It took a few rounds of phone tag to initially get someone out for an estimate and because we couldn't work out a time to meet it took a couple of rounds to finally get the estimates I was looking for, but I am glad I persisted.
Hazen transformed my 300+ foot pot hole and puddle filled gravel drive that had recently started erupting with vegetation down the middle into a tarmac you wouldn't be faulted for thinking was concrete at first glance. They also replaced my culvert pipe and regraded the apron when it meets the street. Between the apron and the driveway the drive is so smooth and quiet that it is not unusual for me to be almost all the way up the driveway before the dog notices I'm home. I am amazed at what Jeff and his quite impressive crew were able to accomplish and how quickly they were able to get it done. It took them two days for the apron and the driveway.
Don't be afraid to ask about non-gravel/asphalt work. I was in the middle of getting estimates for filling in an old neglected pool while talking with Jeff and just threw it out there asking if it was something he'd be willing to give me a price on and he was (I also found out that they also do concrete work). He misquoted the amount of dirt needed to do the job (after all I wouldn't call that their specialty) but still ended up being competitively priced. Not only did working with Hazen save me having to write one more check, but it saved having to try to coordinate two large jobs with two separate contractors and if you've ever done that you know how complicated that can be. That is to say nothing of the quality of the work his crew did on the pool which was first rate.
The only real complaint I had about any of the work they did was the lack of communication regarding where we were with the job. A phone call or note at the end of the day or a more clear explanation of how things were going to progress would have saved me some worry about unfinished work. In the end however Jeff took care of all of my concerns and I am very happy with the results.
There are companies that; get the job done per the minimum spec, get the job done right and those that get the job done right and go out of their way to deliver satisfaction and I would put Hazen squarely in the last category. Jeff will be my first call the next time I need driveway (or anything similar) work done in the future and I would not hesitate to recommend Hazen to anyone.

The driveway job went very nicely. The cost included prep work, grading and replacement of a culvert. All expectations were met in the final product. A section of the drive was shared with a neighbor and Jeff Hazen took the time to explain all the options and find a way to make the job affordable for both parties. The work was scheduled five weeks out during a week that would be most convenient for us. True to form the work was done exactly when planned.

I am very happy with the quality and speed on how they did the job. Jeff is a first class person to deal with and kept in contact with us before the job was started to keep us informed of work date. It - of course - is subject to proper weather conditions.

I called for an estimate; Jeff came out and left the estimate. He called the day before work was to be done and a couple men came and did the work and I received a bill in the mail. So organized, quick and well done.

They got the job quickly once the weather cooperated. They started one morning with a huge crew of people and equipment and then had to competely shut down because we had a downpour for several hours. They came back a few days later when everything had dried out and got the job done very quickly

Overall, except for the snag of the broken pipe, things went very smoothly. Jeff Hazen returned my initial call promptly and we set up a day for the project and they were there promptly and did what needed to be done. Jeff came out to supervise and I know he was in contact with the men and was very aware of the problem they encountered. He was on top of the project from start to finish. All of the workers were very pleasant and polite. They all seem to feel that maybe the occasional water problems in my basement and sump pump running so much and not accomplishing anything, may now be corrected. If this proves to be the case, I may be lucky that they found the broken pipe.

Jeff Hazen came to look at the driveway and do an estimate when he said he would. The written estimate was in the mail when he said it would be. Their price was a bit higher than others, but he did what he said he would do when he said he would do it. That carries a lot of credibility with me. They got the cracks sealed and the sealcoat on all in the same day. They trimmed back the grass from the drive. My only gripe is the weedwacker operator sprayed grass clippings all over the boat and trailer parked next to the driveway. Not a big deal. Would use them again.

I have been very satisfied, they come when they say they will and do it at the price they quote. They are very easy to work with.
