Conklin Cleaning Service

Pathetic. The work on our house was major, inside and outside. Everything from the 2nd floor had to be moved to the 1st floor, so for 7 months we were unable to clean anything on either floor. We couldn't get to the furniture to dust it, we didn't have any floor space unoccupied, and therefore could not clean the floors. There was an unfortunate roof problem which was not detected until it rained all night, so most of the 2nd floor windows were filled with water, ruining the windows, window frames, flooring, and anything near the windows. When the Conklins came to clean (husband and wife), he was quite rude. My husband and I are in our 70's, 1 of us has been treated for cancer and had surgery, the other has major lung problems, and we asked the Conklins to wear a mask, but were told he did not believe in them. Our contractor's crew chief for our job specified what needed to be done beyond a normal house-cleaning, and that included steam cleaning the carpet on our stairway, washing the windows at the front of our house front, back and in between, and giving all the bathrooms a thorough scrubbing. They did none of this. When they left, there wasn't a single window sill or corner of any room on any floor that wasn't covered in dead bugs (cicadas, flies, etc.) because during the course of all the work, many doors were left open for extended periods of time. Also, we agreed to allow up to 26 workmen use our bathroom facilities because there wasn't enough room between our house and the next-door neighbor to get the service truck into our back yard to clean a port-a-potty. We had carpenters, flooring installers, electricians, painters, stone-masons, assistants, heating and air conditioning contractors, roofers, chimney guys, assistants, finishers, and all had been told which bathroom they were to use, but that didn't matter to some of them - they used whichever bathroom was closest. The Conklins didn't even wipe out a sink, let alone clean the floors or a toilet. They did zero cleaning. We still have spider webs in every corner of every room. The entire house has never gone this long without being cleaned and it's disgusting. I took pictures and showed them to our contractor, but am sure the Conklins were paid anyway, which is very upsetting. The truly cleaned nothing, and left without telling me they were leaving. I changed my entire schedule that day to be here when they were scheduled to come (it was changed twice before they actually came). We are just unbelievably unsatisfied with the Conklins. Pathetic is the only description that can be applied to their "cleaning."
