Extremely professional and very skilled in his field. Very thorough with entire job. Polite and personable. We have used them on a variety of occasions for our condo rental units and for our own home. We will not call anyone else.

In my many years of building renovations, Bertke is one of the least ethical companies that I have ever encountered.  I believe that the company fraudulently performed work that was not necessary in order to increase their bill, and they potentially committed a host of other extremely unethical and unprofessional offenses.  Their electrician even confided to me that Bertke's sales person told the electrician to do much of the unnecessary work.  Lastly, when I declined to pay their horrible and unexpected bill, they filed a lien on my property and filed a lawsuit - then their lawyer was apparently suspended by the Ohio Bar during the lawsuit.  I am shocked by all the positive reviews on this site.  I would not recommend this company for any work whatsoever.

We joined Bertke's annual club for all of our service.

Had Bertke representative, Bobby, come out to review current electrical service in our home.  Had concern going in since we had a Federal Pacific electrical panel, which I have read is a potential fire hazard.  Representative did a thorough review of current situation and answered all my questions.  Note:  I already had one quote from another company so I was well prepared to asks lots of questions.  Representative answered all my questions and was extremely helpful in my deciding what services to have done.  Based on: other recommendations, price and overall impressions with Bertke we signed up to have the work done.

Same person who came out and provided estimate came back to do the work.  I always prefer this arrangement.  It works great for all parties.  He came out on time with all the equipment and parts to do the job.  Although, he did have to briefly step out to deal with another persons inspection, but that was not a problem.  Also, with replacing the main panel that meant the power was going to be off for a while.  Bobby tried to minimize the time the power was out and checked with me before actually turning it off, to give me one last chance for anything electrical I needed.

All work was completed in a timely manner, professionally done and at a reasonable price.  Kept everything neat and orderly.

Would highly recommend them.

It went great! They were able to get us in within a day and showed up on time and with all tools necessary to complete the work. Derek was knowledgable and courteous. Will definitely use them again!

Bertke was prompt in coming out to give me an estimate on upgrading my electric service to accommodate a new A/C system. They were the only electrician who provided me with a quote immediately, instead of waiting for days and weeks to receive one via mail.

They happily worked with my schedule. Bob and Derek were very knowledgeable, professional, polite, and friendly.
Bob was a good mediator between Duke Energy and the Electrical Inspectors. Not an easy task, given the unique challenge of the set up of my house.

All of the work and costs were clearly explained to me prior to any work being done. And best of all, no payment was due until all of the work was completed, and the Electrical Inspection was passed.

Bob was very organized in his approach to finding the problem, quickly eliminated several options to pinpoint the living room receptacle as the problem. He found frayed and rusted wires, replaced them quickly and neatly. Bob was very pleasant and patient in describing the issues so we clearly understood what the problem was, what was the likely cause, and what he was doing to fix it. He also let us know that because it was an emergency call, he could not give us the usual Angie's List discount, but he would make sure the next service call we would be well-taken care of.
We were very impressed with the service and are happy to have found our new electrician at Bertke Electric.

Very pleased with the work and would recommend Bertke Electrical Services and Bob Steltenkamp to anyone with similar needs to replace, upgrade and repair their old house. I had multiple quotes, and theirs was not the cheapest. The quality of their materials and installation was the very best.
Bob was very informative and answered all my questions about what did and did not need to be done. He and his helper were prompt, pleasant. communciated very well and always kept me informed on what they were doing. Diligent in their work and cleaned up afterwards.
I will definitely use them again for more projects in the future.

Bertke Electric were prompt, they said they'd be here at 9 and they were. The quality of the work is very good.

Cost was $400 less than 2 other estimates I had been given.  They did an excellent job and did an excellent clean up also.  Very nice to work with and gave us options as well.

Serviceman showed up on time, quickly went to work and carefully explained all my problems and alternatives to remedy them.  Since I was getting ready to put my house on the market I opted to do a full replacement.  The work was completed in one day.
I was particularly impressed with the 10 year warranty which will hold true for any new owners.

They were very, very good in their service.  They made sure about everything.  They worked professionally.  They were very competitive.  Their folks were very good and prompt.

I chose Bertke as an alternative based on their quoted price to service the unit to determine the failure of the generator to exercise, i.e. self-start, every 2 weeks.  The service person used my installation and service manuals and after 1 1/2 hours found the cause to be loose wires.  The system has self-started every 2 weeks and during 3 recent Duke Electric power outages.
I also received a callback from the supervisor the next day to check on my satisfaction.  I saved over 60% by using Bertke Electric.  They have to purchase replacement parts from Buckeye Power Sales (the distributor) but their per hour labor rate beats Buckeye Power Sales hands down.

Excellent service! The electrician walked me through everything that had happened due to the lightning strike. Would not declare a room safe until it was thoroughly checked. Very professional but also very empathetic to what had happened & so close to the holidays. Worked with me in every aspect. Even when the insurance adjuster came out, the electrician walked with us to help point out what had been worked on due to the damage done from the lightning as well as pointing out what work still needed to be completed. What is really nice, when we need an electrician again, the same electrician will work with us in the future. Every area that was worked in was cleaned up by the electrician before moving on to another area. Without electricity & Internet capabilities it was so nice to be able to call Angie's List for help. The responsiveness of Betke was prompt. The quotation was simple and clear. The electrician did a very good job and kept the premises neat and clean. The work was bid on a job-basis, not hourly.

Excellent, was very professional. Gave an up front estimate at each step which I really appreciated. Electrician was friendly and professional and didn't complain about the misbehaving/loud children nearby! :)
Work was done in a few hours, left the area cleaner than when he started, and the lighting works again!
Could not be happier. Will recommend to friends.

It was fine. Everything that needed to be done was done and we have a contract with them. They will probably be back soon.

I had the technician (Eric) repair one switch that was broken. He did a good job on that.
The estimate for the complete job was outlandish. They wanted to charge $132 to install an exterior light, as an example. However, I was providing the light and it was replacing an existing light that was there. Thus, all they had to do was take the old one down and put the new one up. And they wanted $132 for that when I had another company say it would be at most $40.
