Excellent service. Have used Gary and his son for the past 10 years. Always fast, on time, and easy with a very fair price. We had an septic emergency the other night and Gary came out at 11:00 quickly to handle it personally. Super nice guy who cares about your needs.

They were my second estimate. They came out the same day I called to diagnose a septic problem. Mr. Kaufmann was very professional & friendly. His diagnosis was different and much less of a hassle than another company. He was able to fix it at a fraction of the cost! I would definitely recommend this company!

Gary was great. I called on Tuesday and scheduled service on Thursday. He arrived exactly when he said he would. He cleaned out both of our tanks. Then he checked our septic alarm, he had me go inside so I would know what it sounded like, and would know what is was if it ever went off. I didn't know much about our septic system so I had a lot of questions. Gary answered every one of them. He took the time to walk our property, explain the system, showed where our leach field was located and how/when to switch fields. He's a good guy and I will definitely call him next time.

We had a pump wire that burned out. He replaced it and now everything is working. He also checked on the D box and switched the flow. All this for no charge. I would highly recommend!

Called on a Monday and scheduled the clean out for Wednesday between noon and 2 pm. Gary and his son, Gary, arrived within the promised time slot and emptied three tanks totaling 1800 gallons (1,000+500+300). The truck and equipment were extremely clean. Both Gary's were very professional and courteously answered all of my questions. The charge of $285 was reasonable and I plan to use them again.

On a late Friday afternoon I arrived home to my septic system alarm going off.  Being fairly new to septic systems, a quick Internet search showed the alarm was likely the result of a bad septic pump, that while not incredibly urgent, did need addressed soon.
I called G. Kaufman's and left a message regarding the situation.  Within an hour Gary returned my call and gave me a quick rundown of what water usage should be appropriate - and what to avoid - until he could get out to check the problem.
His son called the next morning - Gary was out of town - and stopped out soon after to look at the pump.  He confirmed the pump was likely bad, and assured us that we'd be okay with non-excessive water use until his dad could come out to replace the pump the next day.  He gave me his phone number just in case we had any issues in the interim.
The next day - Sunday - Gary called to see if we were home and if he could stop by.  After some investigating to find the breaker that controlled the septic pump, he confirmed the pump was bad and replaced it.
I can't say enough about the professionalism and responsiveness of both Gary and his son.  The fact that he responded so quickly to my initial call, and got the problem diagnosed and fixed over the weekend, says a lot about how he does business.
Without a doubt, I will be calling Gary with any future septic issues I may have.

I called the company directly and they returned my call within 15 minutes. They were able to accommodate my scheudule and come to my residence on our first available day. It was raining and they were still prompt and willing to work through the weather. They cleaned the septic tank and gave us recommendations on how much longer the tank would last since we were unsure of where we stood because we recently purchased the home. They were friendly and professional. We will definitely be using their services again.

It seems more often than not, my interactions with contractors (in
any field) tends to lean towards the negative. We were all raised with the
clichand eacute; and quot;they don't make him like that anymore,and quot; well Gary and his son
fall into that category. I'm very pleased to be able to leave such a positive
review because there were about ten different ways that today could have gone
horribly wrong. First of all I purchased the house I currently live in July
2013. In Aurora, the city does not require a septic inspection but because the
property had been so well-maintained, I was not concerned and waved a septic
inspection figuring that the worst that could happen is I have to replace it.
Needless to say, there was no inspection or pump out done prior to my occupying
this residence. I've been here a year and emailed the previous owners asking
them the last time they had the service performed and though they could not
remember specifically their advice was just to get it done. I went on Angie's
list and found Gary Kaufman, who answered the phone while clearly working and
made an appointment to come out within a few days.
Gary and his son were right on time at 8:15 AM,
and I was a little embarrassed because I didn't know where the septic tank
access was but assumed that they might be able to find it. Gary and his son
scouted all over my property in light rain looking for a septic tank to no
avail. I remembered a small organizer that the previous owners left me with all
of their household receipts and thought to look and see if there was any
information about the septic system. We were fortunate to find a map however we
couldn't make heads or tails of it... Based on the map the septic tank would be
located in a very odd place, and we could not find it. This went on for at
least 20 minutes, in the rain, without a single complaint from either one of
them until Gary figured out where the septic tank and quot;hadand quot; to be. Not
one, but two, 1000 gallon tanks were located underneath a stone patio. Gary
figured out where the lids would be located and lifted up the stone exposing
the access ports. The job was done professionally, and they showed me something
about my property that I was not aware of which is something everyone who has a
septic system needs to know… Where it's located.
I started this review off by saying this could have
gone differently and from experience many contractors would've walked away
demanding a service fee for their time. I'm confident a lesser company would
have insisted that I locate the septic tank so that all they had to do was come
back and pump out. It may be noteworthy to mention that the city of Aurora has
a septic service that they offer to residents for $185 which is basically what
I paid Kaufman. The reason I chose to go with a slightly more expensive outside
contractor is because of his experience and overall reviews on Angie's list.
All Gary did for me was pump out a couple of septic tanks however if I ever
have an issue with this system Gary will be the contractor I'll call.

While having our septic line scoped to confirm its integrity, we discovered a previously unknown tank upstream from the one we've been pumping out every five years. The previous homeowner didn't mention it, and probably didn't know about it either. Needless to say after at least twelve years, this tank was FULL. Called this company based solely on an ad in the local paper. The lady I spoke to was very helpful when I explained the situation, and even suggested an emergency visit (which I didn't feel was necessary - what's a couple more days on top of twelve years?). The visit was scheduled for a week hence between 12 and 2.
Now, that sort of scheduling makes me uneasy after several bad experiences (think Time Warner Cable). Today arrived, I got home from work at 11:45, and lo and behold precisely on the strike of noon I hear the truck pull up outside.
Gary and his assistant went to work immediately, and within 25 minutes were pulling out of the driveway. They were fast and efficient. He answered all my questions to my satisfaction.
I give Gary high marks for his professionalism, punctuality, well-maintained equipment and knowledge. Got the magnet on the fridge and will be calling him in two years for the next visit.

We moved to Chesterland 3 years ago, having never lived in a house with a septic system. Gary explained how it worked, cleaned both tanks and cleaned everything up nicely afterwards. He asked me if I had a coupon for the two tank cleaning and when I said I did not, he said he would give me the coupon. I will continue to use them in the future.

Gary came out and cleaned out our properties septic tank. Did an excellent job, far better than the who our city contracts with. Very courteous and professional. Made maintenance and service recommendations w/o any pressure what-so-ever. Will continue to use Kaufman's even though we get a discount if we go with the city contractor.

He said it wasn't super urgent. He said he'd be out on Sunday to take a look. He came out on Sunday as promised and pulled the pump and float valve assembly out of the tank. After some sleuthing he discovered the float valve was bad. He replaced it and we re-tested everything, all okay and working properly again.
Because he guarantees his equipment for a year Gary did not charge me a cent for the visit or the equipment. I believe he conducts himself with great integrity and he does what he says he's going to do and means what he says. Can't ask for more than that.

We noticed an unpleasant smell coming from our backyard and suspected an issue with our septic system. We weren't scheduled to be cleaned for at least another year but I called Gary Kaufman anyway. He came out same day, took a look, diagnosed the problem as a bad pump and float valve, and replaced and repaired everything that same day too. I think the pump burned out during a lightning storm back a month or two ago.
The service wasn't cheap but I do very much appreciate Gary's ability to diagnose and treat appropriately. This is the second time we've used him and he's always been friendly and knowledgeable.

Gary was contacted to help walk me through the in's and outs of our septic systems as we recently moved from an are that had sewer. He was nice enough to stop by on a Saturday to explain how the switching of the the drain fields worked and what to look for. Fortunately he came out when he did because he discovered that the septic pump was not working nor was the high water alarm. All three tanks were full and were about to overflow. Within an hour (on Saturday) he had technician out to pump out the main tank. First thing Monday Gary was out to replace the pump and reconnect the now working high water alaram.
Over all I was very happy with his service and will use him again in the future.

Gary was efficient, did what he came to do, and had all the right equipment. His pricing is in line with what others charge to do this work. I think you'd be hardpressed to find a better contractor.

Mr. Kaufman arrived promptly and completed the pumping in 1/2 hour.

He called me ahead of time to let me know when he would be there. They cleaned out our tanks thoroughly. He also cleaned out the lift station for no extra charge. I have been told that it is rare for these companies to do that. I had a million questions about our septic system in general, and Gary answered every one of them. I will definitely call him next time.
