Awesome job!! Great attention was made to detail. I have senior dogs with mobility issues and vision issues and accommodation was made for adjusting step sized and design for their safety and comfort. The job was done in a very timely manner. The crew was very professional and friendly.

Response was quick, the appointment was made, and James came out to do an inspection. The following week he pressure washed the surface and on the next dry day, he spread the sealant that I purchased. We are happy with the results.

The deck project went well and was finished on time. It rained quite a bit so every hour they could be on site working, they were, including the entire final weekend. We ended up getting upgraded composite decking due to glitch at hardware store (at no cost to us). Also, due to brand of composite, they had a paint that matched to paint the supports. Left us almost a full gallon as well after they were done painting. Contractors were very considerate and worked to explain the project as it proceeded and answered any and all questions I had at any time.

They did an absolutely fabulous job pressure washing and restaining my 20' x 12' deck, including all the slats in the rails and the stairs leading to the backyard. They were very thorough and professional. I would definitely use them again when I need my deck restained in years to come. Great job!

IT DID NOT GO WELL. I WOULD NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. Their communication is terrible and they never did the work I paid them to do. Initially I was told they would contact me, they did not. I contacted them. They blamed me for not having an up to date profile. When I checked and found that my profile was up to date they blamed Angie's List for not providing the information. They eventually came out and said they could do the work. They were supposed to give me a quote for some additional work and contact me to schedule a time to do the work I purchased. They did neither. I contacted them again and they said they would get back to me. They never did.

Somehow after you calling me I did reach out to Angie's List to check to see if you bought coupon and get all information pertaining. Somehow it was overlooked on my part and I do apologize. Did a good job. But be clear about what you want done. I would think that the underside of your deck if it's a walkout would be included in "paint the deck". Apparently not. Painting the underside was an additional cost.

However it is all ladder work, power washing and staining. way more difficult then doing floors and rails. Can not expect everything for $200 for 225 sqft of deck. Jared is a very professional contractor and his team is kind, friendly, and very knowledgeable about construction and follow the most up to date building practices. I had a deck in very unsafe conditions and it was quite small and therefore I was looking to get a bigger deck built in place while also following the latest local and county codes. Throughout the initial walk through Jared offered us a variety of options regarding dimensions, stairs location, decking, and railing materials while also providing an insight of code requirements. I hired them and they started working 1 – 2 days ahead of the scheduled time. Throughout the demolition of the old deck and construction of the new one we rarely heard them working as they found a timing to work while we were out of the house and the area was always left clean and free of debris by the time we were back home and I build things myself and can assure they use the best building practices. The project had a short delay due to a builder’s medical condition that I humanly understood as health should always be a priority plus they kept me updated every day. Once the project was called completed I had few observations that I wanted to get addressed and Jared (the person you should contact for any matter) showed exceptional customer care skills when he personally came to my house to address my observations and as a result we have a deck that is aesthetically and structurally sound. Furthermore, the deck meets or exceeds national, state, county, and local building codes. Building character used more materials than the originally quoted at no extra charge in order to meet some extra local code requirements not taken into consideration at the time of the quote. If Jared offers you a job for a cost he will stick to that price regardless of any extra spending he could incur in. I could definitely hire them again if there is an opportunity of another project as I am certain that Building Character uses the best building practices, meet or exceed building codes all required codes, and build a structure meant to last for many years, with an stunning aesthetic look. In addition, Jared won't stop working unless I am 100% satisfied.

Jared showed up on time, reviewed the services needed left to get supplies (replacement boards). He returned with Josh who ended up replacing 4 boards over 2 hrs. Both Jared & Josh immediately got to work until finished.

Jared came & gave me the estimate. I picked out the color of quality sealer they started that day & finished the sanding. 2 days wait for the rain to stop - then the sealer was put on. It looks great.
