LARS CONSTRUCTION

LARS construction might be an okay general contractor where he is hiring OTHERS to do the work but Larry himself, Is in no way a flooring specialist which is what I hired him to do. I was asked to give him the job from a mutual friend and former client of LARS Construction because "at the time" he was in need of the work. I was certainly willing to give the work to some one local to the Chagrin Falls area. I was assured that he was capable however this is just not true. Within weeks of my flooring being put in, I began having problems with the flooring lifting/buckling/mounding. He returned only to offer no explanation but offered a bandaid of cutting down the width of one floor board. when the problems persisted, he stop returning my phone calls and has done nothing to fix the problem. I hired a nationally recognized flooring specialist to inspect the problem and determine why this was occurring. After a 2 hour inspection of the problem, a partial summary of his findings are as follows: Mr Peter Fahey, a NWFA Certified Hardwood Flooring Inspector, complete an inspection of the floor and prepare a written report. In his report he concluded that ?There is no defect in the flooring material, but a natural and predictable seasonable expansion. The installer did not follow Sheoga or industry installation requirements for required expansion space at all vertical surfaces. The installed did not use the correct length, number, or type of fastener. The installer did not use a stairnosing at the basement stairs?..The only complete correction for the defective installation is a complete removal and replacement?. The flooring has been damaged to such an extent that it all has to be replaced. It is going to cost me $11,000 to do that. My attorney has contacted LARS CONSTRUCTION/ Larry, as the general contractor, and it had his insurance company come in and do their own inspection only to reveal that LARS CONSTRUCTION DOES NOT CARRY INSURANCE FOR THEIR WORK! Only to cover damages they might cause to your home while they are on your property. I have given them every opportunity to rectify this problem. If itvis otbresolved within the next 30 days, I will be taking them to court for recovery of my losses.
