Very professional and was available on short notice. Results were thoroughly explained and the report was sent the same day the test was picked up.

We asked for a radon test after talking with a friend who had just bought a house and their results were above the acceptable limit. We immediately started calling around and Secured Spaces was able to schedule an appointment the next day. It was a 48 hour test and when they returned, we had the results immediately. Luckily. we were within the acceptable range which made us feel better about the 5 years we've been in our home and the next many years we will spend here.

Secured Spaces was prompt, very knowledgeable, thorough, friendly, and we received the results right on the spot! I absolutely would recommend (and have recommended) them to anyone without hesitation.

Requested professional radon testing during the home inspection period of a home purchase. My expectations were twofold: 1. an accurate radon level reading with professional equipment, and 2, consultation from an expert on what the reading means. Secured spaces was satisfactory for part 1. For the expert consultation, they were poor.
To their credit, they performed duties on time and to schedule, and they gave an accurate (to my knowledge) readout of results. However, they did not provide a satisfactory expert opinion on what any of the actual readout numbers mean.
The EPA has an action limit of 4 pCi/L, but they recommend considering action between 2-4 pCi/L and say that no level of radon is safe. The World Health Organization set a limit at 2.7 pCi/L with the caveat that the goal should 0.4 (the average outdoor reading). I found this information in ~2 minutes. My contractor was only aware of the limit of 4 pCi/L, and stated that anything below that level is safe because the EPA said so which is completely false.
The limit of 4 pCi/L is equivalent to more than 200 chest x-rays of radiation per year.

Response from Advanced Radon Testing
"Dear Member, We appreciate your feedback as we are a newer company and are constantly looking for ways to better improve our business and customer interaction. We apologize that you feel your experience did not meet your expectations. When performing a radon test during a real estate transaction, the EPA guidelines are very clear. An overall average measurement less than 4.0 picocuries per liter of air (pCi/l) is acceptable. Our report also includes that the national average indoor radon level is about 1.3 pCi/l while outdoor radon levels average 0.4 pCi/l. The higher a home’s radon level, the greater the health risk to you and your family. While I am happy to answer any questions relevant to that particular test while onsite, I think a more in-depth discussion on radon physics, chemistry, geology, and of course health studies are better conducted away from the home inspection. We always let our clients know that they will receive an official report via email that same day and welcome any additional questions or discussion of radon in general at a more appropriate time. It is nice that you visited the epa.gov/radon website as the information there is very helpful to anyone who is not familiar with the basics of radon and it’s health risks."
