He went ahead and took measurements of our basement and we tentatively put down time for him to come back a week later but I canceled the follow-up appointment after reading the other reports on Angie's List. I have never heard of a "sales policy" like this and it strikes me as very sexist and shady, so I will not be proceeding with this vendor.

We asked Owens Corning to come out to give us an estimate to finish our basement. Their product seemed good, but the salesman used a very high pressure sales pitch and wouldn't leave our house. He spent about 4 hours in our house, yet he never calculated a cost or any specific numbers. Worse, he said he had to come back to complete his cost calculations. He did. His price was OK, but he said we had to join Sam's Club and allow tours of our house to get the price from 48,000 down to 32,000. I was quietly insulted by the patronizing used car salesmen tone delivered to me by an unsophisticated presumptuous young man who thought he could wedge himself into our good graces by complimenting us on our house, playing our piano, and telling us about his life. What a pain. Don't bother with this company, they seem to be too slick and undignified.

My advice would to be to never allow a salesman into your house from this company unless you like being harassed and put down for not overpaying and signing up without the opportunity to shop around. I can finish my basement three times over exactly how I want it the traditional way versus their way. The quote of $31000 didn't even include carpet, the half bath that we want, or a bar.

After I pushed the Owens Corning guys out the door, I researched the system on the Internet. Apparently the high-pressure multi-hour sales pitch is standard, as is the widely negotiable price. After reading through information about Owens Corning's basement systems online, I know I will NOT have them in to finish my basement.

Very poor overall. They gave me the 'buy this time share speech' feeling. I was very creeped out by the whole conversation. Very unprofessional and pushy.

WORKERS ARRIVED ON TIME, STAYED UNTIL THE JOB WAS FINISHED AND EVEN MANAGED TO COMPLETE THE JOB AHEAD OF SCHEDULE. WAS NOT IMPRESSED WITH THE SALESMAN WHO MADE SEVERAL PROMISES BUT DIDN'T FOLLOW THROUGH ON THESE PROMISES. ALSO, THERE WAS A LACK IN COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE ON SITE WORKERS AND THE JOB FOREMAN. INFORMATION WAS CHANGED AND THE WORKERS WERE NOT INFORMED OF THESE CHANGES WHICH RESULTED IN THEM NEEDING TO REDO SOME OF THE WORK THAT THEY COMPLETED.

COMPANY CALLED TO CONFIRM APPOINTMENT ON OCTOBER THE 6TH. I ARGUED WITH THE COMPANY FOR AT LEAST 5 MINUTES TELLING THEM MY WIFE AND I HAD DIFFERENT SCHEDULES AND WE BOTH WOULD NOT BE THERE. THE COMPANY NEVER SHOWED FOR THE ESTIMATE AND I NEVER RECEIVED A CALL . I TOOK THE TIME TO CLEAN AND PREP THE BASEMENT AND THEY COULD HAVE LEAST CALLED ME.
