Originally I did give Greg a glowing review. He indeed did take a very out-dated non-functional bathroom and bring make it functional. However I wrote that review right after the work was done. Upon further inspection, I did notice some things that I had wished were different. I spent an entire year trying to get him back out here to fix them and he FINALLY came 3 weeks ago to look at what I wanted changed. He proceeded to tell me that he was going out of town to work the next week so he would have to get it done ASAP. I have not heard from him since.
I don't plan to contact him again. I will unfortunately have to find another contractor to fix his mistakes. I had given Greg's name to 2 neighbors who also have outdated bathrooms and want to remodel. I have told them NOT to contact him.
I did however learn 2 major thing from this experience.
1. I was always concerned about inconveniencing Greg. Now I know that he works for me and if he gets a little inconvenienced than so be it.
2, NEVER EVER pay the contractor until the work is finished. I wrote Greg a check before I left for work while he was still finishing the job. I should have told him to come back the next day to pick up his check, but again I didn't want to inconvenience him. Once they have their money it is very hard to get them back evidently.
Greg really made a mistake as we have another, larger bathroom that needs updated but that's his loss!
Addendum number 2.....
So as I said, Greg never came back to fix the molding mistakes he made. I had given him the one piece of tile to try and match it to make some changes in our bathroom. Since he never showed back up, I texted and asked him at the very least to please return the tile sample so that WE would have for reference. 2 days ago guess what showed up on my front porch.....the tile. In a VERY cowardly fashion he left the tile and didn't even bother to speak with me. Great business skills this man has!
We are very pleased with our new bathroom. There was water damage from some plumbing problems and the bathroom was just plain old and outdated. It was original to the house which was built in 1967. Greg made it look like something from a newly built home! His attention to detail and craftsmanship is wonderful. He urged us to spend a little more on a good bathroom vanity and granite countertop and it was well worth the cost. He has helped us increase the value of our home. We would like to have him back in the future to do some updating in another bathroom and the kitchen. I would highly recommend Greg's services to anyone!
The final cost (estimate we had been given) was higher than the original Big Deal offer due to additional materials needed. Nevertheless based on other estimates we had, the total price was very reasonable. Especially noteworthy was the quality of the work performed for the price we paid.
Thankfully Greg fit our more urgent job into his schedule before Christmas, replacing the toilet in our main bathroom. It was leaking beneath the tile. Using extra ceramic tile that we had, he replaced the flooring around the new toilet, repairing the stained grout. The entire bathroom floor looked brand new when he was finished. The cost of this job was $790.
We were quite pleased with the finished product in both cases and would highly recommend Greg.
"Thank you for the review and I hope you will contact me when you are ready to proceed Greg McInnerney"
"Unfortunately, this was not the case. I was not in over my head and the reason I withdrew from the project was the lack of cooperation from the homeowner. This was my call to leave and I regret that it ended up this way. The situation could have been easily avoided. Greg McInnerney"
He painted the bathroom yellow per my wife's request (it was blue) and painted the ceiling. The old floor was linoleum so we had Greg tear it out and replace it with tile.
We had our large single sink vanity renoved and replaced it with two vanities with granite counter-tops and individual sinks for each vanity. also we had him remove the large mirror over the old vanity and replace it with mirrored medicine cabinets over each sink. A towel rack was added and a cabinet was installed over the toilet (there was not one previously). We had our single light fixture over the sink replaced with light fixtures over both sinks.
On the next to last day, the toilet was replaced. Finally, our old closet was modernized and the dead space at the top of the closet was remodeled by creating two more storage spaces. The old sliding doors were replaced with more practical fold out doors.
The old bathrom was old, archaic and ugly. The new one is modern, beautiful and useful. We are so glad that we had Greg do this project. He is a nice guy and does great work.
With the custom kitchen design, we discussed types of cabinetry, how to best utilize the space and even touched on how to best rearrange heating/cooling aspects of the kitchen if I were to knock down a wall. Very thorough job! I would recommend McInnerney for similar projects in the future.
"Thank You. It was a pleasure working for you and look forward to doing it again"
