First, their scheduling process is not at all consumer friendly. When you call, they can only schedule the day they will send someone and do not call until that morning to give you a time range that day. So, regardless, it takes an entire day off of work. To date: Trip 1: looked at oven and determined that I was right, it needed new hinges. They would order them, called me when they got in and schedule a second visit. Trip 2: installed new hinges. That worked for a while and then the entire door fell off the oven. Trip 3: reinstalled the same hinges. That worked for an even shorter period of time and the door fell off again. Trip 4: determined that the hinges must not be the right ones. This time, they will order directly from the manufacturer, called me when they get in and schedule yet another trip. Trip 5: scheduled for today, canceled this morning when they realized that only one of the hinges had come in but they think they can come back on Friday.
Description of Work: The original problem was an oven door that would not stay fully closed (would open just enough that the interior light came on). It required the door hinges to be replaced. Unfortunately, the original repair has caused a bigger problem (e.g. the door has now fallen off entirely, twice) and after 5 service calls it is still not fixed.

This is a follow-up to my earlier report on this company in which I gave it an "F" because the service technician damaged my refrigerator in the course of inspecting it. Using a different technician, the company fixed the original problem (at my cost) and replaced the door its other technician damaged (at its cost). Both were done promptly and well.

Maytag had a recall of certain dishwashers with potential fire hazards. Maytag sent the parts and a list of authorized servicers. We used Angie's list to verify the servicer we selected (Central Repair Service) was o.k. There were no problems with the installation of the replacement parts. There was no charge as the work was part of a recall program.
Description of Work: Replaced dishwasher parts (interior of door and wiring harness) that were part of Maytag recall program.

THE COMPANY IS USED BY RECKER & BORGER AS THE REP'S FOR THE SERVICE SIDE. THEY CAME OUT THE 1ST TIME ON 01/19/2007, THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO BE HERE BY 12, BUT GOT HERE AT 1230.( WAS SUPPOSED TO BE HERE 3 TO 6) THE SERVICE MAN HAD A SERIOUS REACTION TO MY CATS AND HAD TO RESCHEDULE FOR 1/22. BETWEEN 8 - 12. THEY CALLED AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD BE HERE BETWEEN 12 AND 3. NOT WHAT WAS AGREED UPON. I CALLED. AND SPOKE WITH RENEE AT THE CALL CENTER AND SHE WAS SURPRISED AS WELL. THE 1ST CALL WAS GOING TO BE THE CAT ALLERGY REP AGAIN SO HE SWITCHED WITH SOMEONE AND EVEN THOUGH IT WAS NOTED FOR THE EARLY SERVICE CALL, HE DIDN'T FOLLOW THRU AND SWITCHED IT TO 12 TO 3 IN THE AFTERNOON. THE SERVICE CALL WAS MADE BETWEEN 12:30-1:00. AT WHICH POINT THE TECHNICIAN INSTALLED A BOOT (RUBBER SEAL INSIDE OPENING OF WASHING MACHINE.)

Very positive! The crew of two were absolutely on time, polite as they could be, and as professionally behaved as anyone could ask! Since this job was under warranty, I wasn't charged a penny!
Description of Work: My laundry center is less than a month old but even so, the staff at Central Repair quickly and politely set me up for a check, and if necessary a repair. Turns out the machine was fine it's just one of the quirky new features (what a relief!)

This company is very busy & very businesslike. The unit was taken in for warranty work & was ready within the promised time frame. There have been no problems with dehumidifier since the repair work was completed.
Description of Work: They did warranty work on a malfunctioning dehumidifier. The coils were freezing up, but the fan continued to run.

THERE WON'T BE A CHARGE FOR THE SECOND VISIT TO REPLACE THE FAN BLADE.
Description of Work: OUR REFRIGERATOR STOPPED COOLING. THE TECHNICIAN TOOK THE BACK PANEL OF THE FREEZER COMPARTMENT OUT AND FOUND A FAN BLADE THAT HAD FALLEN OFF. HE PUT IT BACK ON AS A TEMPORARY FIX AND IS ORDERING A NEW ONE TO REPLACE IT.

THEY DIDN'T REPLACE THE FILTER IN THE WINDOW UNIT. WHEN I CALLED THE COMPANY AND THE LADY WHO ANSWERED THE PHONE SAID "THEY SOLD THEM TO THE CUSTOMER BEFORE THEY GOT TO MY HOUSE". MY IMPRESSION IS THAT THEY HAVE THE ATTITUDE OF THEY DO THINGS HOW THEY WANT AND NOT THE NEEDS OF THE CUSTOMER. THEY HAVE NO CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS WHAT SO EVER.. THEY ARE NOT FLEXIBLE WITH THERE TIME FOR APPOINTMENTS. I HAVE USED THEM FOR MANY YEARS AND THEY HAVE GOTTEN WORST OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS. WHEN THEY DO THE WORK THEY DON'T LET YOU KNOW WHAT THEY HAVEN DONE. THEY JUST DROP IT OFF. THE PRICE WENT BY MORE THAN 1/3 OF THE NORMAL PRICE. THEY ACTED LIKE THEY WERE DOING ME A FAVOR.
