D & M LANDSCAPING

This winter, I called D&M Landscaping three times to snowplow our driveway. When the invoice arrived, I was billed for four snow plowings of my driveway @ $45 each. We had noted in the past that the invoices from this company are not always completely accurate, and in fact, preprinted on the bottom of their professionally printed invoice is a disclaimer of sorts with verbage that reads something like: "Please add or deduct any services as necessary." Because of my concern regarding the possiblity of an error on the billing, I keep meticulous records on my calendar as to when this company performs services for us. When I got the invoice, I wrote a letter on the back of it recapping the days I called them, the exact times of my outgoing calls to request their services (which I reconfirmed by using the call history in my cell phone log) and explained that I was deducting $45 for the snow plowing I had not requested and which never took place. (I further explained that my sisters were in town staying with me at that time, and that my sisters actually shoveled the driveway themselves in order to bring their luggage inside.) I then deducted the $45 charge for the service of plowing that had not taken place (and that I had never called to request) and mailed her a money order for the other three plowings. Later I received a voicemail from Donna, the woman that owns the company, stating that she never bills a client for services not rendered and that she would no longer be providing services for me in the future. So I decided to join Angie's list to do more research into who I will choose to hire for services in the future.

We began using this service in Sept. 2007 and were very happy with the quick response to phone call, estimate, and ability to begin mowing immediately. However, once we resumed service in Spring 2008, we had two weekly mowings and then they did show up on the scheduled day, did not to call to notify us that they wanted to change our scheduled day from Friday to Monday, and did not return our phone calls until the next week...four days later.

D & M does excellent work. Their prices are reasonable, but we were able to find a less expensive service that does not do as nice a job. We sacrificed a little quality for reduced cost.
