"Thank you for your review [Member Name Removed], We dispatched Shawn to your residence on Friday July 19. Fortunately we were able to respond to your call the same day. Shawn diagnosed the problem as a seized blower motor and manually broke the motor free. He then called the home warranty company and explained the problem to them. On July 23 we were alerted that the customer was not happy due to using a handyman that they found via a Facebook post. It is the customers’ opinion that we misdiagnosed the issue. We informed her and her significant other that if the fan was seized and was then broken free by our tech, that it would work for a short amount of time before seizing again. The customer was not interested in this explanation and was only interested in a refund. The customer was informed that if she felt we made an error, that we would have been happy to have come out again if she would have only contacted us first. Once she had a handyman perform work, she is now working with that handyman. We do not know the handyman’s credentials, if he/she is a certified technician, etc. I would like to apologize for any confusion, but we stand by our diagnosis, as Shawn has over 23 years in the field."
Bought heat pump in 2012 (from vendor) with warrant on parts for 10 yrs. On May 16th the Tech came out checked everything took 30 mins to find the problem. Need a new defrost control board and they would have to order one. Tech gave me the invoice: Labor to install the new defrost control board $250.44 plus shipping and handling $82.74 plus todays diagnostic work $69.00=$402.18
After I picked myself off the floor the tech called the office and asked if they could waive the shipping and handling...office said OK. I believe they got the part in Cincinnati, Ohio 2hrs away. Package weighted 5 pounds.
I asked the tech how long would it take to put on the new defrost control board and he said maybe a half hour. Then why are you charging me $250.44? He said that is what the book states. I believe this price is outrageous.
On May 27th, tech was scheduled to come between noon and 2pm. He came at 2pm put the part in and it took 20 minutes. The charge for labor $240.44.
So for a heat pump that I bought in 2012, already needing a part that costs .00, and paid for a 20 minutes labor job $250.44
Never will I use them again.
"We are sorry you fell this way. There is a lot more to a warranty parts than the time it takes to install the part you have administrative time to fill out the warranty paper work there is the time spent packing up and delivering the warranty parts back to the vendors to be processed and many more things."
They offer a inexpensive monthly check up plan that provides 2 yearly check ups, which have been beneficial. Great personal service with affable technicians!
my A/C just kept breaking. They only charged the first time and then
came out at no cost until the thing was finally fixed! I highly recommend this company!
