My 23-year old kitchen needed a total facelift as it had the original builder grade honey oak cabinets that were looking pretty shabby,
especially since I'd totally remodeled every other room in the condo. Getting the cart before the horse, I'd already replaced the inner shelving in the lower cabinets with full extension rollouts and had had new stainless steel appliances installed, as well as new granite counter tops and stainless steel sink, so it wasn't feasible to replace the lower ones. Refacing was my best option for the facelift - at least for the lower cabinets.
I contacted several kitchen remodelers in Cincinnati and most referred me to other companies because they didn't offer refacing. I found Creative Cabinet Innovations on the internet, and I met with the owner, Brad, and discussed refacing the lower cabinets and replacing the upper ones because I wanted taller ones (from 30" to 36" high) due to my vaulted ceilings. I wanted the new cabinets painted to coordinate with the new granite and hardwood flooring. During our discussion, Brad made recommendations about the wood to be used (poplar, because it takes paint very well), the dimensions, and the choice of paint color that would work best. A few weeks later, Brad arrived to remove the existing upper cabinets, prep for the refacing of the lower cabinets and install of the new upper cabinets. Over the 3 days he was here, he arrived promptly each morning, was meticulous in his work, explained what he was doing and why, and cleaned up the work area every evening before leaving. On day 3, the great reveal! Beautiful cabinets that are simply stunning, every handle perfectly placed, bumpers on every door, just perfect. And as a bonus, he had installed the new microwave. I couldn't be happier, and my new kitchen is the envy of the other condo owners in my building. Brad is absolutely great at what he does, and I will be recommending him to all my friends and neighbors (and Angie's List members) looking for cabinet refacing with or without addition of new cabinetry. Thanks, Brad ? I?m looking forward to preparing my first Christmas dinner in the new kitchen.
