BEWARE - THINGS HAVE CHANGED -- I have used this company for years and years. They always use to be precise, honest, and competitive. But unfortunately something has changed drastically and I will never be using them again. We had an emergency with our furnace and they came right out on a Sunday. Upon them diagnosing the problem, they quoted me over 1900 for a service to fix the issue, and also quoted me over 7700 for more future service on the furnace. Mind you, this house is 900 sq ft and a brand new furnace installation is half this price. My husband asked about the ridiculous cost and the tech told him its a lot cheaper if we were to do it ourselves, so we asked for the part numbers we needed. He told us he does not have the part numbers available. We were not happy with the exchange so we reluctantly called a competitor, HVAC MECHANICAL SERVICES (614)286-7682 (ps-call them and thank me later). They came out the next day and fixed the issue for $584. I called the manager at Canal Heating and Cooling and I explained how we were happy, returning customers and are very upset with the outrageous quotes, the lack of transparency on part numbers and labor rates, and the over inflated future maintenance costs. I also mentioned his competitors rates and thoroughness. I asked for a justification prior to writing this review to see if there was a mistake. He simply said, we use flat rates, are a bigger company and the smaller companies (his competitors that we uses) can charge a lot less, and that he offers the warranties on the parts he replaces; he also goes on to say that if we were to move forward with the future maintenance, by the time they got to the heat exchange ($3300), his techs would then suggest a new system. Does all this sound like a honest company; charging a long- term loyal customer 4x more than his competitor with no justification. Then trying to quote over 7700 in maintenance on equipment that costs a fraction of that to replace brand new with a manufactures warranty. This company use to have morals and loyal customers, but it seems since it has switched to five star, those days are over. I will never do business with them again. Doing right by the customer, being honest and transparent, and not price gauging goes a long way.

Overall, the installation went well. They were punctual for both the initial consult and the install. The sales rep was very responsive to my questions, and the lead installer seemed very knowledgeable. The entire crew was very respectful and personable. They were very cautious when bringing equipment in or out, and did not leave any marks on the walls, which was a pleasant surprise. Due to some code issues, they needed to re-route my exhaust. My only complaint would be with the clean up effort. Both times they were out, they left a bit of a mess i.e. pvc filings were left all over the basement and insulation was removed to install the new exhaust and was not put back (it was just left laying on my desk). I plan on having them come back out to clean the air ducts and for a fall check up.

I called on New Year’s Day and could have had them that day however other people were in a worse situation than I so I opted to be the first call the next day. Mike called before he came. No doubt I was the first one. He was friendly courteous efficient and very knowledgeable. The ladies on the phone are courteous and friendly. It was sub zero weather. Mike diagnosed the problem in record time. I was up and running after having to order the part. I couldn’t be happier. The best service I’ve ever experienced

I called Canal Winchester Heating & Cooling because my air conditioning unit wouldn't turn on. My furnace fan worked but there was nothing from the AC unit. The technician (Chris) arrived as planned and found a dead snake near the wiring inside. He cleaned the unit, checked the refrigerant and discovered that it was a bit low. Chris explained all the reasons that the refrigerant could be low and suggested a checkup in the Spring to make sure there wasn't a leak. Because the amount was small, if there WAS a leak it would be a slow one and very expensive to fix. He could have ripped me off but he was honest.  I highly recommend this company for their honesty, professionalism and integrity. I will definitely use them again.

The safety heat sensor was tripping which shut down the furnace.  When I contacted him, Jeff came out promptly, did a complete trouble shoot/analysis of the problem and then contacted Rheem to verify his analysis.  He had to spend a significant amount of time checking and verifying each step of his analysis but was able to get the problem fixed and the furnace is now working perfectly.

Outstanding in all aspects!  AC went down on Friday (hottest day of this year); Contacted Jeff and he came out on Sunday evening to check the unit and then, give us an estimate which was very reasonable. Re-arranged his work schedule to squeeze the job in the next day, but rain all day made that impossible. Then, rearranged their schedule again, and completed the entire job Wednesday afternoon.
Two member installation crew was very efficient, worked quickly, but never 'hurried'. Jeff stopped by to see if any problems. There were none. Excellent job in all aspects. Both members of the installation crew were very friendly, explained what they were doing and our AC was completely replaced and, up and running by 5:00 p.m.

Answered a 5:30am request for help. Super responsive. Fixed our AC same day as our call so we did not have to suffer through the heat. Even verified with my wife that she would be ok in the 84 degree house while he went to get the new capacitor (ours is not standard so he didn't have on his truck).

Have recommended to all of our friends.

They service our heating and air conditioner.  The person who came out was great.  They know there job.  They didn't take very long and they got it all done and cleaned up.  They usually have a discount. 

I went really great. They came out quickly, and it was very affordable.

Jeff came with another younger fellow and they were both very friendly. When I made the appointment, I said I would like a check up on a heat pump. I had seen a coupon on the website for $45. He asked me if it was for heating and cooling . I was a little confused because it was a heat pump which performs both heating and cooling and was the same piece of equipment, but I said yes. When Jeff arrived and did the work, he stated the checkup would be $90 as he checked both heating and cooling. I was a little annoyed because after all it is the same piece of equipment. However, when he arrived, he came in with refrigerant in hand, which I thought was strange because he hadn't even checked if it was low yet. The checkup went smoothly as they progressed with checking the system, Jeff teaching the younger fellow along the way. I had questions about how to perform maintenance myself along the way and Jeff was very helpful at teaching me. He then told me that we needed about 1 lb of freon. I asked if he performed a leak test and he said it wasn't necessary and we could use todays readings as a baseline for further checkups to determine a leak. So I agreed to the work. The cost of freon was $80 which after doing some research found that was a fair price (freon is very expensive) . Anyway, about 6 hours later the outdoor compressor stopped working. I called Jeff back and told him what happened. He said that was very weird and could not have been from anything that he had done. I asked if he could come and look at it. He said he would and quot;tryand quot; to fit me in the next day, but he couldn't guarantee it. Needless to say I was livid when I got off the phone. The system that he said was working fine when he left and had been working fine for the previous 7 years breaks down 6 hours after he leaves and then was unwilling to make time to check it out. Meanwhile, we spent the rest of the night and the following morning in a very hot house. i called another company to come and check it out. They came by 12:30 the next day and replaced a broken capacitor. When I told Jeff I was having someone else look at it, he wanted to know who it was. I was reluctant to tell him in case the owners of the other company and him were friends (which often happens within professions) and I wanted an unbiased opinion.Although it did not seem to be related to what Jeff did, it was still a highly unusual coincidence. Because of his reluctance to accommodate us when this happened and the unusual circumstances that this took place I will not use Canal Winchester Heating and Cooling again.

Jeff arrived promptly, wrestled my poorly installed original furnace out, and reworked all of the ducts and pipes. He even cleaned up the area when done!

Fantastic. Jeff came out within an hour of me calling. He was able to quickly identify the problem and clearly explained to me what it was. We discussed how it needed to be addressed and he was able to quickly get the parts needed to complete the repair. Things went really well and we couldn't be happier with the work.

We actually live out-of-town and rely on Jeff to take care of any Heat/AC issues that come up in the house we own so that our tenants are well taken care of. Jeff is the only technician I would trust to do this. He did several maintenance and repair jobs for us while we were living in Pickerington and earned that trust through quality work and exceptional service. As a result, we've continued to give him our business even after we've moved away. He continues to take great care of us, which gives us a lot of peace of mind.

Jeff is very trustworthy, honest, responsive and quick. He showed up when he said he would, performed the services we asked and there were no surprises on the bill. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for quality work done by a trustworthy individual for a reasonable price.
