We initially met with Realtor Sony Taylor to sell our residence. During the initial meeting we told her we were looking for a strong realtor that would aggressively market our home. Sony had stated that she had numerous clients lined up to see our home once it is listed, for she had given them the heads up that she is getting ready to list an awesome home. Sony stated that she is very aggressive and again reiterated that she has numerous potential clients just waiting to tour our home. She posted a teaser on her Facebook page. So far so good right? She began collecting all of the vital information necessary to list our home. She was given information about upgrades and remodeling as well as exclusive features to highlight. She stated that she will list the upgrades etc. as that is a great feature for her to point out to perspective buyers. Sony continued to tour the residence and take pictures to feature in the listing. We were told that she would send us the pictures to look at so we could approve. Again another positive. Once we completed all of the necessary paperwork she was given the customary key for the lock box. She asked if we had a code for the garage door key pad. She stated that she would keep it for herself and not give it to anyone. Great a conscientious realtor who has our safety and security in mind. Fast forward the MLS came out and pictures of the house were posted online and on her Facebook page. Wait a minute, we never saw them prior to being posted as previously agreed upon. The picture quality had a lot to be desired. Some of them were washed out, one picture showed a close-up of our kitchen sink with a glass washing brush sitting in it, several others were great pictures of the furniture but we were selling the house not the furniture. We retook all of the pictures and sent the new ones to her. STRIKE ONE! After a few showings by other realtors and looking at the feedback we realized that the numerous upgrades, that we were told are important selling points were never listed. Sony was again contacted and asked that the important selling points be listed. STRIKE TWO! Most recently our residence was scheduled for two showings in the same day, by other realtors. When we were following up on a minor issue with the first realtor, she told us she was unable to access the lock box due on the front door as the storm door was locked. She told me that she "had the office call my wife who gave her the code for the garage door." Upon checking the storm door after the conversation it was still locked, so I realized that the second realtor had the same issue. When I mentioned it to my wife, she said she was never called by anyone about the occurrences. Now two people had the garage door code without our knowledge or consent. STRIKES THREE AND FOUR! A decision was made that we were severing our ties with the realtor. When I called Sony and informed her of our decision she told me about the above incident and that SHE had given the two realtors the garage door code. When I inquired why we weren't called Sony stated that she didn't want to inconvenience us and that both realtors were very trustworthy and reputable. I explained that I am not questioning the trustworthiness of the other realtors. It only takes one person to write down the code numbers and another person oversee them. Thus the security of one's residence could become compromised with no malicious intent by the realtors.
