show on oak. BG and Kevin did the actual work and the cabinets turned out great!! Barry was right.....very little grain shows after they were primed and spray painted.
It was truly a professional job and a pleasant experience. These guys are hard workers and took great pride in their work! They also painted the kitchen in the color I picked out and it really looks like a new kitchen.
We will definitely call them for our next painting job and highly recommend them.
After notification of acceptance of bid on, December 5th, crew arrives on time on the 7th and commenced work.
Day 1 was all prep work: taping, removing outlet covers, etc, and started to apply the skim coat. (Wednesday)
Day 2 was more working on applying skim coat and starting to prep for sanding. (Thursday)
Day 3 was sanding the skim coat to smooth and building up where necessary. Tom, the crew chief, worked late as the skim coating was being challenging and they were falling behind. (Friday)
Day 4 was finishing the sanding. Crew was short handed as 2 of the helpers were sick. Tom, tho, showed up and worked very hard to get everything done. Major WOW factor for work ethic! (Saturday).
Day 5 was no work (Sunday, day of rest.).
Day 6 Tom called and said the crew would not be out as they were "under the weather". (Monday)
Day 7 was PAINTING DAY!! Well, primer day. Had to finish sanding and then tape up. Note: Not all is happy in river city as care in sealing off areas from dust invasion weren't as sealed as on Day3 & 4. Some dust entered into the cold air return of HVAC and spread to some areas of the house. Oh well, we needed spring cleaning, only we wanted to wait until the spring instead of winter. (Tuesday).
Day 8 was check and correct skim coating defects not visible until after primer applied. (Wednesday).
Day 9 was PAINTING day! This time for real. Ceiling white applied (looking good, mon). "Powerder puff" for the walls applied (yup, looked good). Cleanup and get them out of here...
Wait...that molding hasn't been repaired. Asked Tom about it in the morning and was told he would get with Barry (owner) about it. Seems there is a misunderstanding as to how they (AccuPro) was going to fix it. We mutually agreed that there was a disconnect between us and Barry knocked off the $75 he said he could do the repair for. I'm not happy, but, it is a misunderstanding between us and will prevent me from ever using them again nor can I recommend them for anything other than their painters (Tom & Crew really DO know how to paint and have pride in their work).
Lessons learned -- Be sure to get a DETAILED description of work to be performed by this company. According to overheard conversations amongst the crew, Barry tends to underestimate costs of jobs/work/projects. That fits in as my other 2 bids for the work were $500-1000 more for the same job.
I cannot fault the quality of the work (except for the non-existent molding repair). Tom and crew take pride in doing a great job and making sure you're satisfied. I just have to question Barry's "estimates" and you really need to get the details on what he is committing to.
Overall, my Mom loves the colors and the quality of the wall repairs (tecture removal) and the painting. I will not, however, be asking Barry for an estimate withour wanting FULL detailed description of work to be performed and established time lines for project completion. Oh well...I do love that "new house" smell of "fresh paint".
