Early Saturday morning, we detected a water leak originating in the plastic water line that fed the kitchen refrigerator from the basement. We immediately shut off water, and began drying affected areas of water. We also opened several small holes in a stairwell box to allow release of retained water. We determined this situation was not going to dry on its own, and for documentation purposes took pictures and called ServPro of Pickaway and Chillicothe, Ohio.
The call was answered by ServPro's answering service, and I received a callback from the ServPro dispatcher within 15 minutes. Bridgette(dispatcher) was courteous and took detailed info for the technicians and records. She stated she would call-out a tech team, gave me an accurate estimated time of arrival, and stated I would receive a call from the techs when they were en route. I received a call from the tech within an hour to advise when I could expect them. That was accurate and fulfilled.
The techs arrived, performed a detailed assessment of damage, explained the mitigation plan they proposed, and began opening a drywall area that needed to be dried. They cleaned up the debris, and set up multiple dehumidifiers and fans in the kitchen and basement. They explained the process, things we should watch for, walked us through the paperwork process, and answered all of our questions.
They returned daily to monitor progress, take environmental readings, and kept us informed about the progress. Due to a large event elsewhere during our mitigation process, the tech called to see how things were progressing. He stated it would be very late if he were to make a daily progress visit on the day the equipment might have been removed. We okayed an extension to the next day. They came the next day, found the drying process to be complete, removed their equipment, and did a final cleanup. We completed final paperwork, and they answered any remaining questions and advised us how we could proceed with restoration.
Since this was a relatively small event, we did not file a claim and paid the expenses out of pocket. Bridgette was most helpful and accommodating with the billing. We even received consideration for the extra day's equipment usage.
We were 100% satisfied with the total experience, and we would certainly use ServPro again if necessary.
