They came to the door 1st day and refused to take off their shoes and didn't have shoe booties with them.  I thankfully had shoe booties for this reason.  I think professionals should have shoe booties so customers will have a clean home when they leave.  But anyway, I allowed him in my home to diagnose my broken handle that I told him about on the 1st phone contact.  I spent almost $230 for the handle and service fee on this 1st 5 min. trip.  I was contacted by a computer stating that my part was in and my appointment was scheduled next day which was on a Tuesday.  I am off on Mondays and so I forced to call them back immediately to change this appointment to the following Monday since I was off that day.
Well the day of the appointment came and they called me towards the end of the appointment time to cancel since the wrong part was ordered.  I then rescheduled the appointment on the 29th which again was another Monday.  They thankfully called me earlier this time to cancel again!  The tech called in sick that day so he was not available.  The gentlemen said that he didn't have anyone available for me.  I told him it has been several weeks waiting on this to be taken care of.  We hung up and I talked it over with my husband and we agreed that we didn't want them back since they were rude on the 1st appointment and this was such trouble to get them over here to replace a simple handle.  The service guy called me back and I told him I didn't want them back as I was not comfortable with them.  He is only refunding me difference from the service fee.  To me if you have problems with the company they usually discount their service and try to work out something.  Not these people.
On the day my handle broke I was deciding on either a new dishwasher, as there were several sales going on for the 4th of July, or just fixing what I had.  Bad decision.  I should have had the dishwasher replaced.  I was trying to save money by just fixing what I had.  Expensive lesson learned.  I have been an Angie's list member for a couple of years and have never found anyone on this list that was worth the money I have paid for their service.  The only benefit that I have found for this was the discounts that are emailed to you.  I do not recommend either Central Repair or Angie's list.

"[removed member name] scheduled call on 7/7 online at our website, we responded with a reply e mail stating service call of $79.95 and that we would be out 7/8 between 9-11, we arrived 7/8 at 10:50 am. I do apologize for the technician not having booties. I agree with you on this 100% . We run service calls with our trucks stocked with the most common parts to take of many needs. We do not order any parts for customers before diagnosing because if we do order part and come out with the part, several times the part is not needed and of course the customer does not need or want the part. [removed member name]agreed to having the repair finished with a door latch #w10275768 at $45.99 and labor of $79.65 to install upon return. She did pay the total, thank you. The part arrived 7/15, we called [removed member name] to schedule for the next day of 7/16, she did decline and requested 7/29. We scheduled her for 7/22 between 8-11 am. The part sent was incorrect for which we were at error and apologize for. After procuring the correct handle we did re-schedule for 7/29. The technician did call off ill that day, we called customer to advise to see about coming out 7/30. Understandable custer was upset. I told her we would find another technician that would run the call that morning. I called back 15 minutes later to let her know that we did indeed have somene that would be over that morning. Customer understandably declined and we did refund all but the service call fee. In retrospect I agree that we should refund the service call fee. I will refund this amount and hope that it goes toward restoring a little confidence in Central Repair Service. We are an ethical and honest servicer and I do believe she is correct. I will contact her week of 8/5 to confrim this. Michael Parr Central Repair Service Batavia, Ohio 45103 513 943 0500"

It took four visits, and then they only came out because I filed a complaint with the BBB cincinnati. All they had to do was replace the ice maker.

The issue here is related to an extended warranty program from an appliance manufacturer. The service performed was covered by the extended service contract, but Central Repair was unwilling to complete the work for what the warranty would pay and I was made to feel like that was my fault. The biggest issue was that I was not told of this until the work had been completed. So while I understand businesses need to make money, it seems that if the warranty company will not pay enough to have the service completed, then they should not be in the business of agreeing their work. Regardless in any case the customer should be informed that additional charges, which they cannot specify until they have completed the job, could apply. The worst was really the attitude I got in a voice mail back from management, where again, i was made to feel like I should be happy to have the work completed, and sorry about your luck on the expense. Just overall a bad experience.

Terrific service provider.  They fixed a problem with a dishwasher leak in less than 30 minutes that  another appliance repair company could not fix at all.  Incredibly professional and helpful.

Washer took several months to repair. Part was back ordered, then when part arrived another part had to be ordered. I was not given a specific time frame for repair.

I contacted this co as they were listed as approved service technicians on the Thermidor website, & I had a faulty Thermidor oven. They asked me for the make & serial #, which I read off to them from a note made by my husband. They told me the numbers seemed to be incorrect, so I checked them myself & called back to provide a slightly amended version. On this occasion they weren't interested in taking down the numbers & proposed sending out a service technician. What they DIDN'T tell me that they were going to charge me $95 for the visit, which consisted of the service technician taking down the model & serial # himself! He promised they would call me back the same day or the following morning about repairing the oven, but they didn't. When I called back myself, they told me offhandedly that the parts were no longer available & that I would have to call the co that installed the oven. Since the oven had been installed by a previous owner, this was of no help to me. When I complained about paying them $95 for nothing, they became aggressive & hostile & told me that they HAD informed me of the $95 charge. Then - after putting me on hold for approximately 10 minutes -they connected me with a manager who gave me a telling off for my nerve in complaining about their "service" , interrupted me every time I tried to respond & asked me how I could possibly assume that they would come out without charging me. He concluded by yelling, "You're not getting your money back!" I then looked this company up on the internet and discovered they had multiple negative reviews on consumer websites.
Response from Central Service Inc
"Customer called 10/21/10 2:59 pm stating she had an older Thermador double wall oven in need of repair. We expressed to her at that time that parts may not be available, however with the model and serial number she provided at this time our parts dept. took a look and could not bring the unit up on BSH parts website. We advised the customer that model and/or serial number may be incorrect. She stated at this time that it was difficult to read and expressed interest in having someone visit her residence to assist and diagnose the unit. We at this time informed the customer that we had a service call/diagnosis fee of $89.95 plus tax due at time of visit. Customer again expressed interest and scheduled a service call from us for 10/25/10. Upon our technicians arrival he spent 28 minutes gathering proper model and serial number (8:58 to 9:26 am) and diagnosing unit as being in need of upper oven control and lower oven control. Our parts department researched the availability of parts on 10/25 and found that parts were no longer available, spoke with customer on 10/25 at 2:34 pm at which time customer was informed that the parts are no longer available from Thermador for repair of the unit. We service 21,000 families each year and have a B rating on Angies List and an A- rating on Cincinnati BBB. We pride ourselves in all aspects of our service and do all we can to maintain a good working relationship with our customers, as we know they are our future."

Their service was excellent and he was punctual and happy to help. We even had a great conversation - he was very friendly and even knocked very softly on our door to make sure he didn't wake up our 2 year old, who had been asleep the first time he came out. I really appreciated his thoughtful manner and professionalism. He also gave us some good background information on our refridgerator and answered all of our questions very thoroughly. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to someone else.

I originally scheduled the service through Lowes and Central Repair Service. The service call was scheduled for an 8-12 window (one week later). At 7:30am, I received a call from the technician that was scheduled, informing me that he would arrive between 10- 1:30pm. I had scheduled my appointments for after 1:30pm, and this was not a good window for me. I informed the technician that I had a 1:40pm appointment, and that I was told he would be here before noon, but he said he had a busy morning and could make no promises. I called CRS and spoke with a service scheduler. After some discussion, she arranged for a different service rep to service my dryer by noon. The service rep that responded was prompt, professional, courteous and tidied up upon departure. I mentioned to CRS that I would provide feedback to Angies List upon completion of the work performed. I believe I did receive a better level of service from the service scheduler and perhaps the company from mentioning this face ... but I feel the level of professionalism of the service technician was not influenced by this, and he was very good.

Although I am not happy with my refrigerator, Central Repair Service appears to be first rate. He pulled the lint from the coil on the back and checked the airflow, which he didn't have do.

I was very satisfied with their service. The person that came out to work was good, and I was very happy. They were very very professional. They did 2 things at once, and I saved some money. He put in sunny shoes before he came in the house. He cleaned up after himself, and I have had no problems with him at all.

The man came out and diagnosed the problem. The fan wasn't working properly. And also both the freezer door and refrigerator doors weren't closing properly. He fixed the fan problem and the one door problem right away. He had to order a hinge for the other door and came back about a week later to fix that. Everything seems to be working fine now. I am happy with the experience.

On the refrigerator they did come out after 10 days to install the compressor, they said there was nothing they could have done about that. The washing machine they ended up not offering to do anything about, other than charging for another service call and for another part I needed. The washer needed repair after 5 years, but they knew I use them for everything else and they still did not offer to waive any fees. Mediocrity or not pleasing the customer seems to be their forte'. They did honor the warranty on the refrigerator, so nothing was paid for out of my pocket. The amt. spent was for the washer service.

We returned home from vacation on a Sunday to discover that the refrigerator portion of our less than 2 year old Kitchen Aid refrigerator had stopped working while we were gone and everything was spoiled. On Monday morning I phoned several Kitchen Aid authorized repair services and Central Repair Service was able to send a technician the following morning. Phil immediately diagnosed the problem, replaced the fan motor and we were back up and running. He was very professional and efficient.

First, their scheduling process is not at all consumer friendly. When you call, they can only schedule the day they will send someone and do not call until that morning to give you a time range that day. So, regardless, it takes an entire day off of work. To date: Trip 1: looked at oven and determined that I was right, it needed new hinges. They would order them, called me when they got in and schedule a second visit. Trip 2: installed new hinges. That worked for a while and then the entire door fell off the oven. Trip 3: reinstalled the same hinges. That worked for an even shorter period of time and the door fell off again. Trip 4: determined that the hinges must not be the right ones. This time, they will order directly from the manufacturer, called me when they get in and schedule yet another trip. Trip 5: scheduled for today, canceled this morning when they realized that only one of the hinges had come in but they think they can come back on Friday.

This is a follow-up to my earlier report on this company in which I gave it an "F" because the service technician damaged my refrigerator in the course of inspecting it. Using a different technician, the company fixed the original problem (at my cost) and replaced the door its other technician damaged (at its cost). Both were done promptly and well.

Maytag had a recall of certain dishwashers with potential fire hazards. Maytag sent the parts and a list of authorized servicers. We used Angie's list to verify the servicer we selected (Central Repair Service) was o.k. There were no problems with the installation of the replacement parts. There was no charge as the work was part of a recall program.

Very positive! The crew of two were absolutely on time, polite as they could be, and as professionally behaved as anyone could ask! Since this job was under warranty, I wasn't charged a penny!
