My wife and I hired Rich to remodel our kitchen. I am so glad we did. My wife is an architect and she can be very particular about how she wants things done. Rich is probably the only contractor we've hired recently that we didn't have any problems with. He listened to all of our questions and requests and either complied or provided logical answer on why it it could or couldn't not get done. He's a patient and smart guy. I have to praise him on how he managed to remove the existing kitchen wall to open the layout and place some of the installations in other walls, something that no other contractors wanted to touch or were making things more complicated just to be able to charge more. He's good and funny person too. After the project ended in roughly 3 weeks, my wife and I talked how we missed his daily jokes. I would highly recommend Rich for any home remodeling project.

Great! Rich completely remodeled the bathroom in my elderly parents' house.  He has a lot of business, so told us upfront that he couldn't do the job for about a month, but he started the project on exactly the date he'd told us he would. He was always on time and was very friendly and professional. He was very respectful of the fact that he was working on the house of older people and was very careful to accommodate their needs.  The project looks great, and they are very happy.  We had no problems whatsoever and are hoping Rich can take on at least one more project in their house.

The primary signed contract was for $7K. Rich Troyan and his assistance Chris started on March 6, 2014 as per contract. First, they never started on time accept once at 9 am( typical start time was 10:15 or 10;30 am), took extended 1.5hrs or more lunch breaks, assistance took smoke breaks almost every hour. Rich worked only part of the day and without his presence and guidance, work suffered and got messed up (mixed ceiling and wall paints, messed up tile joints). They fell behind and to make matters worse, assistance started to drywall the basement for a second project, that was discussed verbally (Rich purchased almost $600 worth material for the "second project" without my permission so he could improve his credit. I reimbursed in good faith and asked him to write the second contract before spending any money or start work, which he never did. We stopped them on second project immediately and asked them to focus on finishing the first. After two weeks, Rich started another project /projects somewhere( Youngstown/Cleveland?) and our project really suffered. Then one weekend, he and assistance worked in a hurry and in very shoddy way, left a mess ( and their ladder), without finishing the work ,because he had fallen behind on other projects too). I tried repeatedly to contact him to finish the work but got no response. The list of things that were not completed are:
1. Light over the main kitchen sink
2. Non-functioning switch for the 8 LED lights
3. Two bags of insulation that he took out to install LED lights
4. Finishing/securing the installation of old cabinets(require plywood finish on several cabinets because they were cut up in a shoddy way and look horrible.
5. Unsecured old Counter tops on kitchen cabinets
5. Trim, toe kicks  and quarter round on the old cabinets in the basement
6. Hooking up the sink in the basementsecuring/old kitchen cabinet
After repeated failed attempts, we contracted another contractor at an additional cost of $1080 to finish items 4-6 above at the end of June, 2014. Rich never returned $163 he pocketed for returning some of the materials that were not used. Biggest disappointment for this contractor is his failure to be punctual, or respect for his work or responsibility . He had horrible work habits and work ethics. He did not properly secure the project  area/Kitchen so dust spread everywhere in the House ( Formal dining, Living room/family room and study). My wife and I were exceptionally good to him and treated them nicely, gave him money as needed and even in advance with Home Depot gift card. I even had  to pick up everyday after their mess; partial or empty pop glasses, food wrappers, debri and other construction items. All in all, it was a big let down and I will recommend this contractor for anything. Oh, yes, one more thing, he is clever and purposely vague about writing a detailed Contract.
Response from Rich's Remodeling
"I feel bad about the way this project ended. This customer made me rewrite this contract three times til he was satisfied then still hand wrote stuff in on the day of signing. He had all he wanted at the time of signing. He repeatedly would add work dragging a 3 week job into a six week job. I was there for 5 wks straight myself. I never bought anything that he told me not to but then would change his mind later about. I try to only work on one project at a time to avoid confusion. He had us work on three at one time. Every time I would try an do something he would tell me no we'll do that later. We had a plastic barrier up at his house for most of the project, he had us take it down. We left the project after six wks because we could never finish a project because he had more projects to do. He said an I quote "if I let you finish one project you will never come back to do any more". I am very honest with all customers including him. He refused to have 3000 lbs of material delivered cause it cost to much. So I had to pay to rent a uhaul to pay to deliver his material an never got reimbursed for that. He was buying all material an we had to wait for him find a deal before we could get it. I am sorry this project ended the way it did but I did everything in my contract an then some for less than the contract amount. He only paid me $6000 of a$7500 project."

Rich was on time for estimate. Was detailed in his explanation of the work he would do and the time it would take. Let us know ahead of time of any changes in schedule. We made some changes to type and color of tile and Rich was helpful in getting samples for us. Work done on time. Cleaned up and removed all debris. Very pleased with our new shower.

Had to call Rich back for minor repair and he took care of it promptly.

Rich is very personable and easy to work with.

Second floor bathroom remodel including removal of tub, tile, vanity, flooring, vent stack demo, install exhaust fan.
Several years ago I replaced the furnace with a high efficiency  powered vent furnace.  The only item using the central house flue was the hot water tank.  By replacing the hot water tank with a powered vent I was able to reclaim the vent stack as living space.  This enabled a larger vanity to be installed and will enable a larger first floor vanity to be installed later.
Tub, tile, floor and vanity removal went well.  Kept the carpets outside the bathroom clean and dust in the house to a minimum. Wall demo to reclaim the vent stack went equally well.
Rich was good at communicating with us so that he understood exactly what we were after.  We went and picked out the vanity, counter top and flooring.  He picked up these items and helped pick out the tub, lighting fixture and exhaust fan.
Remodeling never goes exactly according to plan and we had a few minor setbacks such as having to travel farther than expected to get the correct hot water tank and some unseen water damage to the subfloor.
Installation included new shower fixtures, sink fixtures, re-installing toilet, new water cutoffs, electrical for new fan and individual switch, light fixtures, flooring, paint and hvac vent covers.
Rich communicated  his schedule well and when things didn't go as planned.  Entire project took a week.
Looks GREAT!  If I had to get really picky, I could complain that some of the brush strokes in the paint may have been short.
The plumbing under the sink had a minor drip and after calling him that night Rich was out the next morning to fix it.  What more could you ask?
Rich and his crew are an earthy bunch of guys who have been doing this a long time.  They had a new guy they were training with them and never gave the new any slack.
Good price, great customer interaction, and I don't have to clean that miserable grout ever again!

Earlier this summer we had Rich remodel our bathroom and were very pleased with the work done. We then told him we wanted him to do kitchen. We gave him a price we wanted to spend and he was very helpful in planning and designing it while staying in budget. It too had to be stripped down to nothing like the bath. Cabinets, floor, ceiling, countertop, backsplash, all new. I of course changed my mind a few times about things but Rich always listened and did what I requested. He will change ,redo something if you are not satisfied no questions asked. Also my husband was worried about water leakage under sink so Rich heard about new liner KraftMaid cabinets offer and put it in at his own expense. We are very happy with our new beautiful kitchen and will use Rich in the future!

Rich is easy to work with and does a job with attention to detail.  We have used him for several small to medium projects and been satisfied each time.  At times our actual cost exceeded our estimate, however, there was always a valid unexpected reason during the process for the added cost.  We will use his services again, when the opportunity arises.  He usually works either alone or with one other person, so any given job could take some time.  This was not an issue with our projects, but if you were in a time crunch, I would inquire with him as to availability of additional man-power.

First of all we told Rich to gut our bathroom since it had been 29 yrs since last remodel. He did that including all new drywall. They were very neat, careful in removing the old fixtures etc. as not to cause damage when removing it. Always very courteous and answered our concerns and questions.  My husband and I were impressed that Rich was so meticulous with details and always took extra time if need be. Even if that meant going back to Lowe's 2-3 times in a row because I didn't specify that I wanted all brushed nickel hardware! He also would go beyond what he had originally quoted us to make sure things were what we wanted.Needless to say our new modern bathroom looks wonderful!!  We would highly recommend Riches remodeling. In fact he is going to give us a quote on remodeling our kitchen next.

Two west facing windows of house were leaking at any hard rain.  Previous contractor slapped new windows in (improperly at that) and did not address total water problem. We are very satisfied with final repair.  Turns out that the problem was much bigger than just old windows.  This contractor took the time to show us exactly what the problems were and to systematically take care of what was really causing them.  In the process he also found other issues which he addressed and fixed as well (i.e., a duct pipe for our heating and cooling on that side of the house was also not attached properly).  All work was completed with attention to detail.  We did spend more than our original estimate, but there was also way more wrong with that area than was apparent on surface inspection. Before leaving on completion of the window/framing repair we received an estimate from him for remodeling that lower west side room and are using his services presently for that room remodel. We would very much recommend his work with confidence.

In late May, I contacted Rich's Remodeling to replace a leaky drainpipe in my bathroom vanity. There was apparently a mix-up about the original appointment date, so no one came the first day. They did call to apologize, however, and were very prompt the next time. Rich was very knowledgeable about the structure of my 1928 home and corrected problems caused by previous owners. Because the vanity was an old buffet with drawers, he had to carefully redesign the plumbing of the drain to fit around those drawers, which he did very skillfully. I was more than pleased with all his work. My only concerns were that he did not have a motorized plumber's snake, which caused him to have to leave and return, and that he did chip the vanity front, although I think that can be easily repaired. I would definitely hire him again. I appreciated his detailed knowledge about my plumbing system, his friendliness, and his obvious concern about doing the job well.

The new bathroom looks fantastic. My wife and I are completely amazed. The house is over 80 years old, and we weren't sure what to expect as there are always unforseen issues that arise with our house. However, Rich and his team did a fantastic job! People cannot believe how wonderful it looks compared to the old bathroom. Showed pictures to someone who had seen the old one, and they were speechless. It looks like something out of a magazine. I wish I had taken a before picture. Throughout the process, Rich walked us through what would be done and when. It was a no-stress experience. Already looking forward to the next job we will be having Rich do.

I bought a foreclosed house and Rich's Remodel and Repair completely redid the kitchen. They redid the drywall, the cabinetry, counter tops, sinks, faucets, plumbing, ceiling repair, installed dishwasher, installed a garbage disposal, and painted. You should never live in the house during this kind of experience. I'm thrilled with the results, he was very responsive with my requests. It was very collaborative. The price was fair. The part that most people don't understand is that everything they do needs to be paid for. He moved a wall in a bathroom. He took it down and moved it four feet.
