While buiding the deck, Brian hit an underground water line. It cost me $600 to have it repaired. Both Brian and I were there when the excavator repaired the water line. I asked Brian to take note of its location and even mark it off with flags. Brian assured me that he'd be careful and would hand dig. He ended up using a power auger and hit the water line again. This happened while I was out of town, so we spoke via text messages about how it would be fixed and who was responsible for the bill. Brian did not take any responsibility at first and told me straight forward that he didn't see how it was his fault. He eventually agreed to pay the bill and told me he would pay the excavator directly. The excavator repaired the water line, which cost $388. Brian gave me a bill for his services, so I paid it under the impression that he had set up an agreement with the excavator to pay the bill for the water line repair himself. Unfortunately, this was not the case. The excavator has not been paid and is coming to me to pay for the repait. Brian did not finish building the deck. He's also failed to pay the bill. The unfinished deck is an eye sore and a safety hazard. Some of the materials, which he agreed to pick up, are still at the lumber yard. I've tried numerous times to contact Brian to finish the project, but I haven't been in contact with him since.
Description of Work: Early spring, I purchased all the materials to build a deck. It cost me $15,000. Based on his good work performed for me in the past, I contacted Brian to build the deck. He agreed. However, he didn't start project until October. He'd promise to come out sooner but never showed up.
