what he could work out and call me back. Unfortunately, I didn’t hear back from him. 6.) Based on my experience, when the district manager can’t even return a phone call, I cannot do business with Culligan nor can I recommend Culligan. The fact that a filter has not been changed for 6 years is really inconceivable.

We purchased the GOLD unit. First installer didn't get it right because he said the salesman had not correctly indicated the supply lines. Second guy (different guy) finished the install. Got water all over the floor - not the nicest plumbing job I've ever seen but functional. Fast forward to 22 mos after the initial installation and the circuit board dies. I call for service and tell the person who answered the call that the display was out and we believed the circuit board had failed. Maintenance comes on Friday, confirms that the circuit board requires replacement. But, he doesn't have one with him. Next guy comes on Tuesday and installs the new board. Got the bill today. Circuit board was under warranty. I was charged labor for both visits (second visit was only necessary because the first guy didn't have the board with him). Labor just under $80. I was charged a paper processing fee ($2) and a service fee ($10) as well as OH sales tax (expected I guess) and some Clermont county tax (I don't live in Clermont county). I didn't say anything after two visits for the installation. I didn't say anything after the two visits for a simple circuit board replacement. But, the two labor charges, the bogus $12 in "fees" and the quality of the unit overall have made me an unhappy camper. If I sold someone a "GOLD" unit for just under $3K that didn't make it two years, I'd be a little embarrassed. Cost of service $2770 for unit + $98 to keep it operating less than two years after installation.

Install went well. Had a small problem with the filter system due to a cartridge not being completely seated. They had a tech out the next day and resolve the issue, added new line for the refrigerator.

We were very much impressed with the professionalism of their service. We felt the price was competitive with other providers. We felt that the other provider was kind of trying to push more expensive service than we actually needed or wanted and what we ended up getting was exactly what we wanted. They were very pleasant. I would recommend them because we had such good service from them and because we have been happy with the way it is worked ever since.

Scott came out to discuss putting in a water softener and water filtration system.  We decided to use these systems and they were installed within a week of our ordering.  Doug spent 3+ hours installing both appliances and did a wonderful job.  When he was finished, he went over the operating instructions and made sure we understood them.  He also cleaned up very well and left the room nice and tidy!

Met with a representative at my home. Very low key informative conversation.  Although he said that I could wait a couple of years before replacing the softener, I decided to replace it with a new one.  The installation went well with no problems.  Tech also seviced  my drinking water system and replaced the filters for me.  Fine job.

If you purchase a water softner from this company you are locked in, and they know it, because you have to buy the filters and replacement parts from them. This is absolutely the worst service oriented company that I have ever dealt with. Because you are locked in their attitude seems to be that if you want service it will be on their terms or not at all. I called for an appointment on 1/14/2012 because the air had leaked out of the reverse osmosis tank. The appointment was scheduled for 1/18 and they will not tell you if it will be morning or afternoon so you have to keep the entire day open. The morning of 1/18 they called and the appointment was for 4-5 pm. No one showed or called by 5:00 pm so I called the office because I had told them I had to leave by 5:20 pm. The woman I spoke with offered no assistance or explanation as to why they did not show. This is typical. On another occasion a rubber washer was leaking. Their technician came out and replaced the washer and charged me $215 (diagnostic $129, labor$77 and parts $9). This washer could not have cost over twenty five cents and it took about fifteen minutes to replace it. On still another occasion they replaced the filters and they started leaking immediately. I called the office and the woman told me they could not come out for at least a week and I should just shut the system down. Fortunately I had paid by check so I put a stop payment on the check which got their attention. This company could care less about their customers and I am considering shutting my system down rather than deal with these arrogant people. I would sooner drink dirty water then continue this relationship.

"Thank you for taking the time to write a review of the services our company provided for you. Although I was not employed with Culligan of Greater Cincinnati at the time of your service I do want you to know that your business is very important to us. I have been the General Manager of this store for the past year and have over 28 years of experience with Culligan treating water problems in both residential and commercial applications. Although you state Culligan locks you in to having to purchase replacement filters directly from us, that is not the case. It is recommended that Culligan replace the filters of your drinking water system periodically, it is also recommended that the drinking water system is sanitized on an annual basis to insure premium water quality. Although you may purchase replacement filters from other sources, the sanitization and overall cleanliness when performing this service work is critical. On all service calls, human error can occur, and I will apologize in advance for that. We do offer a 30 day guarantee on all service work performed and if the unit(s) are not working to your satisfaction we would like to and it would be our pleasure to revisit and determine the cause of the dissatisfaction. If you will contact me directly at 513-793-6640 I will do my best to your satisfaction with your Culligan Water Treatment Equipment. Sincerely, Russell R. Vermillion General Manager"

A washer was leaking on my water softner so I called for service. They were very prompt but the price was exorbitant for the work done. I was charged $215 for 15 minutes work to replace a ten cent washer. There was a diagnostics charge of $129 - the service man could see the washer was leaking. I showed him the washer was leaking. There was a $77 charge for labor which comes out to about $308 an hour for labor. There was a $9 charge for two washers - I suggested both be replaced. These are rubber washers that most certainly cost less than a dollar. The problem with Culligan is once you purchase their unit they know they have you over a barrel.

Each year we call them in May to remind them that they were to perform an annual check up. Then and only then, they respond. I imagine that their competitors are more willing to perform the services needed without reminders. In addition I discover that only Culligan has the filters that fit their system. All of the others use industry standard filters which are not compatible. This locks in Cullligan unless one is willing to replace the 'guts' of the system, a much more expensive solution than merely changing a filter.

We've been using Culligan for bottled water for several years. I sourced water from several different venders and was happy to find that Culligan gets their spring water from here in Ohio (near Lancaster). I like knowing that it doesn't come from thousands of miles away burning up unnecessary fossil fuels along the way. Granted nothing is as enviro friendly as the tap...but we are talking about bottled water here. Anyway, overall I've been pleased with the service.

The installation was terrible and I had to fight with them to get it to my standards. He guaranteed things and didn't follow through. This was a bad experience and I would not recommend this company.

"WE ARE SORRY THAT THE MEMBER FEELS LIKE HE WAS NOT PROVIDED A SERVICE THAT WAS UP TO STANDARD. WE DO NOT HAVE ANY INFORMATION IN OUR FILES REGARDING THE INSTALLATION OF THE WATER SOFTENER BEING A PROBLEM. WE DID HAVE AN ISSUE WITH A MISCOMMUNICATED PROGRAM AND FOLLOW UP BY OUR SALES PERSON BUT, ACCORDING TO OUR RECORDS, IT WAS RESOLVED AND THE CUSTOMER WAS WELL TAKEN CARE OF."

They were detailed, on time and installed what I thought was some pretty complicated things in a professional and efficient manner. Not only that they even came back after I had a little bit of a leak at the top of the canister. Not only that they were right their product not only looks good in my basement but, it also performs efficiently and the best part is I don't have to do anything and the water is so much cleaner and tastes great!
