BEATTY GENERAL CONTRACTING

Lionel repeatedly told me how much he loved my couch. Well he loved it so much that he left grapes and grape stems all over it and on the floor. He also left behind dust from his work clothes on my $3000 couch. So I've not only bleached his urine from my bathroom, I've also cleaned his snack mess off my furniture and floor.
I came home several times to the door that opens from my house to my garage standing wide open. I shut it every time and repeatedly asked Lionel why does he keep leaving my door open. Lionel replied, "Well, I'm cold and I just figured I'd heat the garage up with the heat from inside the house. You'll be alright, I know all of this dust is getting in there too, but you'll be able to clean it all up once I'm done." I told Lionel over ten times to stop leaving my door open and that he is doing nothing but running my electric bill up. I also said, "Come on now, you're contractors, where are your heaters at that you plug in to heat your workspace up? I don't kind you using my electricity for those heaters but my door will not be left open again." Lionel replied that the heaters are big and heavy and he didn't feel,like carrying them. Well, I got my bill and it's $200+ for eight days of heat. All the dust has also given me a severe sinus infection as well as provoked my seizure disorder to flare up. I didn't reveal my Epilepsy to Lionel because I shouldn't have to because that's what the door is there for, to keep the dust and mess in the garage, not almost an inch of it covering all of my stuff inside my house.
Frank did all of the electrical and plumbing work. Well, he got really mad at me when I told him to bring back the bathroom hardware he replaced in one of my bathrooms. He said, "I recycle." I said yeah, so does my Mom and it will be going to here to recycle as she chooses once I take it apart. So he slammed a few of his tools around quite loudly once I let him know we won't the copper and other metals inside the old sink faucet so we can recycle them ourselves. Frank also was quite upset when he found a board in my garage rafters that he wanted to take home and use to make a shelf in his garage. I let him politely know that it was going to make a nice shelf in my garage right here. Lionel then comes and tells me that I don't understand what his brother is trying to tell me, he wants the board to make shelf out of it in his garage. I very loudly told them both that either one of the understand that it will make a shelf just fine here in my garage.
Last Friday when the TWC guy was here, he went outside to get something from his truck. Frank was out there and said to him, "Yeah man, this could have easily been finished up in less that three days, this is is our second week here. Ya know, do an hour here, two,hours there. We're just here stretching it out, ya know, milking it for whatever we can get extra. You know how that is, just trying to squeeze every penny, dime and nickel we can out of it on the side." Well, the cable guy told me verbatim what Frank said which didn't sit too well with the cable guy because he knows how hard it is out here and how unprofessional they behaved towards me.
Well, they've, meaning Frank and Lionel, have tried to get anything they can just like he told the cable guy. Lionel told my Mom that if there's any other work that needs to be done, if she pays him cash he will cut her a deal on the price since he won't have to claim it and pay taxes on it. That's fine and dandy, but not when y'all have sexually, mentally, financially and healthcare wise bashed, berated and disrespected her disabled daughter.
I will NOT ever use any one from this company, any affiliates nor any relatives from Beatty General Contracting again. I will NOT even tell anyone to use their services because they need to be held accountable for their disrespect, unprofessional and downright ignorantly asinine work ethics. I would advise anyone doing work to be home when they get work done for the reasons stated above. Do NOT give anyone the power to blatantly be disrespectful to you in your own home when they're getting paid to work for you. If I was paying this out of my own pocket, I would've fired them immediately with the first incident and hired new contractors while filing a court case against Beatty General Contracting. This job was tied into my federal USDA loan and needed to be completed in a short time.
Ooh yeah, I almost forgot. Lionel stated for months that they would begin work as soon as I closed on November 15, 2013. Well, Lionel advised me that they would begin working on my home around the first of Decmber. Well, I had to be out of my apartment by the first and they almost caused me to have to pay a full months rent in the amount of $500+ USD. My electrical box had five things that were double tapped when I bought the home. The box was push button and very old and outdated. Safety hazard that had to be fixed before I could move in. Well, Mom had a friend fix it for me since the Beattys were dragging their feet getting started. Frank wasn't too happy about that either because he said, "Heym how much do you think it would cost to have one of those boxes installed? I was thinking about getting one installed in my house and don't know what I should pay to have one out in since they're fairly new type of boxes." I replied, "Well, why don't you just do it yourself? You're an electrician so why pay someone else to do,your work, sounds stupid to me. I can have Mom ask what he charges, but probably anywhere from $1200-$3500, depending upon how much juice you need." That's how much my ex boyfriend in Cincinnati charges." Frank, "Hmm, that's exactly what I thought so you did pay someone when I only would've charged you $850 cash...now how much did you say you paid again?" I replied, " I didn't pay anything, my Moms friend did it as a favor to her and a house warming gift to me and my family. I already told you several people are helping me out of the kindness of their hearts because they've told me it feels good to help someone who's been sick all their life and really deserves a nice home like this. Stop coming at me like I'm lying because I could care less what you think, I care everything about what God thinks, shouldn't y'all too?" Well, the look on Franks face was priceless and that's the last time my electrical box was spoken of or mentioned.

The End of the Beatty Unprofessional Roller-coaster without seat-belts

Construction went fine. It took them about 10 days. They worked on it @ 10 days. Afterward I had Lionel stop by and showed him 3 items I wanted corrected. He said just as soon as he could work me in. Two years later he still hasn't worked me in. After MANY phone calls to his brother Frank, Frank did come over and braced a wobble in the deck and did replace a faucet in the kitchen for my wife. Frank is fine for the most part. About a month ago I decided to seal/stain the deck. I noticed 3-4 boards had been cut short, two of which were warping badly and had pulled themselves away from the deck. My wife wanting them fixed called Lionel, he said he would be over the next day after 4:00. A week later still no Lionel. So I sent him this e-mail;
Hello Lionel, This is Tom Stanhope. My wife Carolyn tells me she talked to you last Sunday about 4 boards on our deck that are so badly warped they are actually pulling loose from the deck. She said you told her you would stop after work on Monday and see if you could take care of the problem. Since you didn't show up Monday or all week for that matter should I assume you forgot or that you just aren't coming? That shouldn't happen after just 18 months I don't believe. I have Shawn Goodwill standing by to power wash and re-seal the deck, but he isn't a carpenter. Please let me know your intent. Regards, Tom Stanhope
That was July 20th. Haven't heard a thing. I fixed it myself and am done with Beatty General Contracting. So they did decent enough work, but don't expect ANY follow-up once Lionel is gone.
